I'm a Paul Burchill fan, but I've got to agree with PC on how I dislike every diary pushing him to the moon and back. It sucks that Mizorrison will be splitting up because of the draft, but I hope you give them both nice singles pushes. Great stuff that Christian retained the ECW Championship over Swagger.

10th April 2009A WrestleMania 25 highlight video airs, promoting the SmackDown side of the event, and is followed by the SmackDown opening video and pyrotechnics. Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to the show and hype the WWE Draft this Monday. Matt Hardy’s music hits as the man who beat his brother at WrestleMania 25 makes his way to the ring getting a lot of heat in the process. Matt requests a microphone, and tells the crowd that on Sunday night he finally achieved his destiny by not only defeating, but destroying his brother Jeff Hardy. Matt states that now everybody knows who is the better brother, and that he is now onto bigger and better things. He is interrupted by Mr. Kennedy, who walks onto the stage to a huge pop. Matt tells Kennedy that this is a winners celebration, and that Kennedy proved he was a loser at WrestleMania. Kennedy tells Matt that he needs to shut his mouth, because nobody wants to hear him talk (big pop). Kennedy tells Matt that he’s a disgrace to the Hardy name, before challenging him to a match tonight. Matt agrees and the two stare each other down as SmackDown cuts to a commercial. A recap video is aired plugging The Brian Kendrick’s Cruiserweight Championship victory over Hurricane Helms at WrestlerMania 25. WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match The Brian Kendrick Defeated Kung Fu NakiThis was The Brian Kendrick’s first title defence of his newly won Cruiserweight Championship, and it didn’t fail to impress. Kung Fu Naki isn’t much more than job fodder now a days, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him cut in the upcoming roster cuts. Kendrick was in firm control but there were some fun back and forth exchanges between the two before Kendrick connected with The Kendrick for the win. Following the match Kendrick grabs his Cruiserweight title and dances backstage, looking pleased with his win. SmackDown cuts backstage where Curt Hawkins is attempting to get Zack Ryder pumped up for their WWE Tag Team Championship match later tonight. Ryder’s completely ignoring Hawkins, and when Hawkins asks if he is listening to him Ryder just stands up and walks off, leaving Hawkins looking confused. SmackDown then cuts to a commercial. Michelle McCool Defeated MariaA surprisingly good Diva’s match here. Maria has never been the best in the ring, but she had the live crowd completely behind her which is clearly what was intended. McCool definitely carried this but as a result it was a fun match that was kept short. McCool was in control throughout, and eventually connected with the Faithbreaker for the win. Following the match Michelle McCool celebrates the win, before noticing that Maria has got to her knees. McCool grins, before delivering a big kick to the side of the head of Maria. Maria slumps to the ground as McCool signals that she wants the WWE Diva’s title. SmackDown then cuts to a commercial. Returning from commercial the WWE Champion Edge makes his way to the ring, getting a mixed reaction from the live audience. Edge talks about how at WrestleMania 25 he proved all the doubters wrong, he proved that he isn’t a paper champion, that the WWE Championship belongs with him. He then goes on to say that there isn’t anyone on SmackDown left for him to defend it against, but is then interrupted by SmackDown general manager Eric Bischoff. Bischoff tells Edge that he may very well be correct, but that it doesn’t matter because this Monday night a host of fresh faces will be drafted to SmackDown, and that next week on SmackDown, four of them will clash in an Elimination match with the winner challenging Edge for the WWE Championship at Backlash. Bischoff walks backstage, leaving Edge furious as SmackDown cuts to commercial. A video package airs plugging this Monday’s three hour special of Monday night RAW, where the WWE draft will take place. WWE Tag Team Championship Match The Colons Defeated Zack Ryder & Curt HawkinsThere was some clear tension between Hawkins & Ryder during this match, but mostly only from Ryder. Hawkins & Ryder did show some good teamwork, isolating Primo through quick tags, keeping him in their corner and stopping Carlito from even getting into the match. Primo attempted to fight back numerous times, but usually fell short. Carlito didn’t get into the match at all until the ending stretch, when Primo managed to make the hot tag. Carlito charged the ring, taking out Ryder on the apron, and quickly connecting with the Back Cracker on Hawkins to get the pinfall. Following the match Carlito & Primo make their way up the ramps with their WWE Tag Team Championships. Zack Ryder gets into the ring, and looks at Hawkins in disbelief over the fact that he got pinned so quickly in a match they were dominating. Hawkins asks Ryder “what?” and Ryder just levels Hawkins with a vicious boot to the skull, knocking him out cold. Ryder walks backstage with a grin on his face, getting a good amount of heat in the process. SmackDown fades to commercial on the sight of Curt Hawkins out cold in the middle of the ring. Returning from commercial Jim Ross and Tazz promote the debut episode of WWE Superstars this Thursday. The music of the new Mr. Money in the Bank and United States Champion, Montel Vontavious Porter, then hits. Montel Vontavious Porter requests a microphone prior to his match, and talks about how at WrestleMania 25 he won the biggest match of his career, and that now he has a World Championship shot at any time in the forthcoming year. MVP tells everyone that he will pick his time wisely, but also that he isn’t a coward like the others who cashed in at opportune moments, and wants to be remembered for winning the world title fair and square. He is interrupted by Shelton Benjamin, who makes his way to the ring for the match. Montel Vontavious Porter Defeated Shelton BenjaminAn incredible match here, it’s quickly become clear that WWE are focusing a lot more on the in ring wrestling part of their shows. These two really went at it, throwing every move in their arsenal at their opponent. MVP was clearly still on a high after winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, and so he did a lot of one upping over Shelton. During the middle of the match there was a mad rush in which both men attempted to connect with their signature moves, only for the other to counter it. The ending stretch was even more exciting with a number of near falls leading to Benjamin attempting a top rope crossbody, only for MVP to avoid the move by dropping to the ground. MVP followed up by connecting with the Drive-By Kick for the win. Following the match Montel Vontavious Porter grabs his Money in the Bank Briefcase and the United States Championship and makes his way up the ramp with a grin, getting a massive pop when he raises both briefcase and title. SmackDown then cuts to a commercial. Returning from commercial Jim Ross and Tazz talk about how at WrestleMania 25 Jeff Hardy picked up some severe injurys, while still graphics are shown of the match. Jim Ross explains that Jeff has been looked over by a Doctor, and that he is not currently cleared to return to the ring. Tazz promises that when Jeff Hardy’s status is updated, then everyone will be made aware of it. Matt Hardy’s music then hits, getting the biggest heat of the night. Matt Hardy Defeated Mr. KennedyIf you’d have said this time two months ago that this would main event an episode of SmackDown you’d have been called a liar, but this was certainly a great match. Hardy was getting a lot of heat throughout the match, and he has to be considered a premier heel right now if solely because of the crowd reactions he’s getting. Kennedy on the other hand is finally being treated as a main event face after his superb performance at WrestleMania. These two really went at it, mixing up some fun brawling with some impressive technical wrestling. Either man could have got the win, but in the end Hardy countered a Mic Check and connected rolled Kennedy up, using the ring ropes for leverage to get the three count. Following the match Matt Hardy quickly exits the ring before Mr. Kennedy can get to his feet. Matt Hardy backs up the ramp grinning while Kennedy looks on angrily in the ring. SmackDown then goes off the air.

Solid opening to the show, nice to see Matt Hardy and Mr. Kennedy being the big focus this week. Opening match was pretty fun, although I am sure there are a few bigger named cruiserweights on the roster instead of Funaki. The tension between Hawkins and Ryder has been fun. McCool over Maria makes sense, hope she doesn't win back the Diva's title though. When did you make Bischoff the Smackdown General Manager? Colon's retaining the tag titles was the right move, especially since Ryder turned heel, or just turned on his partner, either way, expecting short haired awesome Ryder. MVP defeating Shelton Benjamin is fun and that match never gets old. Here's hoping the diary lasts so MVP can cash in that Money in the Bank of his. Main event was real solid, the finish made sense, I can see you pushing Matt Hardy to the main title scene.

Smackdown was a pretty good show, Rated R. The opening segment was great. Matt Hardy and Kennedy sounds interesing. Nothing special about the cruiserweight title match. Realistic choice to have Brian Kendrick pick up the win. Keep the title on him for as long as possible. I was surprise McCool/Maria was that good. Glad McCool picked up the win. The WWE Tag Team Championship match was great. I liked how Ryder/Hawkins kept Primo in the ring with frequently tagging. That's how most tag team matches go, so it was realistic. Primo/Carlito winning is good. I would love to see a feud between those two teams. MVP/Benjamin was the MOTN, imo. Just all around great wrestling. The false finishes made the match exciting, and the finish was great. Hardy/Kennedy was ok, but I'm just not a fan of Kennedy. I really liked the finish, though, and I'm happy with Hardy winning. I wonder what you do with the two. Overall, a great show. I'll be reading this more often.

- World Wrestling Entertainment are rumoured to have signed Chris Mordetzky, better known as Chris Masters, to a written deal. Masters has been wrestling around the world since his release from World Wrestling Entertainment back in November 2007. Masters recently stated that he was in talks with the WWE about a return, but that any return was pending a steroid test, as this was the reason for his release in the first place. We will update you with more on the story as it is known. - Dont expect to see The Undertaker or Jeff Hardy any time soon. The Undertaker will be taking time off to heal some nagging injuries and is not expected to return until June or July. Jeff Hardy will be taking a month off to sell the injuries he ‘received’ working his match at WrestleMania 25. - With the WWE draft taking place this week on RAW there is still no news on who will be changing brands, although it is expected for a lot of big names to change, and for some of the younger stars to move brands in preparation for big pushes. The changes made through the draft will be implemented immediately, as announced on WWE.COM. - Jimmy Wang Yang’s superstar page was quietly moved across from the RAW superstars page to SmackDown’s superstar page during the week, so unless he moves during the draft it looks like Yang will be kept on SmackDown to assist the newly resurrected Cruiserweight division.

Liked the opening segment with Matt and Kennedy. An okay opening match to get Kendrick over as champion. Liked the little backstage segment with Hawkins and Ryder. Glad McCool went over Maria. The segment with Edge and Bischoff was great. Colons going over Hawkins and Ryder is fine. Ryder turning on Hawkins is interesting. Hope you gave him a somewhat decent push. MVP/Benjamin was good, liked how MVP told the fans before the match he'll wait for the right time to cash in his MITB case. Nice main event between Hardy and Kennedy, even though I don't think that would have been a main event in real WWE.
Good show overall man.

Solid opening promo to kick off WWE SmackDown, with a promo by Matt Hardy. Ah, nice to see Mr Kennedy becoming involved, should be a decent main event tonight. Decent WWE Cruiserweight Championship by The Brian Kendrick against Kung Fu Naki. Nothing too special though. A split with Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins would be good, but it wouldn't be realistic if they met in the ring at Backlash. Michelle McCool beating Maria is fine, nothing good. Solid WWE Tag Team Championships defense by Primo and Carlito, and Ryder turning on Hawkins is nice. Hopefully both will end up with equal momentum after a feud. Amazing match between Montel Vontavious Porter and Shelton Benjamin, MVP pinning for the win was the best decision. Solid main event, wondering where the WWE Champion, Edge is, though.

I have been keeping my eye on this diary as well as few others and so far so good. I like the Cruiserweight belt being bought back and put on Kendrick. I like the Edge/Bischoff confrontation, and hopefully these stars that are being brought over from RAW in the draft will be good as it seems right now, your Smackdown is lacking star power. Ryder going on his own is good, I hope he can do something on his own though rather than just be another jobber. I really like MVP winning MITB at Wrestlemania and like someone else said I hope we see him cash in the briefcase. Kennedy/Hardy as a Smackdown main event is strange but if it builds them both up then it will be good. Overall nice work, the draft should be good.

Solid opening contest to start the action well on Smackdown! I like the Ryder and Hawkins segment. McCool winning was good as she is the better talent. Nice little Edge/Eric segment. Carlito and Primo winning was obvious because of the tension between Hawkins and Ryder. Ryder attacking Hawkins was gold. I like the MVP promo and hit match against Shelton was great. Good main event that showcases to rising stars. I was surprised to see Hardy win, but that isn’t a poor decision.

13th April 2009A special RAW opening video airs, showing superstars from all three brands. This was followed by a pyrotechnics display, and tonight’s special one night only announce team – Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler – promote that tonight the landscape of the WWE will once again change through the draft, and that all changes will be implemented immediately. The music of World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton hits and Orton makes his way to the ring. Orton talks about how at Backlash he has to defend his championship against Chris Jericho, a man who doesn’t even deserve to step into the ring with him. Orton is about to continue when he is interrupted by the music of ECW Champion Christian. Christian tells Orton to shut his mouth, because nobody here wants to hear him speak, they just want to see his ass get kicked. Christian goes on to say that in tonight’s main event it will be Randy Orton vs. Christian for two draft picks, and that he intends to bring two new stars to ECW. Christian’s music hits as he walks backstage, leaving Orton furious in the ring as RAW cuts to commercial. Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Charlie HaasThe opening match of tonight’s three hour draft special pits the United States Champion against one of ECW’s fastest rising stars. These two put on a superb technical match, which featured a lot of counter wrestling throughout. The crowd were clearly behind MVP but the match itself could have gone either way, and there were numerous times when either man could have got the win. In the end Haas managed to kick out of the Drive-By kick, only to be put away with the Playmaker, giving SmackDown the first pick of the night. Winner: Montel Vontavious PorterFollowing the match MVP is handed his United States Championship and the Money in the Bank Briefcase as the WWE Draft randomizer appears on the screen, after several seconds stopping on SmackDown’s first draft pick. The Intercontinental Champion CM Punk steps onto the ramp, raising the Intercontinental title and receiving a good amount of heat in the process. CM Punk is heading to Smackdown, and he is taking the Intercontinental Championship with him. RAW then cuts to a commercial. Kane vs. Mark Henry W/ Tony AtlasA decent match between two of the biggest strongmen men in WWE right now. This was all about the power game, there was nothing technical about this match. The crowd were dead for the early portion of this match, but surprisingly as the match went on the crowd started getting behind Henry. The match could have gone either way but as Kane attempted the chokeslam Henry powered out of it, and soon delivered the World’s Strongest Slam for the win. Winner: Mark HenryTony Atlas enters the ring and raises Mark Henry’s arm in victory, before the WWE Draft randomizer appears on the screen to pick ECW’s first draft pick. RAW cuts backstage where SmackDown’s newest star CM Punk is standing alongside Josh Matthews. Matthews asks him about his move to SmackDown, and Punk talks about how it will feel good to get away from all the disgusting fans of RAW. Punk states that once he gets to SmackDown, he intends to not only hold on to the Intercontinental Championship, but that he also intends to become the World Champion once again. RAW then cuts to a commercial break. Ted DiBiase vs. R-TruthA great match between these two as RAW attempted to get their first draft pick of the night. The crowd were firmly behind R-Truth right from his entrance, but it was DiBiase that took early control, working away at the leg of R-Truth. Truth wasn’t going down without a fight however, and used his athletic moveset to keep DiBiase on his toes with no idea what to expect. The ending stretch saw both men connecting with some big signature moves, only for DiBiase to dodge the Axe Kick and connect with the Dream Crusher for the win. Winner: Ted DiBiaseFollowing the match DiBiase watches as the WWE Draft randomizer appears on the screen to pick RAW’s first draft pick. The Big Show walks out onto the stage and taunts the crowd, while Ted DiBiase looks on in stunned silence, with Jerry Lawler making the point that RAW is not going to be the home of a Giant. RAW then cuts backstage to where Matt Hardy is preparing for his match later tonight. Mr. Kennedy walks up to him, and congratulates him on beating him on SmackDown, even if he had to cheat to do it. Matt tells Kennedy that he can beat him any night, to which Kennedy challenges him to a rematch at Backlash. Matt, feeling cocky, quickly accepts the challenge. Kennedy walks off laughing as Matt realises what he has just done. RAW then cuts to a commercial. Mike Knox vs. FinlayA solid match, although it was never going to be anything more than a fight. Knox was a monster here, and there were times that he could have knocked Finlay out if Finlay hadn’t managed to avoid Knox’s boot. The match was a lot more back and forth in the latter half, a stark contrast to the Knox dominated first half of the match. The crowd were firmly behind Finlay, and that support seemed to spur him on as he dodged another big boot attempt, and connected with the Celtic Cross for the win, giving ECW another draft pick. Winner: FinlayFollowing the match the WWE Draft randomizer appears on the screen to pick ECW’s next draft pick, as Finlay celebrates the win with Hornswoggle. RAW cuts backstage where the WWE Champion Edge is standing by with Eve. Eve starts to ask Edge a question but Edge just takes the microphone off of her and talks directly into the camera. Edge talks about how on SmackDown four men will fight for the right to challenge him for his WWE title. Edge goes on to say that nobody on RAW is worthy of getting near him or his title but that if he has to prove that, he will by beating them at Backlash. John Cena vs. Matt HardyThis was easily the match of the night so far and saw one of the fastest rising heels right now in Matt Hardy face off against one of the top faces on RAW. Matt actually took control early on after attacking Cena on his way to the ring, and connecting with a drop toe hold into the steel steps. Hardy focused on Cena’s arm with the intention of disabling the Attitude Adjustment and STF. Cena wasn’t having any of it though, and made a comeback following a chain of high impact moves, topped off with the shoulder block which did as much damage to Cena thanks to his worked on arm. The two went back and forth and while it looked like Matt was going to pick up the win when he set up the Twist of Fate, Cena countered and connected with the Attitude Adjustment for the win. Winner: John CenaFollowing the match John Cena celebrates winning RAW another draft pick while Matt slowly gets to his knees. The WWE Draft randomizer then appears on the screen to pick RAW’s next draft pick Matt Hardy looks on in shock at the fact that his loss has brought him to RAW. John Cena cant stop laughing as both men remain in the ring. RAW then cuts to commercial. Returning from commercial a video package starts to air showing ‘Killer Kris Logan, ‘Dangerous’ Dylan Klein and ‘Wicked’ Wesley Holliday getting into a limo. Wesley Holliday tells the driver that they are heading to the airport to catch a flight to Britian, the sight of next week’s Monday Night RAW. A graphic then states that ‘The Hollywood Blondes Debut Next Week on RAW’. Fifteen Man Battle Royal for Two Draft Picks(RAW represented by Big Show, Dolph Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Harry Smith and Rey Mysterio. SmackDown represented by Cryme Time, R-Truth, Shelton Benjamin and The Brian Kendrick. ECW represented by Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, Ricky Ortiz, Tommy Dreamer and Tyson Kidd)This was an absolutely crazy match to begin with, with all fifteen men going at it. The first two eliminations came early on, as Big Show clotheslined both members of Cryme Time out of the ring. Ricky Ortiz followed soon after, getting thrown out by R-Truth. There was an entertaining alliance between Harry Smith & Tyson Kidd, and Jim Ross referenced the Hart Foundation. Ziggler was the first RAW star out, being eliminated by Jack Swagger, who soon eliminated Cody Rhodes as well. Big Show was dominant, eliminating The Brian Kendrick, Tyson Kidd and Evan Bourne before everyone ganged up to eliminate Show. The six remaining men went all out, with Rey Mysterio hitting the Hurricanrana on Tommy Dreamer, sending him over the top rope. However, Mysterio had his back turned to Swagger, who came from behind and threw him over the top rope to eliminate him. R-Truth charged at Swagger, who ducked and sent him over the top rope. R-Truth hung on to the rope and got back into the ring, only to be dropkicked over the top rope by Harry Smith. Shelton Benjamin soon eliminated Harry Smith, leaving just Benjamin and Swagger. The two really went at it, and there were several near eliminations, but eventually Benjamin managed to connect with the Paydirt before throwing Swagger out of the ring to give SmackDown the win. Winner: Shelton Benjamin Survived for SmackDownFollowing the match Shelton Benjamin celebrates his victory, which has given SmackDown two draft picks. The WWE Draft randomizer then appears on the screen to pick the first of two draft picks for SmackDown. Jack Swagger looks on in shock from the rampway, with Jerry Lawler stating that the former ECW Champion will certainly make an impact on SmackDown. The WWE Draft randomizer starts up again to pick SmackDown’s second new superstar. RAW cuts backstage to where Chris Jericho is watching the monitor in shock that he has been drafted to SmackDown, just weeks before he challenges for RAW’s World Heavyweight Championship. The World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton walks up to Jericho, taunting him about how he’ll now never have to see his face on RAW again. Jericho tells Orton that while he will be heading to SmackDown, he’ll be taking the World Heavyweight Championship with him. Jericho walks off as RAW cuts to commercial. Paul Burchill W/ Katie Lea vs. William RegalA good match between two men who used to team together and have very similar roughneck styles. Burchill is in the middle of a big push right now but this match certainly wasn’t easy for him as Regal really took the fight to Burchill with some stiff offence right from the start, refusing to let up until Burchill delivered a brutal elbow of his own. From there the match was very back and forth, with both men getting in a fair share of offence. Regal almost got the win following a running knee, but Katie Lea lifted Burchill’s foot onto the bottom rope, breaking up the pin. Regal then exited the right, chasing Katie Lea. Katie Lea rolled into the ring, followed by Regal who was met with a big clothesline from Burchill. Burchill followed up with the Twisted Sister, and got the pinfall for the win. Winner: Paul BurchillPaul Burchill and Katie Lea celebrate the victory as Jim Ross plugs that Paul Burchill has brought another draft pick to ECW. The WWE Draft Randomizer once again appears on the screen to pick ECW’s newest superstar. Vladamir Kozlov makes his way out onto the stage and starts shouting random things in Russian. Jim Ross states that Vladamir Kozlov is coming to ECW, and that the entire ECW roster has been put on notice. Kofi Kingston vs. EdgeThis match saw the WWE Champion go one on one with one of the fastest rising stars on RAW. These two really put on a superb match and there was never a dull moment throughout the match. Edge targeted Kingston’s knee throughout the match in an attempt to keep him grounded and to eliminate Kingston’s speed and agility advantage. This worked for a good part of the match, with Edge in firm control, but eventually Kingston got a second wind, partially thanks to the support of the crowd, and really took the fight to Edge, who was caught off guard by Kingston who connected with the Trouble in Paradise out on nowhere, nearly getting the win. Edge was on the defensive for a while, before the match became very back and forth with both men getting a lot of near falls. Kingston almost connected with a second Trouble in Paradise, but Edge managed to duck, and quickly connected with the Spear for the win. Winner: EdgeFollowing the match Edge grabs his WWE Championship and celebrates in the ring, while Kingston rolls out of the ring. The WWE Draft Randomzier appears on the screen to pick another draft pick for SmackDown. “Sexy Boy” hits as SmackDown’s newest star Shawn Michaels walks out and poses on the ramp. Edge looks on from the ring, obviously not pleased with Shawn Michaels arrival on the blue brand. RAW then cuts backstage. RAW cuts backstage to John Morrison and The Miz backstage, arguing about their recent series of losses, with both trying to place the blame on the other. Morrison tells Miz that if they are both left on ECW then things are going to change, because he doesn’t intend to be stuck with a loser as a partner. Morrison walks off for their match with Miz watching on angrily before heading to the ring himself. RAW then cuts to commercial. The Colons vs. John Morrison & The MizThe penultimate match of the night may not have been as big as some of the preceding matches, but it was certainly entertaining. Morrison and Miz really stole the match with their entertaining arguments throughout the match. The Colons had a lot of the offence during this match thanks to the miscommunication between the Miz and John Morrison, although when Morrison and Miz got onto the same page midway through the match they really started taking control. Morrison once again stole the match performance wise, utilizing his unique offence, hitting some of his signaute moves out of nowhere. The ending stretch saw Miz completely controlling Primo in the ring when Morrison just entered the ring and out of nowhere kicked Miz in the ribs before connecting with the Moonlight Drive on Miz, getting a huge pop from the crowd. Primo made the pin, giving SmackDown the win. Winner: The ColonsFollowing the match Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler discuss John Morrison turning on the Miz. Morrison grins on the ramp, getting a lot of cheers from the crowd, before the WWE Draft Randomizer appears on the screen to pick another draft pick for SmackDown. John Morrison is shown still standing on the ramp, now with an even bigger grin at the news that he is heading to SmackDown. Morrison poses on the ramp, getting a decent pop from the crowd as RAW cuts to commercial. RAW returns from commercial showing a promotional video for the brand new WWE Superstars show, which broadcasts for the first time this Thursday, featuring superstars from all three brands. Two Draft Picks On The Line Randy Orton vs. ChristianNow this was a huge main event, as the World Heavyweight Champion went one on one with the ECW Champion, both of whom won their respective titles at WrestleMania 25. It was clear that this match could have gone either way from the very start; with both men getting in a lot of back and forth action right from the get go. The entire live crowd were firmly behind Christian, even though it was clear that he was the underdog going into this match, although you wouldn’t have thought it from the amount of solid offence he got in, taking Orton right to the wire more than once. It was clear that Randy Orton was coming into this match thinking Christian would be a pushover, but he quickly changed tactics when he was floored by a right hand, utilizing his usual tactic of working down Christian by any means possible before moving in for the kill, which Orton attempted more than once, but every time Orton went for the RKO Christian would find some way to counter the move, at one point rolling Randy Orton up for a very close near fall. With both men getting desperate the bigger moves started to get pulled out, with several near falls towards the end of the match. In the end Christian went for the Killswitch, which Orton managed to counter and connect with the RKO to get the pinfall. Winner: Randy OrtonFollowing the match Randy Orton celebrates the win as Jerry Lawler shouts like crazy that Orton has brought two new superstars to RAW. The WWE draft randomizer hit for the first of the two new RAW draft picks. Mr. Kennedy’s music hits as the man who challenged for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 25 makes his way out onto the ramp, and announces that “Mr. Kennedy... Kennedy, is coming to RAW” before grinning at Randy Orton, signalling that he wants the World Heavyweight Championship. The WWE Draft Randomizer hits again to pick the second of RAW’s newest superstars. Triple H makes his way out onto the stage while Jerry Lawler talks about how WWE has not just picked up Mr. Kennedy, but one of the biggest stars in sports entertainment in Triple H. Triple H poses on the stage as Randy Orton looks on in shock, realizing that he has brought not just one, but two massive threats to his World Heavyweight Championship to RAW. RAW goes off the air with Jim Ross plugging the WWE supplementary draft this Wednesday on WWE.COM, and the debut of WWE Superstars on Thursday.

I don't really like how most of the draft picks were the same as they were in real life other than Swagger and Michaels going to SmackDown.

14th April 2009The ECW opening video airs, and is followed by a recap of the three hour draft special last night. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker welcome us to the show, running down the new superstars who were drafted to ECW, and plugging that many more will change brands tomorrow night during the Supplementary draft on WWE.COM. ‘Just Close your Eyes’ hits and the ECW Champion Christian makes his way down to the ring to kick off this week’s ECW on Sci-Fi. Christian enters the ring, and begins talking about how with all the new superstars coming to ECW, this is truly a new era for the brand, and that the head of this new era is none other than the ECW Champion, Captain Charisma himself. Christian goes on to talk about how he is a fighting champion, and will willingly defend his title against all comers. At that moment the music of ECW’s newest star, Vladamir Kozlov, hits. Kozlov talks some gibberish in Russian, before shouting out that he wants a title match at Backlash. Christian thinks it over, before saying that he would love to be the first person on ECW to teach Kozlov some respect, and so accepts the match. ECW on Sci-Fi goes to commercial with Matt Striker shouting that at Backlash it will be Christian vs. Vladamir Kozlov for the ECW Championship. Hurricane Helms vs. Ricky OrtizThis was a decent opening match for this week’s ECW on Sci-Fi, featuring one of the superstars who came to ECW in the WWE draft – Hurricane Helms. Helms was working the face role here, with Ortiz working the comedy heel, although nobody really took him seriously. The match was pretty back and forth, with Helms using his speed to take control towards the end, and eventually put Ortiz away with the Eye of the Hurricane to get the pinfall. Winner: Hurricane HelmsHurricane Helms celebrates his massive victory while Ricky Ortiz is still laid out in the ring. Helms gets a pretty good reaction from the crowd as ECW cuts away. ECW cuts backstage, where Vladamir Kozlov is preparing for his upcoming tag team match when his partner for the night, The Miz, walks up to him, looking a little worried about talking to Kozlov. Miz asks Kozlov if he is ready for the match, to which Kozlov replies in Russian before heading towards the ring. Miz looks on confused before saying “Okay then” and heading off after Kozlov. ECW then cuts to a commercial break. Christian & Tommy Dreamer vs. Vladamir Kozlov & The MizECW on Sci-Fi was home to some big tag team action tonight, with four of the main stars of the brand all faced off. Todd Grisham talked about the events earlier in the night between Christian and Kozlov, as well as how the Miz is now going solo after the events of the three hour draft special of RAW. Christian really went after Kozlov for the opening part of the match, but Kozlov completely outmatched him with his sambo based move set, connecting with suplexes at numerous times. The Miz looked fairly impressive, and got a fair amount of heel heat, but it was Tommy Dreamer that stole the show with a superb performance. The match could have gone either way, and towards the end both teams had their chances to pick up the win, but in the end Kozlov managed to connect with the Iron Curtain on Christian to get the pinfall. Winners: Vladamir Kozlov & The MizVladamir Kozlov and The Miz celebrate their win as Tommy Dreamer checks on Christian. Kozlov delivers a brutal kick to the skull of Dreamer, and follows it up with another Iron Curtain to the ECW Original. ECW cuts to commercial as Kozlov and The Miz stand over the bodies of the ECW Champion Christian and Tommy Dreamer. ECW returned from commercial to the backstage area where Paul Burchill is heading towards the ring on his own. ECW’s newest interviewer, Angela Fong, attempted to get an interview with him on his upcoming Extreme Rules Match with Finlay. Burchill looked at her, told her that actions speak louder than words, and walked off, leaving Angela Fong confused. ECW then fades to a promo. A promotional video promoting the debut episode of WWE Superstars airs, stating that the show will feature superstars from all three brands, and airs for the first time this Thursday. Extreme Rules Match Paul Burchill vs. FinlayThere was a lot of doubt over whether these two could put on a true Extreme Rules match, but they proved all the doubters wrong because this match was as brutal as they come. Burchill and Finlay really took the fight to each other with everything they could get their hands on, with steel chairs, kendo sticks and even a fans crutch being used during the match. The match was given a good amount of time and was very back and forth, with both men getting in their fare share of the offense. Burchill was unrelenting throughout this match, refusing to give up no matter what Finlay did, and when Hornswoggle attempted to get involved Burchill almost kicked his head clean off in one of the biggest heat drawing moments of the night. That was the moment that Finlay really let loose, becoming less interested in winning the match and more interested in causing damage to Burchill. The clear turning point of the match was when Burchill and Finlay fought on the outside. Finlay cleared the announce desk and was preparing to send Burchill through the announcers desk when Burchill began fighting back, and connected with the Twisted Sister, sending both men through the Announcers table. Burchill managed to drag Finlay into the ring, where he connected with another Twisted Sister and followed it up with the pinfall for the win. Winner: Paul BurchillFollowing the match Katie Lea rushed to the ring to help Paul Burchill get to his feet, while medical staff ran to the ring to check on both men. Burchill celebrated the big victory, briefly looking at Finlay who was laid out covered in his own blood, with medical staff checking on him. ECW on Sci-Fi comes to an end on the shot of Paul Burchill and Katie Lea celebrating in the ring and Finlay being helped out of the ring.

Christian versus Vladimir Kozlov should be a solid ECW Championship contest at Backlash. I enjoy Hurricane Helms getting a decent victory over Ricky Ortiz. I love the interaction between The Miz and Kozlov. The tag match seemed pretty good and I love that the Miz and Vladimir Kozlov won the contest. The main event was very intense and I loved it! I am pleased to see Paul Burchill secure the victory.

RAW -Christian/Orton main event sounds great -MVP/Haas is a match I'd love to see, glad MVP won though and Punk to Smackdown is splendid -Kane/Henry isn't great, but solid. Surprised to see Henry win and Helms isn't too good of a pick, but it's solid -I like Punk saying he was going to take the World Title as well as keep his IC Title -Thank god Dibiase won and Show is a decent pick -Not sure what the problem was with Matt accepting Kennedy's challenge exactly -Finlay/Knox is not good at all, and ECW is getting robbed with these picks -Cena over Matt was the right call, glad he looked good in the match though. Matt going over to Raw is great, hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle there -Hollywood Blondes is not a name I'd use for a new team, feels like a ripoff of Pillman/Austin -Wow, tremendous to see Benjamin survive the battle royal and get SD two fantastic picks. Swagger, Jerico & Punk make SD loaded -Figured Kozlov would go to ECW -Edge/Kofi is great, also glad Kofi got to put on a good performance. HBK to SD!!! That's incredible, SD is looking spectacular -Mizorrison breaking up is needed as Morrison needs to become a star. Another excellent pick for SD -Love that Orton won and brought over two big threats to his title, great ending
ECW -Christian/Kozlov at Backlash is ok -Helms getting a rather easy win in his first ECW match is good -The tag match should've main evented the show. Made sense for Kozlov to pin Christian -The Extreme Rules match was good, figured Burchill would win as he's getting the push and I'm glad he did
ECW was decent, but Raw was loaded. The only thing I didn't like was how ECW got raped in the draft, but of course that allows for some FCW talent to get called up. SD is looking awesome, can't wait to read those future shows.

WWE.COM Presents the World Wrestling Entertainment Supplemental Draft 2009RAW Drafts Ricky OrtizECW’s resident motivational speaker is now the newest member of the RAW roster, meaning he now has an entirely new roster to motivate. But will the superstars of RAW be willing to ‘Rally Up’, or will Ortiz’s motivation go unheeded? Whatever the case, Ortiz is sure to make a big splash on RAW. SmackDown Drafts Chavo GuerreroChavo Guerrero’s return to SmackDown can only mean trouble for the superstars of the Cruiserweight division, as Chavo is a multi-time Cruiserweight champion and sure to be looking to add to his tally. The Mexican Warrior is sure to be looking forward to showing his stuff on the high flying blue brand. RAW Drafts R-TruthR-Truth has proven himself a firm fan favourite over on SmackDown, and is sure to make waves on Monday Nights. His energetic personality, mixed with his fast paced and unpredictable offence is going to make him a threat to any superstar, and it won’t be long until R-Truth is mixing it up at the very top of the Intercontinental title division. ECW Drafts Candice MichelleCandice Michelle is a former Women’s champion on RAW, and while ECW may not have an expansive Women’s division Candice Michelle is not just going to stand around in the background. With Candice Michelle now gracing Tuesday Night’s it isn’t a question of whether she’ll be a success, but whether she’ll do it on her own or whether she’ll use her assets to assist one of ECW’s superstars. RAW Drafts Nikki BellaWhile it’s a sad day whenever a team is broken up its an even sadder day when twins have to say goodbye to each other, but that’s the case with the Bella Twins, as they now find themselves on separate brands for the first time since their debut in World Wrestling Entertainment. While this may seem like a bad thing it also means that both of the Bella Twins will now have to prove themselves as capable singles wrestlers. SmackDown Drafts Katie LeaSmackDown’s Diva’s division has been impressive ever since its inception last year and now that Katie Lea is joining Friday Night’s things can only get hotter. She may not have the support of long time acquaintance Paul Burchill by her side anymore, but that doesn’t make us any less doubtful that Katie Lea will see a great deal of success mixing it up with the Diva’s of SmackDown. RAW Drafts Zack RyderThe man who has been called the fastest rising star on SmackDown has recently broken away from his long time tag team partner Curt Hawkins and gone off on his own in an impressive way. On RAW Zack Ryder will no longer have to live in the shadow of former stablemate Edge or comparisons to his former tag team partner, and can now focus on the most important goal to Ryder since coming to World Wrestling Entertainment – singles championship gold. SmackDown Drafts Beth PhoenixOne of RAW’s most dominant Diva’s is making her way to SmackDown. Ever since debuting in World Wrestling Entertainment Beth Phoenix has left a line of fallen Diva’s behind her on the RAW brand and now she has a whole new roster’s worth of Diva’s to destroy. One thing is for certain though, the Diva’s Champion Maryse had better watch her back if she wants to keep the gold around her waist. ECW Drafts Shad GaspardThe WWE Draft Randomizer doesn’t take friendships and tag teams into account when it chooses a superstar, which is certainly bad news for Cryme Time. Now that Shad Gaspard is ECW’s newest superstar both Shad and his now former tag team partner JTG will have to strike out on their own if they want to succeed. But having seen Shad in action, and just looking at his intimidating physique nobody can doubt that Shad Gaspard has all the attributes to become a feature star on the ECW brand. RAW Drafts Paul BurchillPaul Burchill has been making waves on the ECW brand for the past few months proving himself to be a hot property in World Wrestling Entertainment. Without Katie Lea by his side Burchill has nobody to keep him from going to extremes when he steps in the ring, which can only mean bad news for the entire RAW roster. In the past months Burchill has proven he can hold his own against the best that ECW has to offer, with victory’s over veterans Tommy Dreamer and Finlay, and now he has a whole new talent pool to demonstrate his skill. Burchill will certainly make a big impact in the Intercontinental Championship division. ECW Drafts Dolph ZigglerDolph Ziggler has certainly made his name known to everyone on the RAW roster, to some of them more than once. But no matter what you think of him there is no doubting that Ziggler should not be underestimated because beneath all the smug narcissism lies a man with all the talent and charisma to make his way to the top in World Wrestling Entertainment. On ECW Dolph Ziggler will have a whole roster of new superstars to introduce himself to, as well as a whole new roster to defeat in the ring. SmackDown Drafts Jamie NobleJamie Noble has made a name for himself as one of the most daring unrelenting superstars in World Wrestling Entertainment, and his presence on SmackDown can only mean bad things for the entire Cruiserweight division. Noble is a man who knows how to get the job done and he’s had success in the Cruiserweight division during his prior stints on the blue brand so it isn’t a stretch to think that he’ll be coming for The Brian Kendrick’s gold very soon. RAW Drafts Michelle McCoolMichelle McCool has established herself as one of the premier Diva’s in World Wrestling Entertainment, having stood at the top of SmackDown’s Diva division throughout her time on the blue brand. Now that Michelle McCool is a member of the RAW roster she will have to prove herself once again against a whole new brand’s worth of Divas. Can Michelle McCool become the first women to hold both the Women’s Championship and the Diva’s Championship? ECW Drafts Santino MarellaWhile Santino Marella may be known for his entertaining and comedic personality he is also no stranger to success, having held the Intercontinental Championship on two separate occasions. While he may now be separated from Beth Phoenix Santino has proven that he can pull himself back from any setback with his usual wit. The ECW roster is unlikely to welcome Santino Marella smiling and laughing, but if Santino Marella gets his way, he’ll be the only one laughing, possibly with ECW Championship gold around his waist. SmackDown Drafts Evan BourneOne of the most exciting high flying stars in World Wrestling Entertainment is now on his way to SmackDown. Ever since he debuted in the land of the extreme Evan Bourne has impressed everyone with his daredevil attitude, with many calling him one to watch throughout 2009, with Bourne it isn’t a question of whether he’ll be a success, it’s just how long until he achieves that success. Whether it be the Intercontinental Championship or the Cruiserweight Championship there is no doubt that Evan Bourne will be looking to get a taste of some WWE gold during his time on SmackDown. ECW Drafts Curt HawkinsCurt Hawkins, like his former partner Zack Ryder, has long been seen as an impressive tag team talent. Having already held tag team championship gold during his time on SmackDown Hawkins will now have his sights set on a bigger prize, the ECW Championship. There is no doubt that Hawkins has learned from one of the best in the form of current WWE Champion Edge, so to underestimate him would certainly be a mistake, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him headlining shows in the coming months. SmackDown Drafts Rey MysterioSmackDown’s final draft pick in the 2009 WWE draft is none other than the high flying Rey Mysterio. A former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio has held his own against the very best in World Wrestling Entertainment and while he may not be the biggest or the strongest, he has more heart than anyone else on the SmackDown roster. The biggest problem for the rest of the SmackDown roster is that Rey Mysterio is a threat to every single champion, having held world and tag titles, as well as being one of the greatest Cruiserweight Champions in company history. It can only be a matter of time before Rey Mysterio is holding championship gold once again. RAW Drafts Montel Vontavious PorterRAW’s final pick of the 2009 WWE Draft could very well be the biggest steal of the entire draft, because not only is Montel Vontavious Porter the current United States Champion but he is also the current holder of the Money in the Bank Briefcase which guarantees him a World Championship match at any time up to WrestleMania 26. Montel Vontavious Porter has proven himself to be the fastest rising star in World Wrestling Entertainment, and now that he is a member of the RAW roster he has a whole new landscape on which to prove himself as the MVP of the WWE.

Supplemental Draft -
I really love MVP getting drafter to Raw and Zack Ryder moving to Raw is also great. Santino should be a good fit for ECW. Shad Gaspard could be a dominate heel in ECW. Smackdown getting Rey and Bourne was smart and can change up the landscape their.

16th April 2009The Superstars opening video airs, showing superstars from all three brands, with the music 'Invincible' by Adelitas Way. This is followed by Jim Ross welcoming us to the first ever edition of WWE Superstars, before all three announce teams run down their brands respective matches, with the headlining match being a fatal four way match to determine who will challenge for the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash. The music of Matt Hardy hits as one of RAW’s newest superstars makes his way to the ring. Matt Hardy talks about how he never got any respect on SmackDown until he turned on his own brother and proved himself to be the better Hardy, which got a lot of heat. Matt goes on to say that things on RAW are going to be different, because he’s going to kick things off the way he intends to continue, by defeating Mr. Kennedy at Backlash. Matt goes on to say that he won’t only beat Mr. Kennedy, but that he will embarrass him and prove to everyone exactly why he is the best damn thing ever to come to RAW. WWE Superstars then cuts to commercial. Montel Vontavious Porter vs. Zack RyderNow this was the perfect match to kick off the debut episode of WWE Superstars, with two rising stars going one on one. Zack Ryder was sporting new entrance music as well as a new attire that had a resemblance to Edge’s design. Ryder took control early on by targeting the knee of MVP, who really wasn’t expecting this kind of meticulous offense from Ryder. MVP managed to fight back and the tide of the match really turned following a top rope crossbody from Porter that left Ryder stunned. The rest of the match was fairly back and forth, with both men getting a number of near falls. In the end Porter went for the Playmaker only for Ryder to counter the move with a rollup and with the use of a handful of tights got the three count. Winner: Zack RyderZack Ryder quickly exits the ring as Montel Vontavious Porter realizes what just happened. Porter attempts to tell the referee about Ryder grabbing his tights during the rollup, but the referee doesn’t listen to him. Ryder makes his way up the ramp, getting some good heel heat and signaling that he is coming after Montel Vontavious Porter’s United States Championship. Superstars cuts backstage where Dolph Ziggler is shown attempting to flirt with Candice Michelle. Candice is enjoying the attention, but tells Ziggler that if he wants her, he’ll have to impress her in the ring. Ziggler tells her to keep an eye on the monitors, because he’s in action next. Candice walks off as Tyson Kidd and Natayla walk up to Ziggler. Natayla scoffs at Ziggler, telling him not to bother with Candice, and Tyson Kidd asks him if he’s ready for their tag team match next. Ziggler tells him that he’s always ready as the two head to the ring with Natayla walking behind them. WWE Superstars then cuts to commercial. WWE Superstars returns from commercial to the site of video package promoting WWE Backlash, that airs on the 26th of April. The video package focuses on the announced World Heavyweight Championship Match between Randy Orton and Chris Jericho. Dolph Ziggler & Tyson Kidd W/ Natayla vs. Hurricane Helms & Curt HawkinsThe ECW match featuring on the debut episode of WWE Superstars definitely had the least amount of star power, but it was very entertaining. The pairing of Ziggler and Kidd could be one of the more interesting parts of ECW if given the right amount of time to develop, as Kidd plays the straight serious guy perfectly to Ziggler’s arrogant heel. Curt Hawkins looked very impressive, taking part in some very entertaining exchanges with Ziggler and while Helms was pretty grounded throughout the match he did take both Ziggler & Kidd out at the same time with a suicide dive over the top rope. The match was very back and forth, with both teams coming close to winning at times, but during the ending stretch Tyson Kidd took control over Hurricane Helms, and eventually put him away for the pinfall. Winners: Dolph Ziggler & Tyson KiddDolph Ziggler and Tyson Kidd exit the ring, celebrating the match on the ramp with Natayla. Natayla stands in the middle of them as she raises both of their arms in unison. The trio pose on the ramp as WWE Superstars cuts to commercial. Returning from commercial WWE Superstars cuts to the backstage area where the Big Show is standing by with Josh Matthews. Josh asks the Big Show how he intends to make his mark on the RAW brand. Big Show firstly intimidates Matthews, before talking about how he is the biggest and strongest superstar in World Wrestling Entertainment, and that the sooner everyone realizes that RAW is his brand the less painful it will be for them. Big Show goes on to promise that this Monday Night on RAW he will show everyone how to make an impact and that it will certainly be painful for one superstar. WWE Superstars then fades to a promo. A promotional video promoting this Friday Night’s broadcast of SmackDown airs. It promotes a Four Way Elimination match between four of the new members of the SmackDown roster – Shawn Michaels, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio and Jack Swagger. It then states that the winner will challenge Edge for the WWE Championship at Backlash. Prior to the first ever WWE Superstars main event the Intercontinental Champion, CM Punk, joins Jim Ross and Tazz at the announcers table to do guest commentary for the main event, where the winner will challenge CM Punk for the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash. Winner challenges for the Intercontinental Championship at Backlash William Regal vs. Evan Bourne vs. Carlito vs. Shelton BenjaminThe first ever main event of WWE Superstars was certainly impressive, as four of the best wrestlers on SmackDown all went at it with an Intercontinental title shot on the line. The Intercontinental Champion CM Punk was at ringside, and pretty much tore into all four wrestlers involved in the match, stating that he was better than all of them and everyone else in this arena as well. During the early parts of this match any of the four could have picked up the win, and there was genuine interest in who was going to win since it wasn’t as predictable as most matches. Evan Bourne really shone here, having some fantastic exchanges with Shelton Benjamin throughout, while William Regal looked good no matter who he was going at it with. Carlito was obviously the least likely to win, since he is already one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, but he came closest to picking up the win following the Backstabber on Benjamin during the ending stretch. Carlito was only able to get a two count but as he got to his knees he was met with a big knee to the skull courtesy of William Regal. Before Regal could go for the pin Evan Bourne flew from the top turnbuckle and connected with a big hurricanrana on Regal. Bourne once again scaled the turnbuckle, before connecting with the shooting star press on Shelton Benjamin to get the pinfall and gain an Intercontinental Championship match at Backlash. Winner: Evan BourneFollowing the match Evan Bourne celebrates the massive victory, stopping when he sees CM Punk still sitting at the announce desk. Bourne points at the Intercontinental title, stating that he is coming for CM Punk and his title at Backlash. Punk gets out of his seat and starts shouting at Evan Bourne that if he wants the title then he’s going to have to pry it away from CM Punk’s iron grip. The debut episode of WWE Superstars comes to an end with Evan Bourne celebrating his big victory while CM Punk just stares at him from ringside.

- Nice Matt Hardy promo to kick off Superstars, heres hoping he gets a good push on Raw - Ryder vs Porter is an awesome way to kick off the in ring action. Someone sad to see Ryder not with the haircut, half trunks half tights design. Ryder winning gets up on the right track. - Kidd & Ziggler over Helms & Hawkins makes sense, although I hope you do something with face Hawkins, change of gimmick and what not. - The fatal four way on Smackdown will be fantastic, I know the result so won't comment on it. - Main event was real solid, Bourne winning is pretty cool and Bourne vs Punk at the ppv is bound to be fantastic.

Matt Hardy starting off Superstars with a great heel promo was tremendous. I would enjoy if he got a solid push. Zack Ryder pulling out victories is always great and a victory over MVP really helps him seem like a serious athlete. Dolph Ziggler & Tyson Kidd is an interesting duo and I like Dolph Ziggler having to impress Candice with a victory against Hurricane Helms and Curt Hawkins. Dolph Ziggler and Tyson Kidd pulling through with the victory is great. I love the Big Show’s promo as it makes him seem like a dominate force. I am pushing for Shawn Michaels or John Morrison to win the fatal four way and challenge Edge for the gold. Tremendous main event and I love that you make the Intercontinental championship seem important. Evan Bourne winning is great and I can not complain at all.

17th April 2009 Yoshi Tatsu Defeated Kung Fu NakiSmackDown’s dark match saw FCW Superstar Yoshi Tatsu pick up the win following the buzzsaw kick. The SmackDown opening video airs, followed by a recap of all the superstars drafted to SmackDown in the 2009 WWE Draft. Jim Ross and Tazz welcome us to the show, promoting that tonight’s main event will feature four of SmackDown’s newest talent in a match to determine the next challenger to Edge’s WWE Championship. ‘Metalingus’ hits as the WWE Champion Edge makes his way to the ring to a chorus of boos. Edge demands a microphone, telling everyone to shut up so he can speak. Edge begins talking about how tonight four men will compete with the winner challenging him for his title. Edge goes on to say that none of these men deserve it, at which point he is interrupted by Shawn Michaels, who makes his way to the ring. Michaels tells Edge that the only one not deserving is Edge himself and that tonight, on his first night on SmackDown, he intends to gain himself a WWE Championship match. This brings out John Morrison, who tells Michaels that his time has past and that it is now time for the next generation to lead the way, and that the next generation will be led by the Friday Night delight, John Morrison. Morrison and Michaels get in each other’s face but are interrupted by Rey Mysterio, who talks about how it feels good to be back on SmackDown, and that it will be even better to challenge for the WWE Championship at Backlash. Finally, Jack Swagger made his entrance, telling all of them that they are sorely mistaken, because the only man who will be holding the WWE Championship by the end of Backlash will be the All American Sensation, Jack Swagger. It looks like a massive brawl is about to erupt, but security act fast and separate all five men as SmackDown cuts to commercial. The Brian Kendrick, Chavo Guerrero & Kung Fu Naki vs. Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang & JTGThe opening match of this weeks SmackDown featured some of the most hectic six man Cruiserweight action ever seen on SmackDown. JTG seems to be working the Cruiserweight division since his partner, Shad, was drafted to ECW and while he was slightly bigger than his opponents he was just as agile as the rest of them. This match was full of great spots, with one of the best seeing The Brian Kendrick come flying off the top turnbuckle with a shooting star press to the outside that took out all the other men in the match. The match was very back and forth, and anyone could have picked up the win, with the ending stretch seeing all six men getting near falls and connecting with their finisher on someone, with Jamie Noble finally connecting with the Double Knee Gutbuster to Kung Fu Naki to get the win. Winners: Jamie Noble, Jimmy Wang Yang & JTGFollowing the match Jamie Noble is joined in the ring by Jimmy Wang Yang and JTG. The three men celebrate the victory as The Brian Kendrick grabs the Cruiserweight Championship and storms up the ramp. SmackDown cuts backstage to where Eric Bischoff is sitting in his office when Jack Swagger walks in. Bischoff quickly gets up and shakes Swagger’s hand, welcoming him to SmackDown. Bischoff states that he expects big things from Swagger here on Friday Night’s, to which Swagger explains that he wont have long to wait, because tonight he intends to get himself a WWE Championship match at Backlash. Bischoff tells him that if he wants to make an impact around here, he’ll have to show some ruthless aggression. Swagger tells him to just watch the monitors before walking out. SmackDown then cuts to commercial. Maryse vs. Brie BellaA decent Diva’s match as the Diva’s champion went one on one with the now sole Bella Twin on SmackDown. It was obvious that Maryse was carrying this match from the start, although Brie didn’t look as terrible as she did in her early matches. This one wasn’t long, and Maryse soon took control after a period of back and forth wrestling, eventually getting the win following the French Kiss. Winner: MaryseFollowing the match Maryse grabs her WWE Diva’s Championship and begins celebrating in the ring when Beth Phoenix’s music interrupts her. Beth Phoenix makes her way to the ring and gets in Maryse’s face. Beth is handed a microphone, and she announces that earlier today Eric Bischoff agreed to her request for a match at Backlash. Beth then announces that at Backlash it will be Maryse defending the WWE Diva’s Championship against Beth Phoenix. Maryse looks angry as Beth leaves the ring smiling. SmackDown cuts backstage where Evan Bourne is getting ready for his match later tonight. The Intercontinental Champion CM Punk, who Evan Bourne will face for the title at Backlash, walks up to Bourne with a look of contempt on his face. The two have a short stare down, before Punk sarcastically wishes Bourne good luck in his match with Shelton Benjamin later tonight. Bourne doesn’t say anything, but glances at the Intercontinental Championship. Punk looks down at the title, which is draped over his shoulder, and smirks, telling Bourne that he doesn’t have a hope before walking off. SmackDown then cuts to commercial. SmackDown returns from commercial to a video package promoting Backlash, which takes place next Sunday, live on pay per view. It focuses on Edge defending his WWE Championship against a currently unnamed contender. The Colons vs. Jesse & FestusThis was a decent tag team match, although SmackDown certainly needs some fresh blood in the tag team division. Carlito started off strong against Festus, managing to avoid his mad rush when the bell rung, and began working away at the knees of Festus. Primo did the same when tagged in, but almost had his head taken off by a massive clothesline that allowed Jesse to get tagged in. From there the match was a lot more even, with Jesse and Carlito in particular putting on some very entertaining exchanges. The match could have gone either way, with Jesse and Festus getting numerous near falls, including Carlito having to break up a pinfall towards the end of the match. The ending stretch saw Carlito and Jesse going at it in the ring when Carlito connected with a dropkick and followed up with the Backstabber. Primo pulled Festus off the apron allowing Carlito to get the pinfall for the win. Winners: The ColonsFollowing the match The Colons are handed their WWE Tag Team titles and begin to celebrate in the ring when out of nowhere they are attacked by two large Samoan men, who proceed to deliver a brutal beat down, topped off by a double samoan drop. The one man, who some people may remember as Manu from his brief stint on RAW. He states that his name is Manu and his partner is Kafu, and that they are the New Samoans. Kafu then takes the microphone, and shouts that the New Samoans are going to take the WWE Tag Team Championships, even if they have to do it from The Colons cold dead hands. SmackDown cuts to commercial on the site of the New Samoans holding up The Colons WWE Tag Team titles. SmackDown returns from commercial showing the backstage area. Where Jack Swagger is showing attempting to flirt with Katie Lea, who doesn’t seem that interested. Swagger tells Katie Lea that they never got a proper introduction over on ECW, and that she should feel proud to be graced with the next WWE Champions presence, which doesn’t seem to impress Katie Lea. William Regal walks up to the pair of them, and tells Swagger that he should push off, because a lady like Katie Lea doesn’t need to associate herself with the lowest of the low. Swagger tells Regal that he is the American Sensation, to which Regal shoots back “We’re Brits, why should we care how good of an American you are.” Swagger looks angry, but eventually walks off, leaving William Regal looking intensely and Katie Lea smirking. Evan Bourne vs. Shelton BenjaminEvan Bourne came into this match red hot following his fatal four way victory on the debut episode of Superstars, which also included his opponent for tonight, Shelton Benjamin. This match was even better than people were expecting and could very well be a match of the year candidate, with the perfect mix of exciting fast paced wrestling, adrenaline pumping spots and spectacular technical wrestling, the latter from Shelton Benjamin. The match started off with a bang with Shelton Benjamin exiting the ring when the bell rung having seen Bourne gearing up for a dropkick, only for Bourne to follow him by flying over the top rope and landing on Benjamin. What followed was a non stop fifteen minutes of action without a single dull part of the match. By the end of the match the crowd were on the edge of the seats as the two traded moves and there were numerous near falls. Benjamin did managed to connect with the paydirt, but Bourne somehow managed to kick out at the last second. Benjamin the ascended to the top rope but took too long, as Bourne managed to get to his feet and springboarded off the middle rope to deliver a dropkick to Benjamin, sending him flying to the outside. Bourne managed to roll Benjamin back into the ring, and connected with the Shooting Star Press to get the pinfall. Winner: Evan BourneFollowing the match Evan Bourne slowly gets to his feet, clearly tired after the match. His opponent at Backlash, the Intercontinental Champion CM Punk walks out onto the stage, just staring at Bourne, who points at CM Punk’s Intercontinental title. SmackDown then cuts to commercial. SmackDown returns from commercial to the sight of SmackDown’s backstage interviewer Eve standing by with Chris Jericho, who will challenge Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship next Sunday at Backlash. Eve asks Jericho about his chances against Orton, to which Jericho just stares at her. Jericho tells her who does she think she is to doubt his chances, because everybody knows that he is the one and only Chris Jericho. Jericho goes on to say that it doesn’t matter what anyone thinks because at Backlash he intends to go into that ring and defeat Randy Orton. Jericho continues, saying that in two weeks he shall walk into the arena for SmackDown as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Prior to the main event the WWE Champion Edge makes his way out to ringside, joining Jim Ross and Tazz at the announce desk to get a close up look at the main event. He tells them both that it doesn’t matter who wins, because he’ll still walk out of Backlash with the WWE title. Four Way Elimination Match – Winner Challenges for the WWE Championship at Backlash Shawn Michaels vs. John Morrison vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Jack SwaggerThe first main event following the 2009 WWE draft was certainly one of its biggest and best main events in recent months, pitting four excellent athletes against each other with a shot at the biggest prize on SmackDown up for grabs. There was still in excess of twenty minutes left for the main event, so the four superstars involved were given plenty of time to put on an excellent match. As soon as the bell rung John Morrison went straight for Shawn Michaels obviously building on their recent feud, while Jack Swagger and Rey Mysterio went at it. The match quickly got out of hand, with all four men fighting whoever was closest to them. Rey Mysterio hit an early spot, connecting with a suicide dive to the outside of the ring onto Michaels, Morrison and Swagger. The first elimination came just before the halfway point when Morrison connected with the Starship Pain on Swagger and got the three count. Michaels, Morrison and Mysterio really took it to each other from there, hitting every big move they could while Edge just mocked them at the announcers table. Morrison was the second person eliminated after Shawn Michaels delivered some Sweet Chin Music to him to get the pinfall. The ending stretch saw Michaels and Mysterio sharing a lot of near falls until Michaels set up Mysterio for the Sweet Chin Music, only for Morrison to grab his leg. The distraction gave Mysterio time to recover and roll Michaels up for the pinfall, much to the shock of the crowd. Winner: Rey MysterioRey Mysterio gets to his feet while Edge just watches from the announcers desk, gripping the WWE Championship. Meanwhile Shawn Michaels also got to his feet, quickly realizing that John Morrison just cost him a shot at the WWE Championship. Morrison backs up the ramp grinning while Shawn Michaels looks on in anger. SmackDown comes to an end with two stare downs, one between the WWE Champion Edge and his Backlash challenger Rey Mysterio, and the other between Shawn Michaels and John Morrison.
