Good wrestler, boring as hell to watch though.

I really liked his title reign. Before his rampage Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers so it was nice to see him as World Champion.

I thought it was very different from the usual champs, and I loved it. He did all his talking in the ring, and thats really all I care about. Its a shame what he did in his personal life, but professionally I found him as a great wrestler.

I thought it was fantastic and one of my personal favourite title reigns. From his Royal Rumble win to Wrestlemania XX was tremendous. It was built up well and his title win was a classic match. He didn't really need to come out every Raw and/or Smackdown and cut a 20 minute promo telling everyone how awesome of a champ he is; he came out every week and kicked ass. He had fresh feuds with Kane and Randy Orton, an awesome summer rivalry with HHH that led to a great Iron Man match on RAW, and..
.. he made HBK tap to the Sharpshooter in Edmonton.
It was pretty sweet.

I loved it in all honesty. It was a break from another Triple H run.

I remember enjoying his title run. Boring is the last word I'd use to describe Benoit in ring. He brought more intensity to his matches than anyone on the current roster. I thought he made for a very strong, credible champion. I agree with the exception being on the current roster there's intense talent unless you meant at the point which he was champ.. then I'd agree with Angle sort of on par. Yeah, I agree with you though. Benoit and boring is the last thing I think of. I can understand how he'd be a wrestler's favorite wrestler as well as despicable human-being.. but charisma isn't everything, if a wrestler can pull off a match that really keeps you captivated.

The only part of it that I remember was the Ironman match with Hunter. So, I'd have to agree with your friends.

I think what hurt him is he couldn't really cut a promo that well. I mean people say Bret Hart couldn't but people still got behind him so perhaps that really isn't much of an excuse.
I don't know. There really wasn't much to his run. It did create one of the most memorable moments in WM history though. Shame people just want to forget it altogether but ah well. I'll always remember and love that moment with him and Eddie and them crying and all.

Its funny cause if bret hart killed his wife and kids everyone here would prolly call him boring I was calling Benoit boring long before everyone found out what kind of a person he really was. And it was never a popular opinion back then amongst the Usual Bunch of Internet Idiots. But as mentioned above, Kurt Angle was a guy that had all the athletic/workrate/blahblahblah skills as Benoit, but managed to have a personality as well. The World Champion should not be the least captivating personality in the entire company. Back then, we didn't know that the reason Benoit was so devoid of personality was that he was a ed-in-the-head murderer who couldn't relate properly to people. We only knew he was boring. And by the same token, I always found Bret Hart pretty boring, too. He became a main eventer right around the time that Mr Perfect returned to the WWF as a babyface, and I always preferred Perfect. I was so pissed that Bret beat him in the KOTR semis. Bret Hart, much like Benoit, was pretty dull and bland to me... At least up until the Austin feud.

You don't need charisma or anything else when you are as good in the ring as Benoit was.

IMO, the people who didn't liked his title reign are people who don't really like technical wrestling, but watch it to be entertained.

I liked it. And I loved his final match as champ against Orton.

I loved his title run. But then again, I really love technical wrestling. I never had a problem with not being entertained by him. His matches with HHH/HBK were outstanding, the match with Kane was well done IMO. And his matches with Orton were very good as well.
I don't know, I never really cared about what you can do on the mic and whatnot, I watch wrestling to see wrestling. But its all a matter of your own taste really.

Aside from Benoits great In-ring skills, I found him to be bland and boring. Just my opinion, i think thats why Benoits title run was short lived + never got a chance to step up again. Exactly. The guy had no charisma and nothing interesting about him. The title chase of a guy who had been wrestling for years and years and was finally getting his big shot was really the only story you could tell. Once he actually won it, it was over. He never had the presence to be any kind of longterm champ. I thought that SummerSlam was too long for him to have had it, but having a boring wrestling robot as champion allowed for the HHH-HBK and the Eugene stuff to not be overshadowed. At the time when he 1st won the title I was happy for him because he did deserve it but his title reign was not the most entertaining. I thought that his roughly 4 month reign was long enough for him. But I was really happy when he lost the belt to Orton because Orton was and still is one of my favorite wrestlers. Sucks that HHH had to win a month later. .

IMO, the people who didn't liked his title reign are people who don't really like technical wrestling, but watch it to be entertained. i agree and im sure you'll agree that there is nothing wrong with that. i prefer a techical masterpeice over a great promo but i realize im in the minority. the fact that benoit even had the belt for four months was great like ssilva said. the only thing i disagree with that i have seen alot is that he was boring on the mic. he had a great distinct voice and always came off as such a badass. he kept his promos short and sweet and did the whole '' i talk in the ring'' deal. which i loved and he always recieved great reactions from the live audience when he would talk.

I loved his run. My only beef was that it was to short. I love technical wrestling and he was one of the best at it. But I don't like to think about him anymore!

i thought he was a genuine true champion. he represented the company well and reminded me of a lot of old school champions of the past and how they represented the belt. i watched his reign end live and i was SO ing pissed.
