20th April 2009The RAW opening video package airs, and is followed by Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler welcoming us to the show, promoting the action featured tonight, including the debut of the Hollywood Blondes and Chris Jericho vs. Ted DiBiase in the main event. Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring to kick off RAW. Jericho is handed a microphone, and talks about how tonight will be his final night competing on RAW, which got a big boo. Jericho went on to apologize, because at Backlash he intends to leave RAW without a world title when he defeats the World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, and takes the World Heavyweight title with him to Friday nights. Jericho is interrupted by Ted DiBiase, without Legacy, who told Jericho that he needs to worry more about tonight than this Sunday, because tonight he goes one on one with the future of this business, Ted DiBiase. Jericho tells DiBiase that he isn’t anything yet, and that his father, the Million Dollar Man, has more chance of defeating him that DiBiase does. Ted DiBiase tells Jericho that talk is cheap, and that tonight he’ll show him exactly why he is a future World Champion, by beating a former champion who is past his prime. DiBiase heads backstage while Jericho watches on straight faced. RAW then cuts to commercial. Returning from commercial a recap video airs showing Matt Hardy’s promo on the debut episode of WWE Superstars, where he promised not only the defeat Mr. Kennedy at Backlash, but to humiliate him. Matt Hardy vs. Kofi KingstonThe opening match of tonights RAW saw the first match featuring Matt Hardy since he was drafted over to RAW. Kingston was clearly the fan favourite here, but that didn’t matter to Matt, who did everything he could to keep control throughout a lot of the match, although Kingston did get in a lot of his unique offence. Matt attempted to keep Kingston grounded by working the knee, but he only managed to keep Kingston down when he dropkicked Kingston’s knee against the steel steps on the outside. Kingston attempted to stay in the match but he was in too much pain, allowing Matt to connect with the Twist of Fate for the win. Winner: Matt HardyFollowing the match Matt Hardy only has chance to have his arm raised as the winner when Mr. Kennedy interrupted on the stage, sarcastically congratulating Matt Hardy on his victory. Kennedy proceeds to tell Matt that this Sunday the two of them will go one on one once again and that this time he intends to shut Matt Hardy’s mouth for good because nobody wants to hear him running his mouth during time that a true microphone master could grace everyone with their presence, such as himself, the one and only Mr. Kennedy... Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy walks backstage as RAW cuts to commercial. Prior to their debut the Hollywood Blondes make their way to the ring. Wesley Holliday requests a microphone and introduces herself before introducing Dylan Klein and Kris Logan. She promises that together the three of them are going to dominate RAW, and that the domination begins right now. The Hollywood Blondes W/ Wesley Holliday vs. DJ Gabriel & Ezekial JacksonThe in ring debut of the highly anticipated Hollywood Blondes certainly didn’t fail to disappoint. Dylan Klein and Kris Logan are both incredible athletes, able to both work some solid technical wrestling as well as not being afraid to go up high for some dangerous spots. DJ Gabriel and Ezekial Jackson, part of JBL’s cabinet, looked pretty impressive and came close to picking up the win at times but this was all about the Hollywood Blondes. In the end the Hollywood Blondes picked up the win with a double team finishing move they like to call the Hollywood High, which is a two man elevated jumping DDT. As soon as they connected with the Hollywood High on DJ Gabriel he was completely out of it, allowing Kris Logan to make the pinfall while Wesley Holliday distracted Ezekial Jackson on the outside. Winners: The Hollywood BlondesFollowing the match Wesley Holliday entered the ring and raised the arms of Dylan Klein and Kris Logan, while Ezekial Jackson pulls DJ Gabriel out of the ring and helps him backstage. The Hollywood Blondes remain in the ring celebrating a victory in their debut match, while Michael Cole stated that it looks like there are big things on the horizon for all three members. RAW then cuts backstage. RAW cuts backstage where WWE Women’s Champion Melina is talking to Kelly Kelly about the new Diva’s who have come to RAW in the draft. At that moment one of those Diva’s, Michelle McCool, walks up to them, telling Kelly Kelly to leave. Kelly Kelly thinks of arguing but decides against it and walks away, leaving Melina and Michelle McCool face to face. McCool tells Melina that she had better enjoy being the Women’s Champion while she can, because her days are numbered. Melina tells Michelle that she welcomes a new challenger, and a new person to defeat, which just cause Michelle to grin and walk away, leaving Melina to watch on angrily. RAW then cuts to commercial. Triple H vs. Mike KnoxTriple H made his in ring return as an official member of the RAW roster here against one of the most imposing superstars in World Wrestling Entertainment, Mike Knox. While many were thinking this was going to be a guaranteed win for Triple H it certainly didn’t look that way for the majority of the match as Mike Knox managed to control a lot of the match throughout. As the match went on Knox continued to overpower Triple H and it looked like he was definitely going to pick up the win until Triple H came out of nowhere with a jumping knee drop following an irish whip. From there Triple H began a big comeback, hitting a number of his signature moves only for Mike Knox to kick out of the move every time. Triple H was visibly frustrated at being unable to put Knox away and only just avoided a big boot before delivering the Pedigree to get the win. Winner: Triple HFollowing the match Triple H poses on the top rope when the music of the Big Show hits and the huge star makes his way to the ring. Big Show and Triple H have an intense staredown before Big Show suddenly grabs Triple H around the throat and delivers a thunderous Chokeslam. Show follows this up by locking in the Camel Clutch on an already hurt Triple H, and only lets go of the hold when Triple H passes out. Big Show taunts the crowd as the medical staff check on Triple H RAW then cuts to commercial. As RAW returns from commercial Randy Orton is shown in the locker room of Legacy. DiBiase reminds Orton that they disassociated themselves with him weeks ago and have been successful since. Orton tells Legacy that none of them have done what he has – become the World Champion. Orton tells Legacy that if they can make sure Chris Jericho is unable to make it to Backlash this Sunday then he will guarantee that DiBiase will get a future World title shot. Randy Orton then leaves Legacy to think it over and the three begin talking amongst themselves as RAW cuts away. Montel Vontavious Porter & R-Truth vs. Zack Ryder & Paul BurchillThis past week on the debut episode of WWE Superstars Zack Ryder got the win over the United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter, so this match was a chance for MVP to get payback on RAW’s cocky new star. This was also all four men’s first appearances on RAW since being drafted last week so they were both trying to impress. The crowd really got behind the face team of MVP and R-Truth and Zack Ryder did a great job as the cocky heel while Burchill played the vicious heel perfectly. The match was very back and forth and all four men were given plenty of time to show their stuff and there was some good wrestling throughout. The crowd really seemed to enjoy R-Truth’s quick and flashy style but Burchill made it his mission to take R-Truth out of the match, living up to his ‘Ripper’ nickname by focusing on R-Truth’s leg with brutal tactics, including using the ring post. The ending stretch saw MVP attempt the Playmaker only for Zack Ryder to reverse the move and connect with the Zack Attack and get the pinfall for the win. Winners: Zack Ryder & Paul BurchillZack Ryder and Paul Burchill exit the ring and head up the ramp, celebrating their victory. Ryder holds up two fingers to Montel Vontavious Porter, signalling that he now holds two pinfall victories over the United States Champion. RAW then cuts backstage. Big Show is shown in his suit leaving the arena when Josh Matthews manages to catch up with him and asks his reasons for attacking Triple H. Big Show states that on WWE Superstars he promised to make an impact here on the RAW brand and that nobody makes an impact like the Big Show. Show goes on to say that Triple H now knows what the entire RAW roster needs to learn – not to get in the Big Show’s way. Big Show goes on to say that if Triple H has a problem with that then he can meet him in the ring this Sunday at Backlash. Big show then leaves as RAW cuts to commercial. RAW returns from commercial to a video package promoting the WWE Backlash pay per view, which takes place this Sunday. It focuses on the World Heavyweight Championship match between Chris Jericho and Randy Orton. Chris Jericho vs. Ted DiBiase This was a great main event and with the draft a number of new main eventers will need to be made, and it appears Ted DiBiase is one of those who are getting a push. The announcers put over this match as Chris Jericho’s last match on the RAW brand for the immediate future due to having been drafted to SmackDown. The match started off with some quick technical wrestling with both men trying to feel each other out before the match became more technical. There was some solid psychology between these two men and it just added to this match, with both men really working hard to get the crowd into the match. Jericho was firmly in control during the early parts of the match but DiBiase soon changed that with a big chop block to Jericho’s leg. From there DiBiase just worked away at Jericho’s leg, clearly showing that he had listened hard to Orton’s offer of a title shot if DiBiase could take out Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho did come back though and soon managed to lock in the Walls of Jericho but broke the hold after Cody Rhodes ran down to the ring and got on the ring apron. While Rhodes was on the apron Harry Smith came through the crowd and waited for Jericho to turn around. Smith charged at Jericho and delivered a vicious boot to Jericho’s skull, causing the referee to call for a DQ finish. Winner (Via DQ): Chris JerichoFollowing the match all three members of Legacy continue their assault of Chris Jericho, only ending it when DiBiase delivers a big Dream Street to Chris Jericho. RAW comes to an end with the sight of World Heayweight Champion Randy Orton standing on the stage grinning with the three members of Legacy raising each other’s arms over the body of a knocked out Chris Jericho.

-Interested in who the Hollywood Blondes are -Jericho's a face? I'm confused but regardless it was a solid opening promo -Matt over Kofi is good, I hope to see Matt get a decent push. A match with Kennedy at the PPV sounds good -Hollywood Blondes winning in their debut was the right move and that they pinned Gabriel and not Jackson made sense -Melina/McCool should be better here than it was in real life -HHH beating Knox was right and a Show/HHH feud hasn't happened in a while so it's good -Really surprised Ryder pinned MVP, who is Mr. Money in the Bank. Should be a good feud though -Very good main event and I loved the ending. Dibiase looked legit in hanging with Jericho and the post match attack was great
Very good return Raw, can't wait to see more from this

21st April 2009The new opening video kicks off the show featuring all the new superstars who came over to ECW during the draft, and is followed by Todd Grisham and Matt Striker running down tonight’s card, which will be headlined by singles action as Vladamir Kozlov squares off with Tommy Dreamer. The music of The Miz hits to kick off this week’s edition of ECW on Sci-Fi. The Miz demandes a microphone, and talks about how now that John Morrison has been shipped off the SmackDown The Miz has realised that he was being held back as part of a tag team. The Miz goes on to say that he is setting his sights as high as they can go and that soon enough everybody will be calling him the ECW Heavyweight Champion. Miz finishes by saying that this is because he is the Miz, and he is awesome! The Miz vs. GoldustThe opening match of tonight’s edition of ECW on Sci-Fi pitted The Miz against one of ECW’s newest superstars Goldust. This match was actually very impressive as the Miz showed how entertaining he can be in singles action while Goldust looked better than he has in recent years, actually putting in a lot of effort and really getting the fans behind him. The match was a lot more back and forth than people originally thought it would, but eventually came to an end when The Miz connected with the Reality Check to get the pinfall and the win. Winner: The MizFollowing the match the Miz celebrates the victory, getting a negative reaction from the crowd. The Miz proceeds to grab a microphone and once again declaring that he is the Miz and that he is awesome! ECW on Sci-Fi then cuts to commercial. ECW on Sci-Fi returns from commercial where Dolph Ziggler is standing backstage with Candice Michelle, once again attempting to flirt with her. Ziggler proceeds to tell Candice that if she needs a demonstration of his abilities then she should come and watch him wipe the floor with Curt Hawkins up next. Candice agrees, saying that Ziggler had better impress her or it will be the last time he gets this close to her. Candice walks off ahead of Ziggler, who tilts his head and grins as he watches Candice Michelle walk off. Dolph Ziggler W/ Candice Michelle vs. Curt HawkinsDolph Ziggler and Curt Hawkins were both involved in tag team action on WWE Superstars, with Ziggler and his partner Tyson Kidd having gotten the win over Hawkins and Hurricane Helms. Ziggler was clearly out to impress Candice Michelle tonight, who was sitting at the ring announcer’s spot, and it was this need to impress Candice that almost cost Ziggler the match a number of times as Hawkins constantly caught Ziggler off guard with moves. Regardless Ziggler still looked impressive and now that he’s getting regular ring time could develop into one of the top stars of ECW. Ziggler showed this tonight, picking up the win following the Zig Zag. Winner: Dolph ZigglerFollowing the match Ziggler exits the ring and walks up to Candice Michelle at ringside. Ziggler poses and then offers his hand to Candice, who stands up, smiles at Ziggler and tells him to “keep trying” before walking to the back. Ziggler looks confused as ECW on Sci-Fi cut to commercial. ECW on Sci-Fi returns from commercial to the site of the ECW Heavyweight Champion Christian standing backstage with ECW interviewer Angela Fong. Angela Fong asks Christian about his thoughts on his title defence this Sunday against Vladamir Kozlov. Christian tells her that it doesn’t matter how strong or crazy Kozlov is, because he isn’t as passionate or charismatic as Captain Charisma, and that no matter what Kozlov throws at him this Sunday he’ll throw it all back at Kozlov and then some. Christian proceeds to promise victory this Sunday at Backlash, and that he’ll walk onto ECW on Sci-Fi next week still the ECW Heavyweight Champion. Christian then walks off as ECW on Sci-Fi cuts to a video package. A video package airs promoting the upcoming Backlash pay per view, focusing on the Christian/ Vladamir Kozlov match. Vladamir Kozlov vs. Tommy DreamerVladamir Kozlov is clearly getting a massive push here on ECW and with his ECW Heavyweight Championship match coming up this Sunday at Backlash this was the match that saw Kozlov established as a true threat against one of the biggest stars on ECW. Dreamer came into this match clearly determined to pick up the win and get back into the ECW Championship hunt. With both men out to prove something this match was guaranteed to be a tough match and it certainly was, with both men throwing everything they had at each other. Towards the end of the match Dreamer came off the top turnbuckle only for Kozlov to nail Dreamer with the Battering Ram, sending Dreamer flying backwards and landing awkwardly on his back. Dreamer continued the rest of the match obviously in pain and was soon laid out by Kozlov with the Iron Curtain, quickly followed by the pinfall to give Kozlov the victory. Winner: Vladamir KozlovAs Vladamir Kozlov celebrates his victory the referee checks on Tommy Dreamer, who looks in actual pain in the ring. The ECW Heavyweight Champion Christian walks out onto the stage and stairs down the number one contender Vladamir Kozlov as ECW on Sci-Fi goes off the air.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 21st April 2009...I unfortunately lost touch with this diary upon its return to the board, so let's see if it pars up to what it used to be. I hope that The Miz is still appreciated well on the ECW brand now that he is a solo superstar, and also that Miz and John Morrison's team concludes with a rivalry. Miz beating Goldust hopefully is the start of Miz's route to the ECW Championship, him and Morrison would make a great rivalry if their roads on each brand were identical almost to the other. Hehe, sneaky Dolph Ziggler with Candice Michelle. Was acceptable that Ziggler be put on the ECW brand as he didn't have too much going for him on the RAW brand. Same goes for Curt Hawkins with the SmackDown brand, and I also think that Hawkins suits well as a face. Christian facing Vladimir Kozlov at Backlash for the ECW Championship sounds superb, should be a good battle for definite. A nice main event there, with Tommy Dreamer being sacrificed to Kozlov, giving Kozlov a brutal edge, five days from the meeting with Christian at Backlash. Entertaining read overall.

ECW: I wasn't around when you started this, so I'm gonna start reading at ECW. Kozlov vs Dreamer sounds realitic and decent, looking forward to it. Morrison on SmackDown! is great. I hope you push the Miz to the ECW Title. Miz wasn't using that catchphrase back then but o'well. If Miz lost that match it would've been a rookie mistake, glad he won, Goldust is awesome but pointless now you need to do something with him or release him, jobbing isn't a good idea not saying that match was a squash but its the start of a road down hill for goldust. Please push Ziggler, he has the potential and Candice could be a good valet. Is Hawkins face or heel? either way ECW is a nice choice, I think you need another title on ECW for the midcarders like Hawkins and Ziggler. Glad Ziggler won. I'm intreguied to see who Ziggler faces next week. Hoping Christian retains at Backlash, Kozlov doesn't deserve to be champion. Main Event time, Kozlov should win since he has a title match sunday. You did the right think by putting Kozlov over, I wonder if Dreamer's injury will be long term. I love stare downs, dunno why. ECW was great, very realistic and an enjoyable read, I'll be following this diary now, keep it up.

ECW, nice simple Miz promo, this Miz push should be intresting, love the Ziggler/Candice story esp as it keeps Candice from wrestling and gives Zig a nice push, Christian build is nice, hopefully Vlad dosn't win then goes to midcard as I'm not a big fan of his, it was obvious Vlad was going over but what else can you do on the final show before the PPV, its a nice layout and a great length for me as it kept my attention and was fun to read, no Kidd makes me unhappy but he was on Superstars, good luck and keep this up

23rd April 2009The Superstars opening video airs, showing superstars from all three brands and is followed by all three individual announce teams running down their respective brands match tonight, headlined by a World Tag Team Championship match. WWE Superstars kicks off with the music of SmackDown’s John Morrison making his way to the ring. Before his match begins though Morrison demands a microphone and proceeds to blame Shawn Michaels for him losing in the number one contender match last week on SmackDown. Morrison states that while Michaels may be a living legend he has to learn that it is the young rising talent of WWE that is truly why the fans watch, and that Morrison is the fastest rising talent right now. Morrison goes on to announce that he has spoken to SmackDown general manager Eric Bischoff and that at Backlash it will be Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison one on one. Morrison drops the microphone and prepares for his match while the crowd are pretty pumped at the announcement. John Morrison vs. KizarneyFollowing Morrison’s big announcement the crowd were all ready pretty pumped so the atmosphere prior to this match was electric. This match wasn’t actually a squash match as Kizarney got in a lot of offence but this was always going to be John Morrison’s night as he controlled a lot of the latter parts of the match, eventually finishing Kizarney off with the Starship Pain. Winner: John MorrisonJohn Morrison assends the turnbuckle and raises his arm in celebration, shouting that Shawn Michaels will fall at Backlash. WWE Superstars then cuts to commercial. WWE Superstars returns from commercial to show Shad Gaspard backstage making his way to the ring area for his upcoming match. He bumps into Santino Marella who begins making fun of Shad now that he hasn’t got any of his “homies” to help him in his match. Santino attempts to rap but Shad just pushes him over into a load of cardboard boxes. Shad laughs and walks off as Santino is shown unable to get himself out of the pile of cardboard boxes. WWE Superstars then cuts to a video package. A video package airs, promoting the 2009 Backlash pay per view, focusing on the Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho World Championship match and the Edge vs. Rey Mysterio WWE Championships match. Shad Gaspard vs. Charlie HaasThis match pitted ECW’s new draftee Shad Gaspard against a man who has been established as a true threat on the ECW brand, Charlie Haas. This match was a lot more competitive than the previous SmackDown showing but just didn’t have the same kind of crowd atmosphere that John Morrison managed to build up. Both men looked good and the announcers put both of them over saying that they’re both threats to the ECW title but there could only be one winner tonight as Shad Gaspard connected with a massive belly to back suplex to pick up the pinfall victory. Winner: Shad GaspardFollowing the match Shad Gaspard celebrates his debut victory as an ECW superstar with Matt Striker plugging how Gaspard could be a massive threat on ECW. WWE Superstars then cuts to commercial. WWE Superstars returns from commercial where Josh Matthews is standing by with Zack Ryder. Matthews asks Ryder about how it feels to hold two pinfall victories over the United States Champion Montel Vontavious Porter. Ryder tells him that it doesn’t matter how it feels now because he still hasn’t got the United States Championship around his waist, and that’s the only thing that matters to him. Ryder tells Montel Vontavious Porter to keep the United States Championship shiny because soon enough Ryder will be coming to take it from him. Ryder ends the interview with “You know it” before walking off. World Tag Team Championship Match Harry Smith & Cody Rhodes vs. Kofi Kingston & R-TruthThe main event of tonight’s WWE Superstars event pitted the World Tag Team Champions against two of the most popular midcard guys on RAW right now. The biggest problem with this match is that Kingston & R-Truth are clearly a thrown together tag team and that just shows the weakness of the current WWE tag team division. Despite this the match itself was one of the best World Tag Team Championship matches in recent months mainly down to the top notch performances by all four superstars. The match was extremely close and there was times when it seriously appeared like we’d have new tag team champions but in the end Harry Smith connected with the Running Powerslam on Kingston and got the pinfall while Cody Rhodes held R-Truth on the outside of the ring to ensure the three count. Winners: Harry Smith & Cody RhodesAs this edition of WWE Superstars comes to an end Harry Smith & Cody Rhodes are shown celebrating in the ring with their World Tag Team Championships while R-Truth checks on Kofi Kingston on the outside.

WWE Superstars: Thursday 23rd April 2009...Decent way to kick off the show with John Morrison entering and cutting a pre-match promo regarding his feud with Shawn Michaels, and the match the two are expected to have at Backlash should be good, but hasn't this uppercard match been left a little late to be announced? Backlash is on April 26th right? I feel it could have been announced a week earlier. Nice win for Morrison there, by beating Kizarny, also, but it didn't prove too much. I'd of preferred either giving Morrison a stronger adversary for this match, or having somebody else involved and Morrison's promo being on SmackDown. Has Shad Gaspard and JTG been disbanded by the WWE Draft? Hmm, wonder what Shad will do now. Better yet, what will JTG do. Santino Marella being involved there was nice. Good win for Shad over Charlie Haas, depressing that Haas is still nothing. I expect he will grow into a much larger role in the future. The segment with WWE United States Champion, Montel Vontavious Porter and Zack Ryder sure was interesting, just hoping you don't rush into anything with these two. That feud would be good but MVP would have to win as Ryder has just taken the solo run and it'd be too soon. Challenging stuff, if you wanna keep Ryder over too. Great main event for the World Tag Team Championships with Harry Smith and Cody Rhodes overcoming Kofi Kingston and R-Truth, was a solid main event and got Legacy over. A decent show overall; And I personally hate Superstars.

24th April 2009Chavo Guerrero Defeated Kung Fu NakiSmackDown’s dark match pitted two cruiserweights against each other in an exciting, if a little short, match which saw Chavo Guerrero connect with the Frog Splash to pick up the win. The SmackDown video package airs and is followed by the usual pyrotechnics. Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to the show and plug how this is the final edition of SmackDown before Backlash this Sunday. The music of Shawn Michaels hits as the Heartbreak Kid makes his way to the ring to a chorus of cheers from the live crowd. Michaels enters the ring, does his usual pose and then requests a microphone. Shawn Michaels talks about how John Morrison has proven that he is a rising talent in the WWE but has yet to prove that he can beat the Heartbreak Kid and until he does that he’ll still be a nobody. Shawn Michaels goes on to accept the challenge that John Morrison laid down on Superstars and that at Backlash it will be Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison one on one. Michaels is interrupted by the SmackDown general manager Eric Bischoff who makes the match official, and then announces that tonight’s main event will be a tag team match pitting Rey Mysterio & Shawn Michaels against the World Heavyweight Champion Edge and his partner John Morrison. SmackDown cuts to commercial with Eric Bischoff grinning and the crowd giving the match announcement a good reaction. The New Samoans vs. Jesse & FestusThe New Samoans made their official in ring debut after their attack on the WWE Tag Team Champions the Colons last week. This wasn’t a really competitive match and if this is anything to go by then Jesse & Festus could be heading for unemployment before long, as the New Samoans tore through them, with Saku pinning Jesse following a massive Samoan Drop. Winners: The New SamoansSmackDown cuts backstage where SmackDown interviewer Eve is standing by with CM Punk. Eve asks Punk for his thoughts on his Backlash match with Evan Bourne. Punk rips into Bourne, stating that if he thinks he’s coming anywhere near his Intercontinental Championshipship then he’s obviously been smoking something he shouldn’t be. CM Punk promises that at Backlash he’ll teach Evan Bourne a lesson he’s been trying to teach all the alcoholics and drug addicts that infect tonight’s crowd – that only when they accept CM Punk as their straight edge saviour will they have any chance of being saved. CM Punk walks off as SmackDown cuts to commercial. The Brian Kendrick vs. Jimmy Wang YangThe action continued on SmackDown as the Cruiserweight Champion clashed with Jimmy Wang Yang in some fast paced action. This match was a lot more back and forth than many would usually expect and it has become clear that the cruiserweight division is being given plenty of time to develop on SmackDown. This match was pretty exciting with plenty of high flying action and a few good spots from both men, but in the end there had to be a winner and The Brian Kendrick was that man, connected with The Kendrick to get the three count. Winner: The Brian KendrickFollowing the match The Brian Kendrick sets Jimmy Wang Yang up for a second The Kendrick but is stopped by the music of Jamie Noble. Noble sprints down to the ring but The Brian Kendrick has already exited. Kendrick grabs his Cruiserweight championship and heads backstage while Jamie Noble glares at him from inside the ring. A video package airs promoting this Sunday’s Backlash pay per view. It focuses on the WWE Heavyweight Championship match between Edge and Rey Mysterio. SmackDown then cuts to a commercial. SmackDown returns from commercial to the site of SmackDown interviewer Eve alongside WWE Diva’s Champion Maryse. Eve asks Maryse is she is worried going into her Diva’s Championship defence against Beth Phoenix this Sunday at Backlash. Maryse snatches the microphone off of her and tells her that there’s no reason to be afraid of some butch cow like Beth Phoenix and that it is Beth Phoenix who should be afraid of stepping into the ring with the best Diva of all time. Maryse then drops the microphone down on the floor and walks off, leaving Eve slightly shaken. Beth Phoenix vs. MariaDiva’s action was up next as the number one contender to the WWE Diva’s Championship at Backlash went one on one with Maria in a slightly competitive match. This was clearly about making Beth Phoenix look dominant but that didn’t mean that Maria was made to look weak here as she actually got in a fair bit of offence and came close to winning at one point. The ending stretch saw Maria go for a DDT only for Phoenix to lift Maria into the air and throw her across the ring, following up with the Glam Slam for the victory. Winner: Beth PhoenixBeth Phoenix celebrates the win, shouting “You should be afraid” and signalling for the WWE Diva’s Championship as a warning to her Backlash opponent Maryse. SmackDown then cuts to commercial. SmackDown returns from commercial to the sight of John Morrison lacing up his boots for tonight’s main event when the World Heavyweight Champion Edge walks into his locker room. The two share a slight moment of tension before Edge asks Morrison if he is ready for tonight’s big tag team main event. Edge tells him that tonight he needs to go out and impress the WWE Champion and Morrison replies by telling Edge he doesn’t need to impress anyone but himself, which gets a small pop from the crowd. Morrison tells Edge he’ll see him out there which leads to Edge looking angry before walking out. Shelton Benjamin vs. Evan BourneThis was an incredible match as the number one contender to the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash went one on one with the self professed Gold Standard in an incredibly close match that could easily have gone either way. Both mean went all out in this match, throwing everything they had at their opponent and putting their own health in danger a number of times to connect with some dangerous spots, one in particular seeing Benjamin connecting with a flying crossbody off the top turnbuckle to the outside. The crowd really got into this match which just added to the atmosphere in this arena that these two superstars had developed in this match. The fact that this went a good fifteen to twenty minutes just shows how much faith was put in these two. The ending stretch saw Benjamin go for another top rope crossbody to Bourne, who managed to dodge the move and connect with the headscissors takedown. Bourne then assended the top rope and connected with the Air Bourne to pick up the pinfall victory. Winner: Evan Bourne Following the match Evan Bourne struggled to his feet and the match got a ‘Match of the Year’ Chant when out of nowhere the Intercontinental Champion CM Punk slid into the ring behind Evan Bourne, swung him around and delivered a GTS to the already hurt Evan Bourne. CM Punk raised his Intercontinental Championship in the air and placed his foot onto the chest of Evan Bourne, getting an incredible amount of heat from the crowd. SmackDown fades backstage with the site of CM Punk grinning to the camera. SmackDown cuts backstage where William Regal and Katie Lea are discussing her move away from Paul Burchill. Suddenly Jack Swagger appears behind William Regal. Regal turns around and the two have a tense staredown before Regal tells Swagger to push off because nobody is impressed by him, especially not him. Swagger tells Regal to put his money where his mouth is and face him in singles action next week on SmackDown. William Regal quickly accepts the challenge, saying he welcomes the chance to teach Jack Swagger some manners. Swagger grins and walks off while Regal and Katie Lea stare after him. SmackDown then cuts to commercial. Edge & John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio & Shawn MichaelsThe main event of tonight’s SmackDown broadcast pitted four superstars involved in two of SmackDown’s main feuds just days before Backlash, which meant this match was pretty tense as all four wanted to gain the momentum before the pay per view. Mysterio and Shawn Michaels worked well as a team, working together to keep momentum on their side. Edge and John Morrison on the other hand had noticeable difficulties during their match, with Morrison refusing to use underhanded techniques during the match and showing some signs of a potential face turn down the line, with Morrison getting a good pop from the crowd when he stopped Edge grabbing a steel chair from ringside at one point during the match. The match was still fairly competitive despite these problems between the one team, and Edge and Morrison came close to winning a number of times but in the end it was communication problems that would be their downfall. As Edge went for the Spear on Shawn Michaels the Heart Break Kid managed to dodge the move and Edge collided with Morrison on the ring apron, sending Morrison crashing to the floor. Edge would then turn around straight into the Sweet Chin Music, allowing Shawn Michaels to get the pinfall on the World Heavyweight Champion. Winners: Rey Mysterio & Shawn MichaelsFollowing the match Edge rolls out of the ring and John Morrison starts screaming at him for costing them the match. Edge grabs his World Heavyweight Championship and walks towards the back while the final SmackDown before Backlash goes off the air with Shawn Michaels and the number one competitor to the World Heavyweight Championship Rey Mysterio celebrating their big main event victory in the ring.

WWE SmackDown: Friday 24th April 2009...Nice that you included mention of the dark match, would have been a nice match there, Chavo Guerrero winning is strange as mainly faces win in dark matches. Good promo to set the scene for tonight's main event, and it should be a great match at Backlash by the way, between Shawn Michaels and John Morrison. I hope that feud expands into the summer, also. That'd be great. What I am not fond about when it comes to new teams coming into WWE is that they will make an impact and kill a resident tag team. It proves dominance, sure, but isn't good. I hope you find something for Jesse and Festus to do. CM Punk feuding with Evan Bourne...in my eyes shows a step down for Punk. Sure, Bourne could have moved up the card, but I just don't feel it in a way. The Brian Kendrick beating Jimmy Wang Yang is fine, wasn't anything too important. Kendrick as WWE Cruiserweight Champion is neat, but the title returning and regaining respect wouldn't happen. Edge against Rey Mysterio sounds like an interesting match. Glad Beth Phoenix is on SmackDown and beating Maria. Beth can show dominance in longer matches here, good decision to move her here. Evan Bourne beating Shelton Benjamin is great for Bourne, but what's for Shelton? Hmm. Not sure about the 'match of the year' chant considering that only happens on pay-per-view, rarely. Oh, Punk is WWE Intercontinental Champion. It's clear to me now. Jack Swagger should be competing, not fooling around in segments with Paul Burchill and William Regal. I just wish that Regal was heel where he belongs. Fantastic tag team main event to set up the two main SmackDown matches for Backlash. Was an enjoyable show overall.

Nice layout, I should reply more often, liking the Morrison/HBK start, the New Samoans are intresting, Punk/Bourne sounds awsome although I would like Punk to go into Main event possubly after losing the title to Bourne, the Cru title being back is good and TBK is a great champ glad he won, meh divas never intrest me sorry, great singles match but I hope Shelton does something in the future, Swagger/Regal who's face? should be a good match though, main event was good and would have been happy with either team winning, could you reply to ROH thanks, gl and keep this up

World Wrestling Entertainment Release Festus & Jillian HallWorld Wrestling Entertainment has come to terms on the release of RAW diva Jillian Hall and SmackDown superstar Festus as of the 25th of April 2009. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours. World Wrestling Entertainment News & Notes- WWE.COM has confirmed that Triple H vs. Big Show and Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison will take place this Sunday at Summerslam. - There’s been a lot of talk about unifying that tag team championship belts sometime in the next few months. There was talk about this prior to WrestleMania but it was decided that it wouldn’t leave enough room for certain tag teams. Of course following the draft several tag teams have been split up so the tag division isn’t exactly at its peak. Whether the unification goes ahead is still undecided although its likely that a decision will be made in the coming days. - During the ECW on Sci-Fi main event Tommy Dreamer was actually injured when Kozlov connected with the Battering Ram. Dreamer landed awkwardly on his back and apparently did some minor damage to his spine. The injury will put him out of action for about six weeks while Dreamer recovers. No news on whether he will be kept on air at all during that time. - It was announced on WWE.COM today that Jillian Hall and Festus have been released from their contracts. It looks like this was both a cost cutting measure and a way to free up room on the roster for talent to be called up from development in the near future. Neither has been involved in any big storylines recently and creative didn’t have anything for them.
