Todd sent the following:
Jim Ross called into the Bubba Love Sponge show on XM yesterday for just some general talk. JR talked about how today’s wrestlers rely too much on writers and creative team and says they should go out of the box and not be so dependent on someone else to get over.
Bubba was talking about Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin at WrestleMania 25 in Texas. JR said never say never but he doesn’t think it will happen and talked about Vince still being a business man regardless. Ross said if Vince sees potential in the match and can make amends with Hogan, then who knows. He said anyone who considers themselves a wrestling fan would want to see the match for the historical side of it and the emotion alone.
Hogan called in towards the end of the show and said he hasn’t talked to Vince and like JR said, never say never in this business. Hogan said a match with Austin would break all records and the key would be to building a good program and telling a good story in the ring, which he feels Austin and himself could do very well. Hogan also mentioned he would be very careful with Austin’s neck. When asked who should go over in the match, JR mentioned some kind of screwy finish where someone interferes and Austin & Hogan clean house. Hogan disagreed and said a match like that needs to have a finish or the fans would crap all over it. Hogan said he would not mind at all doing a clean job to Austin at WrestleMania 25 as he realizes the kind of money the match could do and the finish doesn’t matter to him. JR said it would be interesting to see what kind of rumblings start happening at “The Tower” now that this interview had been done.
Just sign the match for WrestleMania 25 Vince.

I think Hogan is saying all this stuff because he's looking for a big pay day due to the situation he's in. But I mean, who can really blame him. I'd love to see Hogan fight any top guy, whether it's Cena or Austin.

What Hogan says and what Hogan does are two completely different things.

IDK. Divorce, Nick's lawyer fees, the stock market tanking.
I think the Hulkster could be in need of money, and is willing to swallow his pride for a big pay day.

The reason this match never happened is because Austin flatout does not want to wrestle again and he's stuck to his guns all along. It's never even come down to who would win from what I understand since the WWE hasn't been able to sell Austin on even doing the match at all.
Hogan is one of the kings of backstage politics, but he knows what good business is all about and he has NEVER been given his fair share of dues from the fans for recognizing that. He's probably the best in the industry in that retrospect.

If it ends with three stunners, a bloody Hogan, and Austin wiping his ass with Hulkamania...it's all good.

GOD I LOVE HOGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a masterful politician!
He has totally put the ball in Austin's court and Hogan can now put full blame on Austin if the match never happens.
Now all the internet smarks can stop the Hogan Hate of saying "oh he won't job to anybody" and "his ego's too big to lose to Austin".
Bottom Line? Hogan has created public opinion now that tells fans "blame Austin if this doesn't happen".
If it does happen, it'll be a great match no matter who wins. I personally want to see Hogan win but the spectacle of it alone would be historic.
I honestly would have no reason to watch wrestling anymore after this match. I will have seen everything that I have wanted to see from the business.

I know alot of people do not want to see this match. But I would love it and hope it does happen. I know it wouldn't be that good but when you grew up watching Hogan and Austin at there peak, it's just an interesting match I have always wanted to see, moreso than Rock vs. Hogan.

That's a worse idea than Hogan vs. Cena. At least Cena can move. Austin is probably damn near crippled. The only way to get a good match out of either man is to put them against someone who can help carry them; neither one is in the condition to carry the other to a good match.
Look, the match might have been interesting 6 years ago...or 11 years ago...but right now, neither man can wrestle and the moment has passed. I just don't care to see it.

I hate both but I want too see it happen. I feel sorry for Hulk as he needs money, the fans want it, and it'd make everyone money or memories. It'd make a lot of people both.

Well, the only issue here is Austin's neck.

When Hogan's life started goin down the tubes, I called this one! I'm ing jacked because if I got to see Hogan/Austin @ Mania while I'm in attendance....that'd be awesome just for the atmosphere. Crowd reaction would be interesting as well when the match actually gets going. Hogan is over no matter where he goes but Austin is the hometown boy so I can't imagine it being as one sided as Hogan and the Rock was.......fingers crossed for this one

If Hogan needed money, he shouldn't have started sh*t with Vince, tried to start his own promotion and just said...OK i'll sign a legends deal, make occasional appearances, do another DVD, get an Exclusive Shopzone figure and merch...etc. etc.
For the spectacle, I'd love to see Hogan/Austin...Without Hogan there would be no WWF & no Austin, without Austin there would be no WWE or WWF now

I'm gonna guess that if this was a few year ago, Hogan still had loads of Money he wouldn't do it. Now I'm sure Hogan would do it just to get a huge pay packet.
