Benoit's title reign was a total bust. his feud with Kane was basically something to preoccupy the worl title while the focus of the show remained Triple H v HBK. i was very disappointed in WWE for making the World Champion at the time take a backseat.

IMO, the people who didn't liked his title reign are people who don't really like technical wrestling, but watch it to be entertained. i agree and im sure you'll agree that there is nothing wrong with that. i prefer a techical masterpeice over a great promo but i realize im in the minority. the fact that benoit even had the belt for four months was great like ssilva said. the only thing i disagree with that i have seen alot is that he was boring on the mic. he had a great distinct voice and always came off as such a badass. he kept his promos short and sweet and did the whole '' i talk in the ring'' deal. which i loved and he always recieved great reactions from the live audience when he would talk. Of course that isn't wrong, I mean, that's why there are technical, hardcore, brawlers, high-flying, etc. wrestlers. It is for a different taste. I am just saying that whoever didn't liked Benoit's title run, I don't really think they like technical wrestlers at all.

Well, I love technical wrestling. I also think it is important to get yourself over by being able to work the mic as well. I feel that Benoit told a great story with his wrestling and I thought that was awesome. His promos were short and to the point and I thought he got himself over with his promo style. To some he may be boring, but I enjoyed his work, despite what he eventually did in his personal life.

I had a great deal of respect for Benoit. Everything you do in life impacts everything else. I lost all respect when he became a child killer. You can't separate his personal life from his career. I fyou wish to kill yourself it's your choice. His kid was innocent. I don't care how high you can jump off ropes or sell moves, he is one of the biggest losers ever.

Christopher Michael Benoit (May 21, 1967 – June 24, 2007) was a Canadian professional wrestler who is best recalled for his time with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Throughout his career with those companies, Benoit accumulated a total of sixteen championships as a singles competitor, and is officially recognized by WWE as a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, having held both the WCW and WWE incarnations of the Big Gold Belt. He was also the 2004 Royal Rumble winner. Benoit was a decorated tag team competitor in all three promotions, and a seven-time World Tag Team Champion overall.

But yeah, his reign was kind of a bust. I remember leading up to his match with Kane they hardly even built it up compared to other feuds going on at the time. Originally I was against Orton winning the title so early but in retrospect, I think that was the right decision if all else just so he could say he's the youngest champion. The guy has mileage on him and it sounds great for him to be able to say that, even if his run lasted only a few weeks.

I was a HUGE Benoit fan at the time. I remember marking out when he won the title, but just a couple weeks into his title reign, I'd stopped caring.

I too enjoyed his run as champ, especially the stuff with Kane. However, his killing spree still freaks me out to this day. Wjhat a tragic end to a great career.

Never was huge on Benoit, even before everything that happened, so yeah, didn't think much to his title reign at all. I wanted HBK to win at WrestleMania XX.

I honestly believe that the problem with Benoit's title reign was that nothing defined it. His title run is defined by him winning it. Though they were good, none of his fueds as champ are immediately memorable. Every great champoin has a feud that defines their titles reign, defines them as a champion. Benoit didn't have this. Put this in with the fact that he won the title playing third wheel to the evergoing HBK vs HHH feud that was automatically thought of whenever they crossed paths. I don' think that he's boring, but I do think that they did a poor job of making him someone to care about.

I never really found him to be boring, but whatever, different tastes for different people I guess.

But cannot blame a single person for hating Beniot for what he did. If you decide to ignore the fact that he murdered his family and offed himself, or if you decide to "seperate" his personal life from his professional that's up to you as well. I for one have not become so desensitised to death and murder that I'm willing to put a man's professional wrestling career over the fact that he murdered his innocent family before taking the easy way out himself. It's up to you what you do .

I'm not gonna get into what I think of Benoit as a person I'm just gonna comment on his title run. Was Benoit boring in the ring? Hell no, he was one of the greatest wrestlers ever. He was good on the mat and his psychology was tremendous. The guy was one of the hardest working wrestlers you will ever find.
As far as his title run, no it was not great but was that Benoit's fault? Nope. It was Triple H's fault for still being the main focus on RAW while Benoit was booked to have the title but wasn't the guy the show was built around. With that said Benoit had fantastic matches as champion. Both of the triple threats were great and the WrestleMania XX match is the best triple threat match the WWE has ever had and it had that WrestleMania feel to it unlike other triple threats that WWE does now of days. He then went on to have great matches with both Shawn Michaels & Triple H in singles competition and also had a great match with Orton at SummerSlam 2004.

I never once talked about how I felt about Benoit personally, nor did I bash anybody's opinion on him. I simply stated that what he said has nothing to do with the topic question. The topic discusses what we thought of his title reign, and he felt the need to bring up his personal feelings of Benoit in a completely unrelated thread.

I'm just saying that he probably did so because what Beniot did personally destroyed any respect that he had for him or anything he's ever done. That is possible. I don't care what thread it is or what topic it is. When the name Beniot is brought up from this day til the end of time, someone, if only just one person, will mention him killing his family. So weather it has anything to do with your thread title is irrelavent. It has to do with Beniot so you'll always get replies talikg about the incident.

Like how WWE, tries to make out Benoit never existed.
