Even if Brock does beat Mir, all you haters still won't give Brock his due. I mean, he defeated a ing living legend of MMA in Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight belt and you guys still tear him down. If you didn't give him his due after he beat Couture, then you sure as hell won't give him his due if he beats Mir. It's like nothing Brock can do is ever good enough. He's at the top of the UFC right now and you ers still talk sh*t about him. I just don't get it.... I give Brock his credit. I lieke him alot and enjoy watching him. He is a beast. But he wont beat Mir...

Lesnar. Yes Mir beat Nogs and looked great doing it but I don't see him getting past Lesnar. Lesnar has more experience, he wants to avenge the loss to Mir, he is a beast. Way too athletic, strong, superior wrestling, better striking.

But Mir has some solid striking technique and boxing skills now that since he proved it aginst NOG. So I give Power to Brock but technique to Mir IMO. But I think either man could win this fight if they execute their strenghts perfectly. I know Brock will be expecting Mir to go for a sub but if some how Mir does get a sub in which is what I think will happe... I know Brock will tap, break, or pass out. No doubt.... I want Mir to win but there is deffinatly a chance that Brock can and I wouldnt be upset if he did..

Technically he gained NOTHING in the Herring fight...he took him down and just layed and pounded on him. The Couture fight..well...it was over a little too quick to really gain any experience...training and actual fight time are vastly different when you think of "more experienced" ..I can train for 10 years without fighting once, but does that make me just as experienced as the guy who has fought religiously for 10 years ? I still see the same result as the first fight. Lesnar tapping out to either a rear naked or an arm bar.

No he means he has more exerience since he las faced Mir or atleast thats the way I take that comment....

No offense to Mir fans, but I hope Lesnar breaks Mir's face, and any possible limbs he can pick at for more than 30 seconds.
I can respect Mir's victories over Lesnar and Nog, but man of man, still Lesnar needs to take Mir out.

Even if Brock does beat Mir, all you haters still won't give Brock his due. I mean, he defeated a ing living legend of MMA in Randy Couture for the UFC Heavyweight belt ... That like taking a 50yr old Babe Ruth and putting him in a Home Run contest against a 30 yr old Barry Bonds. Sure he is a living legend..but anyone who beats him right now is just putting a name on their record to me...hes FAR past his prime. I find it funny that you would say that. Because this gives the indication that you knew all to well that Lesnar would destroy Couture when just a couple of months ago you said this in the "Call it now...no editing" thread. Re: Call it now... no editing « Reply #16 on Oct 22, 2008, 7:25pm »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brock Lesnar vs Randy Couture Couture by 1st round submission (Brock is too novice for this calibur fight) My question is....you counted him out once. Do you think you are perhaps counting him out again a bit too soon? Please don't go in circles with me either and tell me Mir has beat him..yes I know he did. But fighters learn from their mistakes..I think Rampage is the prime example of that.

My question is....you counted him out once. Do you think you are perhaps counting him out again a bit too soon? so I made a prediction..and in a sport where anything can happen, something crazy did happen, and Lesnar won..not because hes great but because Couture is not a quality opponent at this stage in his career. that was me talking because I love Randy Couture. and I dont have to go circles around it. the proof is in the pudding. Mir tapped Lesnar out once, and just cause Lesnar had 2 more fights since then, I doubt he gained that much experience that you guys are trying to prove , to beat Frank Mir. same fight, same result. Mir is far to experienced and NOT 50 YEARS OLD.

I only read through the first page and didn't feel like reading through the rest of the BS, but here's my take.
I just watched the Mir/Nog fight. I wasn't impressed to say the least. I'm a big fan of Frank Mir, and I know he's a great fighter, but Nog didn't even try. Nog threw maybe 30 punches in the whole bout, he didn't attempt an offense what so ever. This was merely a boxing match where Mir did everything right. He took his time, waited for openings, and threw punches he knew would land. Nog didn't do a damned thing.
Nog reminds me of Arturo Gatti. Gatti had some of the best fights in boxing IMO, but took too many beatings to be functional in the ring.
I'm a big fan of Lesnar as well, have been since I saw him wrestle in college. The dude is legit, no matter how much you all want to downplay him. We saw him nearly demolish Mir the first time, then he did the dumbest thing he could do in the fight, stand and let Mir have time to think. Mir got the best of him, but got him on a rookie mistake. Herring may not be great, but he deserves more credit than I have seen from this board. Yeah, he was a warm up fight for Brock, and Brock proved he could go the distance.
Couture's age had nothing to do with the fight against Lesnar. I thought against Lesnar he looked the best he had looked since he fought Tito. Brock was just too strong and Randy couldn't work his game. Randy did try to however work his game rather than trying to play others, like he did against Liddell. To say Brock won merely because Randy was old is an understatement, the dude peaked his career at 39-41, and he looked in better shape against Lesnar than he did against Tito. The only reason, and I repeat, the only reason Couture ever lost to Chuck was that he fought Chuck's fight and not his. Watch Chuck/Randy 1, then watch the other 2, Randy didn't fight his fight. Yeah, Randy has no chin, he proved that twice with Chuck and once with Lesnar, but I guarantee age had nothing to do with it.
Everybody keeps talking about Brock's small gas tank... many people are mistaken when they see a guy breathing heavy. Brock is one of the most conditioned guys in there, he just doesn't control his breathing. I had the same problem when I wrestled, though I was probably the most conditioned HWT in the state of Texas when I wrestled. I was never the strongest guy, hell I only benched about 270 my senior year, but I wore out he strongest of guys, even in college I wore out a National Champion Powerlifter. Strength is one thing, conditioning is another. Brock has both. Winded and gassed are two different things, which many of you lack the knowledge of from personal experience.
To say who will win in the Brock/Mir 2 fight, I honestly couldn't say. I would like Brock to win to prove all the haters wrong. Would I be disappointed? No, as I said before I'm a big fan of both fighters. If Mir wins, I'm guessing it'll be in the 3rd or 4th round by submission. If Brock wins, I'm guessing 2nd or 3rd round by TKO or KO. Time will tell and we will see.

Randy Couture, at 45 is STILL a top 5 HW in the world.

Although Lesnar is my favorite UFC fighter, I think Mir will take this one.
Anyone know when they are supposed to fight?

Randy Couture, at 45 is STILL a top 5 HW in the world. not at all lol. he will be dropping those ranks quick with the losses he will gain if he continues to fight. i bet in his final 2 fights in UFC we see him get creamed again. He is just going to be a name on someones record now until he retires.

He is just going to be a name on someones record now until he retires. How you can even think that is beyond me. Randy Couture's previous fights surprised many people. Just when you think the older guy should be losing, he ends up winning. Beating the much younger opponent. We've seen it tons of times. If you honestly think that Couture is done-for after losing to Brock Lesnar since his return, then you are only fooling yourself. He will be back and probably better than ever. It's almost like Couture gets better with age. If Brock didn't catch him with that shot, I could've seen Randy winning because I believe Brock would've gassed for sure. Especially by the 4th round. Randy would've still been fresh, but I believe Brock would've been long gassed by the point. Randy gave Brock a good go seeing as he hadn't fought in over a year. I can see Randy winning his next fight and the next one after that until he's back in line for a World title shot and then doing the impossible again and winning the belt back. Never count out Randy Couture, no matter how old he is. That's not an issue here. Even at his age, I would give a definite advantage to him over others like Mir, Nogueira and even Brock. Randy is a much better fighter than you give him credit for. He will be back and I feel sorry for his next opponent.
