Benoit's title reign was a total bust. his feud with Kane was basically something to preoccupy the world title while the focus of the show remained Triple H v HBK. i was very disappointed in WWE for making the World Champion at the time take a backseat. That's what killed his title reign more than anything else HHH and HBK / writers wouldn't let him be the priority its like they put the title on him out of respect but REALLY didn't have a plan on what to do with his run after....they make him feud with Kane WT ? If they would have had him go against people with good Mic skills or a person with a manager to do there talking (example Brock /Heyman) it would have helped. When you look back Beniot had some of the best feuds of that era Jericho, Eddie, Kurt, Rock, HHH ,HBK all of these people looked GREAT just being in the ring with him..they should have set it up so they could return the favor on HIS title run

Benoit's title reign last roughly 4 months, and some of his ppv events were not like "the bigger matches" meaning not the actually main event, Badd blood 04 HBK/HHH was the headlining match and not kane/Benoit. But when there was the good match made,it was worth watching. I fcuking love technical matches, especially Wm 17 Benoit and Angle . he still should've beat rock with shane o'mac at whatever event that was, he was over as a heel then He actually did.... for like 30 seconds and then Mick foley came out(the commissioner of WWF at the time) and reversed the outcome, and the match still went on....Then the rock won.

That's why Michaels was in the triple threat, and that's why Michaels, HHH and Eugene were the bigger TV priorities on Raw.

Take it for what it's worth, but the fact that Orton got a monster pop after beating him in Canada of all places, suggests it had run it's course.

It speaks volumes then that his match with Orton at SummerSlam '04 had no vignette to back it up; and he lost clean without the grandeur of the 'rematch clause'.
Regardless, I found Benoit to be an amazing competitor, but he wasn't a 'Superstar', and probably didn't want to be.

He did have a rematch the next night, but he lost that mainly to usher him out of the main event, to have Evolution turn on Orton

I get what you meant, though.

I liked his run but to me it was too predictable. Every PPV title match he had, you knew he was going to win, the only PPV match he had that surprised me was SS 04' against Orton.

I really enjoyed his title run, but then again, unlike most people I prefer the in-ring abilities over mic skills and charisma. I actually think The Rock, Austin and Cena are simply not that good in-ring performers, but they are very charasmatic and that's what sells.

Austin was a great technical worker before his injury. I'm not sure that you know that so I won't be a jerk and about it. You have a point with Cena. It's is possible to have charisma and wrestling ability, which is why it's unacceptable these days to only have one.
