5th April 2009The opening video package airs, showing highlights from past WrestleMania’s in black and white, before transitioning into a heavy rock rift and into colour. The video package now highlights the big matches for tonight. An epic pyro display goes off, lasting nearly a minute and spanning the entire arena, starting at the stage before pyros shoot off in the rafters going around the ceiling, before finally ending at the stage, before the three announce teams promote their individual brands matches, and making numerous references to this being the biggest WrestleMania in recent years.
The Brian Kendrick Defeated Hurricane Helms to Become the New WWE Cruiserweight ChampionThe opening match of WrestleMania 25 certainly set the bar for the undercard, with two of the most thrilling guys on SmackDown going at it. The two began the match with a speedy exchange of strikes and grapples, with Kendrick being the first to take the advantage following a missle dropkick. Helms wasn’t on the defensive for long, and quickly fought back. Both men began to hit some high spots, and they became riskier as the match continued, including Kendrick hitting an insane shooting star press from the top turnbuckle to the outside, taking himself and Helms out. Both men managed to make it back into the ring before the ten count. Both men seemed to get desperate and began hitting their signature moves, but eventually Helms would attempt the Single Knee Facebreaker, only for Kendrick to counter the move, and connect with The Kendrick. Kendrick then made the pin, and got the three count, becoming the new Cruiserweight Champion.
Following the match, The Brian Kendrick is awarded the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, and goes crazy celebrating, dancing all around the ring.
WrestleMania 25 cuts backstage, where the three men of Legacy are on their way to the ring for the six man tag match. Randy Orton stops them, and tells them that he wants their help to guarantee he walks away with the World Heavyweight Championship tonight. Ted DiBiase gets right into Orton’s face, and tells him they’ve got their own match tonight, and that he will have to sort out his own problems. Orton tells them to remember who created Legacy, and DiBiase tells Orton that he’s in charge now. Legacy walk off towards the stage area, leaving Orton fuming.
Legacy Defeated The CabinetThe biggest problem with this match was that it was between two heel stables, and there were times early on in the match that nobody in the crowd knew who they were meant to be supporting. Soon it became clear that people were favouring Legacy, and the match became a lot more entertaining once the crowd got into it. DiBiase and Gabriel started the match off and put on some of the best back and forth wrestling of the match, while as soon as Ezekial was tagged in his pure power took out everyone. JBL was soon brought in, and The Cabinet isolated Smith. It looked like Smith was going to be pinned, until he managed to make the hot tag to DiBiase. DiBiase looked extremely impressive during his exchange with Layfield, out wrestling him numerous times. Soon a full out brawl erupted between the two teams, and in the chaos Smith hit the Running Powerslam on Gabriel for the win.
Following the match Legacy escape out of the ring, and celebrate on the outside. WrestleMania then cuts to a video package, promoting the three hour special draft edition of Monday night RAW, airing April 13th.
The Colons Defeated Cryme Time, Hawkins & Ryder and Jesse & Festus to Retain the WWE Tag Team ChampionshipsNow this match wasn’t expected to be great, but it blew a lot of people away with how fast paced it was, and the performance of Carlito in particular stood out as being superb. Only two men were in the ring at one time, with any other wrestler of an opposing team being tagged in at any time. Carlito and Ryder started out, and put on the early highlight of the entire match with some impressive back and forth wrestling. Jesse and Festus didn’t last long in the match, being eliminated early on following a top rope crossbody from Zack Ryder to Jesse. The three remaining teams fought it out, with all six men getting in on the action, and Primo taking out both Shad and Zach Ryder with a senton over the top rope to the outside. This allowed Carlito to connect with the backcracker on JTG to eliminate Cryme Time. With Primo and Curt Hawkins still out of it on the outside, Carlito and Zack Ryder engaged in another great back and forth exchange. Ryder connected with the Heat Stroke and almost got the three count, only for Primo to recover on the outside and break up the pin. Hawkins soon got back into the match, and The Colons and Hawkins & Ryder brawled in and around the ring, until Carlito connected with the Backcracker on Hawkins to get the pinfall.
Following the match Carlito and Primo celebrate with the WWE Tag Team Championships, while Zack Ryder stares angrily at Hawkins, who is laid out in the centre of the ring, and walks off up the ramp on his own.
WrestleMania 25 cuts backstage, where CM Punk is standing by with Maria, who is doing interview duties for tonight. Maria asks Punk why he turned on his friend Kofi Kingston. Punk takes the microphone of Maria, and talks directly into the camera, stating that ever since he came to the WWE, whenever he helped anyone else it always came back to bite him in the ass, so he’s done with helping others, he’s done with pleasing the fans. Punk declares that the only one who matters now is CM Punk, because he is better than everybody.
CM Punk Defeated Kofi Kingston to Retain the Intercontinental ChampionshipPunk got an unholy amount of heel heat as he made his entrance for this match, and it looks like he could be one of the biggest heels of 2009 if pushed correctly. Kingston got a great pop, and is clearly the fan favourite of this match. These two really went at it from the beginning of the match, and there was none of the usual showboating from Kingston. The start of the match was very back and forth, with neither man getting a clear advantage over the other. Punk attempted to finish the match early with the GTS, but Kingston escaped the move, and unloaded with some a barrage of strikes. Kingston took control of the match with an unpredictable offence, hitting moves that nobody, especially not CM Punk, saw coming. Kingston almost connected with the Trouble in Paradise, but Punk rolled out of the ring, taking the time to catch his breath, only for Kingston to fly over the top rope, taking both Punk and Kingston out. Both men managed to get back into the ring before the ten count, and from there they both focused on hitting their signature moves and ending the match. Punk nearly knocked Kingston clean out with a big kick to the skull and set him up for the GTS, only for Kingston to once again escape the move and push Punk into the turnbuckle. Kingston attempted to Trouble in Paradise, only for Punk to avoid the move, and finally connect with the Go to Sleep. Punk managed to get the pinfall, and retained the Intercontinental Championship.
CM Punk quickly exits the ring and grabs the Intercontinental Championship, quickly escaping up the ramp with the title raised. WrestleMania 25 then cuts to a video package promoting the upcoming return of The Rockers, and their recent feud with John Morrison and The Miz.
The Rockers Defeated John Morrison & The MizThis past week on RAW, Marty Jannetty made his return to the ring, proving to everyone that he still has it, and here The Rockers proved that they can still pull of some of the spectacular double team moves that helped them make their name. Jannetty and Morrison kicked off the match with some good back and forth offence that was kept slow for the opening, and then got faster paced to get the crowd pumped. As soon as Michaels got tagged in and went for Morrison the match really went up a notch with some incredible wrestling, and these two need to be put together in singles action down the line. The match was kept fast paced with tags being made often, meaning all four men were kept relatively fresh, although Jannetty did begin to tire as the match went on. Midway Morrison connected with the Virginia Neckbreaker on Jannetty, who was not the legal man, which took him out of the match and left Michaels to face both Morrison and The Miz, which he did successfully until the numbers game became too much, and Morrison N’ Miz took control. Jannetty eventually recovered, and climbed the turnbuckle, coming out of nowhere with a crossbody to both Miz N’ Morrison. Michaels used this to his advantage, and soon connected with the Sweet Chin Music on The Miz to get the pinfall.
Following the match Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty hug and celebrate in the right to a big pop from the crowd, before a video package highlighting the Money in the Bank participants airs.
Montel Vontavious Porter Retrieved the Briefcase to Become Mr. Money in the Bank 2009This is easily the best match of the night so far, and possibly the best Money in the Bank match in history. The competitors were certainly well rounded. You had the two big men in Kane and Umaga, the technicians in Charlie Haas, Jamie Noble and Montel Vontavious Porter and the spot monkeys in Rey Mysterio, Shelton Benjamin and Evan Bourne. Ladders were brought into the match early on, and as always with the Money in the Bank match the best spots of the match involved ladders. Bourne was especially entertaining, at one point hitting a shooting star press from the top of a ladder to all seven participants. It was all out carnage for the first portion of the match, as everyone was at full strength and in the ring at the same time. Benjamin did his ladder run, this time hitting a tornado DDT to MVP who was moments away from reaching the briefcase. Kane and Umaga spent time brawling outside the ring, but as soon as Kane entered the ring he Chokeslammed pretty much everyone, and was only stopped from reaching the briefcase by MVP, who hit an insane neckbreaker from the top of the ladder. Mysterio sprung off the top rope to the top off the ladder, only for Haas to amazingly have done the same thing, and the two fought at the top off the ladder until Umaga toppled both off the ladder, sending them to the outside. Umaga ascended the ladder, only for Bourne to springboard off the top rope and dropkick Umaga off the ladder. Noble and Bourne engaged in a series of counters until Noble hit a modified Tiger Driver, before turning around into the Chokeslam from Kane. Benjamin entered the ring, and nailed Kane with a Paydirt onto a ladder. Benjamin climbed the ladder, but MVP came from the other side of the ring, and climbed the other side of the ladder. MVP and Benjamin fought it out on top of the ladder, which ended with Benjamin taking an insane bump from the ladder into the crowd when MVP jumped off the ladder and pushed it over. MVP grabbed another ladder and began climbing. With everyone else out of it, there was nobody to stop Montel Vontavious Porter unhooking the briefcase and becoming Mr. Money in the Bank 2009.
The Hall of Fame class of 2009 are brought out and applauded on the ramp way while the carnage from the Money in the Bank ladder match is sorted out before the next match. The biggest pop clearly goes to Stone Cold Steve Austin, although the Von Erichs, Ricky Steamboat and Howards Finkel get a good reaction as well.
WrestleMania cuts backstage, where Eve is with ECW Champion Jack Swagger. Swagger talks about how he is the fastest rising star in the WWE, and that tonight, he wins in his WrestleMania debut, and continues his reign as the ECW Champion, because he is the American Sensation. This then cut to Christian, who was standing by with Maria. Christian talks about how there are some people whose ego begins to cloud their vision. Christian states that Swagger is one of these people, and that he fails to see who truly is Sensational. Christian promises to teach Swagger a lesson by taking the ECW Championship.
Swagger enters first for the ECW Championship. Following his entrance the band Story of the Year enter, and perform Christian’s entrance theme – ‘Just Close Your Eyes’ live as Christian enters. The entrance got a pretty big pop, and its the first special WrestleMania entrance of the night.
Christian Defeated Jack Swagger to Become the New ECW Heavyweight ChampionThe feud between these two has been built up for months, and these two finally got the chance to showcase their skills on the grandest stage of them all one on one with the ECW Championship on the line. The match was kept strictly wrestling for the opening minutes, which undoubtedly gave Swagger the advantage. Swagger kept control of the match by keeping it to strictly mat wrestling, but Christian soon escaped and unloaded with a series of right hands that rocked Swagger, before a dropkick knocked Swagger through the ropes and to the outside. The match continued on the outside, with both men using the ringside area to their full advantage, and only just making it back into the ring before the ten count was made. Christian attempted to end the match with the Killswitch, but Swagger reversed it and managed to lock in the full nelson hold. It looked impossible for Christian to escape, but he managed it by sending Swagger head first into the turnbuckle. The match went very back and forth after both men got to their feet, and either could have picked up the win as there were numerous near falls throughout the following minutes. Swagger managed to connect with a beautiful dropkick that almost took Christians head off. Christian was left groggy, which gave Swagger the chance to set up the Gutwrench Powerbomb. Christian managed to counter the move and connected with the Killswitch. Everyone thought that the match was over and done right there, but somehow Swagger managed to kick out at two. The match lasted several more minutes of back and forth action until Christian once again counted the Gutwrench Powerbomb with the Killswitch. This time there was no kicking out for Swagger and Christian picked up the win to become the new ECW Champion.
Following the match Christian is handed the ECW Championship, and climbs a turnbuckle, raising the title to a good pop. WrestleMania then cut to a video package promoting the debut episode of WWE Superstars, which airs on the 16th of April.
Trish Stratus & Melina Defeated Beth Phoenix & Rosa MendezThis was clearly placed at this point on the card to give people breathing room before the big matches of the night, but that didn’t take away from everyones excitement at seeing Trish Stratus inside a WWE ring again, even if for only one night. Melina and Beth started things off, so of course we were treated to another fine display of women’s wrestling from the pair. The two really went at it before Rosa was tagged in, and although she hasn’t really impressed in the ring recently she stepped up her game here against Melina and really took the fight to the Women’s champion. When Trish was finally tagged in there was a huge pop from the live crowd. Trish proved that she still has all the moves that made her the most recognised women in WWE, completely dominating Rosa Mendez. Beth Phoenix was tagged in, and went toe to toe with Trish Stratus. Trish and Phoenix put on one of the best exchanges in women’s wrestling history, and Beth began to gain momentum. Beth had the Glam Slam set up, but Trish escaped the move and connected with the Chick Kick. Rosa entered the ring only for Melina to do the same and clothesline both herself and Rosa out of the ring, allowing Trish the time to connect with the Stratusfaction and get the pinfall for the win.
WrestleMania cuts backstage, where Eve is standing by with Matt Hardy. Eve asks Matt what is going through his head going into his Street fight against his own brother. Matt trates that the only thing going through his head is how much he wants to hurt Jeff. Matt promises to end Jeff’s career in front of everyone, and prove to everyone just who is the better Hardy. This was followed by a video package promoting the Street Fight between Matt and Jeff Hardy.
Matt Hardy Defeated Jeff HardyMatt Hardy got a massive amount of heat making his entrance, and continues to be a superb heel. Jeff was out first, and didn’t even wait for Matt to enter the ring, flying over the top rope with a senton that took both men down. Jeff and Matt brawled outside the ring, and the match got officially underway when Matt sent Jeff headfirst into the steel steps and rolled him into the ring. Matt Hardy quickly took control by keeping Jeff grounded, and he was the first to use the Street Fight rules to his advantage by grabbing a steel chair. However it didn’t work and Jeff Hardy delivered a big dropkick, sending the chair back into the face of Matt Hardy. From here Jeff Hardy first used the chair, throwing it into the face of Matt, before taking firm control with some high flying offence. It took Matt a while to get back into the match, but did so with the help of a steel pipe that Jeff had brought into the ring, nailing Jeff in the ribs with the pipe when he came off the top rope. The match quickly became bloody, with Jeff being split open as a result of repeated chair shots from Matt, who propped Jeff up with the turnbuckle to continue his chair assault. Jeff somehow continued the match, and the fight was quickly taken outside. Jeff Hardy was further injured when Matt picked up and threw the steel steps at Jeff. Matt pulled a table from under the ring, and set it up outside, placing an unconscious Jeff Hardy onto it. Matt proceeded to enter the ring and climb the turnbuckle, before hitting a sickening splash from the turnbuckle to the outside onto Jeff Hardy, sending both of them through the table. Matt rolled Jeff into the ring and went for the pinfall, but Jeff wasn’t done yet, and managed to kick out. Matt then grabbed another steel chair and waited for Jeff to get to his feet, before swinging for his skull. Jeff managed to avoid the chair before kicking it into Matt’s skull, splitting him open. By this point Jeff was covered in blood, but exited the ring and grabbed a ladder and two tables. Jeff set both tables up, before once again hitting Matt over the head with the chair when he got to his feet. Matt propped up the ladder in the ring, and threw Matt onto the tables. Jeff climbed to the top of the ladder, and provided a truly memorable WrestleMania moment when he went for the Swanton Bomb from the top of the ladder, only for Matt Hardy to somehow move out of the way and Jeff Hardy’s momentum to send him crashing through the two tables. As the referee attempted to check on the bloodied and broken body of Jeff Hardy Matt pulled him away and lifted Jeff to his feet. Matt set up another ladder directly next to the first, before placing a chair beneath it. Matt ascended one ladder, and pulled Jeff up the other, before delivering a sick Twist of Fate from halfway up the ladder, with Jeff’s head being sent straight into the chair. Matt rolled Jeff over, and got the pinfall over his unconscious brother.
Following the match the referee and several medics checked on Jeff Hardy, who was completely out of it, with blood completely covering his face. Matt just stood there with a sadistic grin.
WrestleMania 25 cuts backstage where Stone Cold Steve Austin and Ricky Steamboat are sharing a beer. Edge walks past on his way to the ring and stops, before saying “what the hell” to the pair. Austin goes “What”, and every time Edge attempts to say something Austin stops him by saying “what”, with the live crowd shouting it out as well. This goes on for about half a minute before Edge just storms off, leaving Austin to have a drink as WrestleMania cuts to a video package, promoting the upcoming WWE Championship match.
Mr. Kennedy enters first doing his own introduction, which echoed throughout the arena on the sound system. Alter Bridge were already standing on the stage, and began performing Metalingus live as Edge entered. The ramp way altered, becoming thinner, and large spikes emerged from the ramp, moving about like waves. Edge made his way down the ramp, with a massive pyro display hitting when he got midway. The entrance was really entertaining, and the spike affect was incredible.
Edge Defeated Mr. Kennedy to Retain the WWE ChampionshipThis was probably the match that people were lest expecting to steal the show out of the three main events, but Edge and Kennedy definitely put on an incredible match. The fans were already pretty pumped following Edge’s entrance, and these two made sure to keep the match quick paced. The two had the traditional feeling out period, where neither men really wanted to jump right in, until Kennedy just tackled Edge to the ground and unloaded with lefts and rights. Edge rolled out of the ring to escape, only for Kennedy to dive through the middle rope to continue the assault. The match went back to the ring quickly, with Edge getting back into the match following a drop toe hold/ dropkick to the head combination. From here the match became very back and forth, with neither man getting a chance to pick up the win. Edge did show his superior experience when he grabbed the top rope when Kennedy was charging at him and pulled it down with him, sending Kennedy flying to the outside. Kennedy recovered, but when he entered the ring Edge was already on him, stomping him on the ground. Edge took the time to taunt the fans, which gave Kennedy time to recover and dropkick Edge from behind, sending him into the turnbuckle. Kennedy then attempted what looked like a top rope suplex, but Edge countered it before he had the chance, delivering a reverse suplex from the top rope, sending Kennedy face first to the mat. Edge then prepared to deliver the Spear, but Kennedy moved when he charged, sending Edge shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Kennedy then delivered the Mic Check, and was moments away from becoming the new WWE Champion when Edge got a foot on the bottom rope. Kennedy, obviously showing frustration, attempted another Mic Check, only for Edge to reverse it into a neckbreaker. Both men were out of it and the referee began the ten count. Kennedy and Edge got to their feet around the same time, with Edge using the ropes for assistance. Kennedy walked towards Edge, only for Edge to turn around, charge, and hit the Spear out of nowhere. Edge went for the pinfall, but Kennedy kicked out just before the three. It was now Edge’s turn to be frustrated, and he crouched in the opposite corner, waiting for Kennedy to get to his feet. Kennedy eventually did, and turned around straight into another Spear. Kennedy didn’t have it in him to kick out this time, and Edge got the pinfall to retain the WWE Championship.
Edge is handed the WWE Championship, and drops to his knees from exhaustion, holding the title. He ascends the turnbuckle, holding the title above him to a mix of jeers and applaud.
We then cut backstage to John Cena. Cena talks about how tonight is the biggest night of his life. How tonight he has to face both Chris Jericho and Randy Orton, and how he has to beat both of them if he wants to become the World Heavyweight champion once again. Cena states that tonight he gets the chance to headline WrestleMania once again, and promises that he will not waste it, and that tomorrow night on RAW, he will arrive as the new World Heavyweight Champion. A video package then airs, highlighting The Undertaker’s 16-0 record at WrestleMania, and how Triple H will attempt to end it next.
Triple H enters first, using the King of Kings theme, being carried to the ring on top of a throne by what I can assume are several development workers. The Undertaker went one step further, having the Druids out first with flaming torches, before being brought to the ring in a Horse drawn carriage while carrying a Scythe, portraying the physical embodiment of death.
The Undertaker Defeated Triple HThe atmosphere in the crowd was electric from the moment the bell rang, and there was a serious feel that Triple H may very well end the streak tonight, simply because it’s Triple H. As you’d expect, this match was built on psychological warfare as much as physical warfare, which the match featured a lot of as well. The opening part of the match was very back and forth, with both men focusing on their striking game, before Triple H connected with a big knee that seemed to take the match to the next level. The match quickly became about big power moves, but there were parts with some fast paced action. Undertaker managed to counter another running knee attempt, and quickly began building up momentum with a series of strikes, topped off by an Irish whip followed by a big boot. Triple H managed to get back into the match by countering an Old School attempt, hanging The Undertaker up on the ropes. The match continued very back and forth from here, and while it had its moments there wasn’t anything that indicated the streak could end until the latter parts of the match. With the crowd red hot, and both The Undertaker and Triple H exhausted, The Undertaker set Triple H up for the Chokeslam, when Triple H forced out of the move, and delivered a big Pedigree to Undertaker, which got a really close near fall, and got a few members of the crowd on their feet. Triple H set Undertaker up for a second Pedigree, but Undertaker managed to power out of it. There was a steady back and forth for several minutes before the Undertaker caught Triple H with a chokeslam when Triple H attempted a double axe handle off the top rope. There was definitely a sense that this could be it, but Triple H kicked out at the last minute. Undertaker then attempted the last ride, only for Triple H to escape out the back and deliver a vicious Spinebuster. Triple H went for the Pedigree yet again, only for Undertaker to somehow counter it and manoeuvre Triple H into the Last Ride position once again. Yet again Triple H slid out the back, and this time delivered one of the most vicious Pedigree’s we’ve ever witnessed. Triple H went for the pin, and it seemed inevitable that Triple H was about to get the win. The atmosphere was incredibly tense, and when the referee counted two Jim Ross could be heard screaming “It’s over, the streak is over”. Just as the referee was about to count three Undertaker somehow got a shoulder up out of nowhere, with the crowd reaction being near deafening. Triple H had this look that seemed to say “what the hell do I have to do?” Triple H went to pull The Undertaker up, but out of nowhere Undertaker unloaded with a massive right hand that rocked Triple H. Undertaker followed up with several more right hands while still looking extremely unsteady. Undertaker was slowly gaining momentum with each right hand, and the crowd were getting louder by the minute, but then Triple H just delivered a kick to the gut, and delivered yet another Pedigree. The whole arena went silent as Triple H just kneeled there as a grin slowly began to creep across his face. Triple H crawled over to the Undertaker, who suddenly sat up, which got the biggest pop I have ever heard in wrestling. Triple H just looked horrified as Undertaker got to his feet and pointed at him, before doing the throat cut gesture. Triple H began unloading with right hands, but out of nowhere Undertaker just scooped him up and delivered a massive Tombstone Piledriver. Undertaker managed to drape an arm over Triple H, and the referee counted to three, giving the Undertaker the win in a classic WrestleMania match.
The Undertaker’s music begins playing, as JR just screams “bah gawd, The Undertaker has done it. The Undertaker is 17 and 0.” The Undertaker gets onto one knee, and poses over the broken body of Triple H.
WrestleMania cuts backstage, where Chris Jericho is standing, World Heavyweight Championship draped over his shoulder, staring at the camera. Jericho states that up next, he faces two men who want his World Championship. Jericho then states that tonight, he beats two men who want his World Heavyweight Championship. Chris Jericho promises to walk in and out of the main event as a champion, because this is his night to shine in front of all the cowards who will never get that chance.
Randy Orton enters first without any special entrance, clearly focused solely on the match at hand. John Cena was out next. A massive pyro display erupted on the stage, and after several minutes John Cena walked clean through it to a good pop. With each step down the ramp another set of pyro would go off by the side of the stage until he got to the ramp, where an ever bigger pyro display erupted, briefly spelling out “Cena” in the area above the stage. Chris Jericho’s music hits, and suddenly a laser display showing binary code covered the whole stage area, essentially making a 3D version of Chris Jericho’s entrance video. Chris Jericho walks out, and walks through the display, which was an incredible sight.
Randy Orton Defeated Chris Jericho and John Cena to Become the New World Heavyweight ChampionEveryone had their doubts whether this would even come close to matching up to the previous match, and while it didn’t have the same heart pounding feel at times it was still a superb match. The start of the match was interesting, with Jericho keeping out of the way while Cena and Orton continued their war from the past few weeks. Cena soon clotheslined Orton over the top rope, and just suddenly tacked Jericho to the ground Lou Thesz style. Orton attack Cena from behind, and Orton and Jericho spent several minutes double teaming Cena until Jericho attempted to roll up Orton, getting a near fall. Following this Randy Orton nailed Jericho with a European uppercut, and the match descended into chaos, with all three men brawling inside and outside the ring. All three men capitalised on the fact that this match had no rules, and so a large portion of the middle part of the match was spent brawling outside the ring. At one point John Cena clotheslined both himself and Randy Orton over the security barricade and into the crowd. Jericho attempted to use this to his advantage by dragging Cena back into the ring, but before he could Cena sent him head first into the steel steps. Cena slammed Jericho’s skull into the steel steps multiple times, only for Orton to recover and attack him from behind, delivering a brutal DDT on the floor. Randy then ripped apart the ECW announce table, and dragged Cena onto it. Orton attempted to deliver a RKO onto the announce table, but Cena reversed it, and delivered a DDT onto the table, that didn’t break. With both Cena and Orton out cold on the unbroken announce table Chris Jericho pulled a ladder from under the ring, and in an insane spot reminiscent of the Street Fight earlier tonight delivered a splash from the top of the ladder that sent all three men crashing through the announce table. All three were left in a broken pile where the announce table had once been, and while the referee attempted to check on them Jericho used the referee’s shirt to get to his feet. Jericho dragged a groggy Cena into the ring, and delivered the Codebreaker. Jericho went for the pinfall, and was moments away from winning when Randy Orton rolled into the ring and broke up the pinfall. Orton mounted Cena, and delivered some big right hands to the skull, one of which must have split Cena open as when he got to his feet blood was tricking from a gash to his skull. Orton set Jericho up for the RKO, but Jericho countered the move and locked Orton in the Walls of Jericho. It looked like Randy was moments from tapping out when a now bloody John Cena broke up the hold. John Cena and Chris Jericho began to exchange signature moves, until John Cena attempted the Attitude Adjustment. Jericho slipped out the back, and locked in the Walls of Jericho, and with Orton seemingly out of it there was nobody to break up the hold. Cena nearly got to the ropes, but Jericho dragged him away. After being locked in the hold for what seemed like minutes Cena passed out. The referee was checking on Cena, doing the whole three arm lift thing, when Randy Orton came out of nowhere from behind Chris Jericho and delivered an RKO to him while he still had the hold locked in. Randy Orton got an arm over Jericho, and with Cena still out cold there was nobody to break up the pin. The referee counted to three and the crowd reacted loudly when Randy Orton was announced as the winner.
Randy Orton manages to get to his feet, and is announced as the new World Heavyweight Champion. He is handed the title, and begins to celebrate. Randy Orton ascends the turnbuckle with the title, raising it in the air as confetti began to fall, and a massive pyro display signalled that WrestleMania 25 was coming to an end. WrestleMania 25 comes to an end with Randy Orton standing tall in the centre of the ring, holding his newly won World Heavyweight Championship having won the main event of WrestleMania 25.
