I liken Sting to a minor league, less successful version of Ric Flair. 2 guys who used to be very good yes but at the end of their careers are really running on star power and name value alone... a name which, outside of the people who frequently care about wrestling, is relatively unknown or not cared about to the level of a John Cena, Stone Cold or The Rock...

Your shoulders don't have to be pinned to the mat to put someone over in essence. If you make the guy look good, they can get over just fine. This is true, however it doesn't apply to anyone Sting has wrestled in TNA.

Better question: Who has any 90's star in TNA put over, really... and I mean "put over" as in longterm, not one match that looked competitive and was forgotten about a week later.
Angle put over Styles, though it wasn't really necessary considering what he already meant to the company. Angle put over Joe, though I'd argue Joe was more interesting, better liked, and credible before that feud.
So the answer to both questions is: nobody. No TNA guy has made a name for himself as a side effect of feuding with a 90's star.

Jeff Jarrett and Sting are both trash.

No one. Period. I realize that he has allowed AJ and Joe some good matches, but it really didn't help put them over any more than they already were. Hell Funaki got more out of Triple H and Edge.

This is coming from someone whom is really not a fan of Sting in the company at all. In mid 06, Sting did put over Joe in the buildup to Sacrifice 06 by building him up to be his partner. Ergo, the other partner choices were not exactly stellar, but it did look good for Joe to be standing there with him.
With that said, match-wise, no not at all.

Even when he was with Joe, Sting was still "the guy," you know? It's not like it was "Joe and Sting." It was clearly "Sting and Joe."

Sting is like the big fish in a little pond. And he likes it, because he IS and older wrestler who people that run the company probably believe need to be shown respect by rewarding him by making him look good.

Pacman Jones.
He let Pacman keep his undefeated record intact.

Sting is God. He's unlike these indy spot monkeys who don't tell stories in the ring, they're all acrobatics.
Sting's name will still draw more fans than anybody you dream about becoming TNA World Champion.

He knows how to tell a story and work a crowd. Samoa JOe - If you think Joe's a spot monkey - you're high or stupid. I'm up for a Jeff Jarrett run to. The guys I want are far (far) from "spot monkeys". Honestly, all Sting does in a match is "WOOOOOO!"

I thought you said Christopher Daniels wouldn't be good in the main event? I did but if they did put him in the main event he's not a spot monkey. He wouldn't be good as far as "drawing power" goes - but heh - neither is Sting.

Sting is God. He's unlike these indy spot monkeys who don't tell stories in the ring, they're all acrobatics. Sting's name will still draw more fans than anybody you dream about becoming TNA World Champion. Sting is not god, he was a decent wrestler for his whole career who happened to have a couple of really good matches with Ric Flair but since then has not been involved in anything major himself. He has leached his name off onto other big things. His wrestling career is still solely based on his matches with Flair and his time spent in the NWO. Other than that, Sting isn't really anything major. People say Hogan was right place right time? No where NEAR compared to Sting. And even in modern days, Sting is like a lesser version of Ric. Ric had the good sense to get out when he knew it was time to get out. For the last few months leading up to Wrestlemania, Ric really wasn't putting on outstanding matches but pulled one of the best match he's had in ages, arguably in his career out on his last match. That is the way to go. There is no way Sting can have that kind of retirement match. Why? Because no one really cares THAT much when the Stinger retires. The man who could really give him a retirement match he deserves has already had the best send off possible and to crapon that would be a travesty. Sting is not god, he's the object of a fantastic wrestler in Ric Flair and the bi-product of the biggest thing WCW ever did being the NWO. Granted Sting used to be able to hold his own in the ring but the only classic matches he has ever had were against Naitch. And now everyone seems to think the entire wrestling industry owes Sting a favor but the way I see it, it's only because he's still hanging around. Sting needs to either start building some talent with the name value he has and stop leaching off the wrestling business or just retire altogether. I am sure that people like Kurt Angle, Booker T, Kevin Nash and the like have a big enough name that they can rub off on some of the younger talent.
