I think the fact he's 13-0, he's defeated UFC 'legend' Tito Ortiz, Lightweight Champ BJ Penn, The man in contention Rich Franklin, K1 veteran Sam Greco and at UFC 79 Sokoujdou whom the commentators and the UFC tried to push at Lyoto's expense back at UFC 79. The problem is, many 'fans' find him boring, yet as a Karate-ka myself I can appreciate the way he fights and from a technichal point of view he's truly among the elite. I love Wanderlei, but lets face it, he's a wild swinger, who sluggs yet lets face it had he beaten Chuck and or Rampage he would've most likely been put into contention, theres even talk of Chuck getting a title shot if he wins his next fight! Chuck and Wand are legends and exciting fighters no doubt, but its as you reffered to about Entertainment vs Sport, MMA is a sport, the top fighters based on W/L record should be getting the title shots.

Well ing said. I'm glad others are on board with me in thinking that this 'entertainment' BS has gone far enough. Lyoto's done more than enough to get a shot. And Chuck getting a title shot if he wins his next fight? I'd laugh if it weren't so disgusting. UFC 96: CHUCK LIDDELL VS..............CARL MALENKOOOOOOOO

Funnily enough, I watched the Machida/Ortiz fight earlier on UFC Wired... and Machida does not run away - he eludes his opponents' offence.. There's a difference between someone running away, and somebody avoiding getting hit.. Machida draws his opponent in with feints and then takes advantage of the openings.. He doesn't just run, he attacks - but he does it only when the opportunity is there..

omg...
ok yes Machida is Elusive. But he is not the aggressive fighter in any of his fights. I actually agree with you guys though. If he beats Thiago...(which I don't think he will)...he definately deserves a title shot.
But if he gets a title shot and absolutely gets dominated by Evans or Rampage I am hoping you guys who are fans of him will stop this talking about him like the guy is the next damn Anderson Silva. He does enough to win the fight...and thats it.
But if he does beat Page or Evans by TKO or submission I will give the guy his props..
I just don't see it happening though. He would get dominated by a dangerous striker.

I don't know if this needs to be pointed out...
But everyone on the east coast...UFC PPV is live at 3pm on PPV (instead of it's normal 10pm start time).
And I just got done doing my fantasy predictions, and I have to say, this was the hardest card to predict, EVER.

Overall this is one helluva card. I believe that Franklin was a real good draw for UFC before Lidell vs Tito.

I really dont understand why everyone thinks Thiago is going to get through Machida. I find Machida incredibly boring dont get me wrong, but it looks like people are just hoping for someone to beat him rather then actually thinking he has the ability too get past Lyoto. Who has he beat? Houston Alexander? Impressive...
Here's hoping Kang has a good showing today!

Machida is a hard guy to study for and really they both are such fantastic strikers that really this is anyone's game.

To avoid confusion guys...
it is being advertised as airing both live at 3pm est AND replayed at the normal time of 10pm est, so if you didn't catch it live, just catch it at the normal time.

Yeh this show was pretty cool, what stood out in my mind is how much better the UFC is at promoting and buiding hype for fights than the WWE is!, Shogun vs Coleman on paper, lets face it, it's not a buy rate puller, but after watching the video packages, I thought that shouldv'e been the main event! Shame Shogun only entered a pedestrian performance, I thought at first he was toying with Coleman tryna make a fool out off him, but Rua was huffing and puffing by the middle of the 2nd round, I didnt know whether to laugh or cry when he was just sitting on The Hammer in the last 10 seconds of round2. Hopefully Rua, builds on this victory as he would be an excellent additin to the 205lbs title chase. I felt a bit sorry for Rich Franklin, he took a head butt and an eye poke (both unintentional), but I felt he was the more active of the 2 fighters overall. Jeremy Horn, was lucky to only recieve the beat down he did, I give Horn alot of respect though, he showed plenty of heart and nearly even snuck a submission victory. Dennis Kang, how didn't win I don't know, after dominating the 1st round he ran out ideas and gas in the 2nd! WHAT DOES THE FREACKIN OCTAGON DO THESE RING FIGHTERS!

Shogun looked horrible to be completely honest, but I think it was Shogun coming in again not at his best, that made this fight more interesting, because that meant it was closer. Coleman showed so much heart, and I'd actually be interested in seeing a third fight between the two. Kang looked ing awesome in the first, Belcher looked completely overwhelmed...and then second round = a whole different Alan Belcher. The eyepoke and the headbutt...yeah, unfortunate. But I really thought Dan was the clear winner of this fight. He took Franklin down throughout all three rounds. Some nice ground n pound and control in rd 1. I'd say Henderson won RD 1 & 2, and Franklin won RD 3. I am looking forward to Dan crushing Bisping.

Good, but a not great night of fights. Glad to see Hendo win in what was in my opinion the fight of the night. I'm really looking forward to him coaching TUF.
Shogun/Coleman was awful and the biggest disappointment of the night. Both showed up in terrible shape tonight and were dead tired by the end of Round 2, Coleman by Round 1. Atleast Shogun saved his terrible performance with a KO. Shogun, one of my favorites, is not the same guy that he was just a couple years ago. This guy went 20 minutes full power with others before and didn't get tired. Now he's tired after 7 minutes. What happened? Is he still not over the injuries? It can't be "octagon jitters" because he's been in there before. He could have finished off Coleman in the second if he was in shape.
Lytle/Davis was an entertaining fight and Palhares was dominant over a tough as hell Jeremy Horn. Sucked that Kang lost. He looked awesome in the first Round and half of the Second until he got caught.

The event was pretty good. I was pretty nervous around the time when the judges score cards were being read. I really thought they would have picked Franklin since one judge did by a 3 point gap. Thankfully though, Henderson won.

I'm extremely happy that Hendo pulled out the win. Great to see that he can still throw down at his increasing age. Looking forward to the next TUF season.
Sucks to see Kang lost, but it's great to hear that he performed well up until getting caught. Didn't sound like a complete wash out performance on his part, so hopefully we see him again soon in the octagon.
I'm horrified by the news on Shogun/Coleman. It's baffling that Shogun is having such troubles in the UFC, considering his reputation coming into his debut.

Davis is a little work horse. Despite being one of the most undersized WW in the division, he still holds his own.
