I really am pissed, that was such a horrible decision, Shogun clearly won that fight. Ugh!

Without a doubt, the worst decision I have ever seen. Like, I couldn't even believe it. I for one was expecting Machida to make easy work of Shogun. Shogun clearly won 4-1. The fact he lost was crazy, the fact he lost by UD is crazier, and the fact that one judge actually scored the fight 50-45 in favour of Machida leaves me speechless.
Easily, there should be an immediate rematch. Not like there should be though, Shogun was the clear cut winner. I honestly don't even know what else to say.
Although, if it means anything, Shogun looked great. He didn't even gas like I was expecting him to. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come, even though I must say, he looked devestated after the fight.

what a ing joke. i have no idea how the refs gave this fight to machida. i had it 5-0 to rua... not that im a professional, but ive seen enough ufc fights in my life to have a clue. this was a terrible TERRIBLE decision. mauricio shogun rua should be the lightheavyweight champ of the world. point blank and period. the judges completely underestimated rua's rib and leg kicks. which machida did nothing impressive the entire fight to me... but rua was landing consistently, and VERY hard... and even goldberg said in the 5th, that machida needs to get offensive here, because hes likely behind. this was a really terrible decision. even machida was ing shocked when the decision was announced... infact, even goldberg and rogan, thought this fight went to rua. and goldberg was even speaking about it in the 5th round. a complete joke of a decision. terrible, absolutely terrible. was don king involved in this? loving the fans booing the decision at the end though... well done by them. instant rematch... needed, definitely needed.

As one of the biggest Machida fans of this board, all I can say is this: Machida himself accepted the decision.
I was gutted, downright saddened, to see the fight go the way it did, but I accepted the loss.
Shogun was robbed. My only hope is that the decision doesn't cost Machida his fanbase...it's not his fault the judges were horrendously incompetent. The man himself accepted the defeat... this has got to be one of the worst decisions in the history of MMA.

It also sickens me that Machida was beating around the bush when asked questions about who won.
"Do you think you won the fight?"
"3 Judges Said I Won".
It's a yes or no answer, Lyoto.

^ Oh, he knew the real answer for sure. He just didn't want to admit defeat, that's all.
Basically EVERYONE around the world knows he lost that fight.
The entire crowd in attendance last night knows he lost that fight, Dana White knows he lost that fight, the members on this forum know he lost that fight, family members that I talked to 3 hours away last night all agree Machida lost that fight, but somehow the three judges that were in charge last night saw it all for Machida, earning him a hands-down, unanimous decision.
Just what fight were they watching?? How can EVERYONE else around the world have said Shogun won and yet three morons judging the thing saw it MUCH, MUCH differently?? How is that even remotely possible??
I will be shaking my head on that decision for a long time to come...

I will be shaking my head on that decision for a long time to come... all 3 judges had it 3 rounds to 2 in favor of machida, so lets assume... all 3 judges, gave rounds 1 and 2 to machida... the two closest rounds in my opinion... which other round did they give him, to give him the win? this is my question, because im clueless there.

^ 3 rounds to Shogun's 2?? That right there is straight-up bullsh*t. Shogun certainly won more than 2 rounds. There's no question in my mind about that.
Machida winning more than one round is a joke. It's just not possible in the fight that I, along with everyone else, was watching last night.
In my opinion, he may have squeaked out round 1, which is debatable. Every round after that, I had in favor of Shogun. Rounds 2, 3, 4 and 5 all went to Shogun the way I saw it. There's no doubting that.
I saw what I saw and I saw Shogun winning that fight. So did LOTS and LOTS of other fans.
So, the final question still remains. How can 3 people have possibly saw it that much differently to hand out a unanimous decision for Machida??

I thought he was dodging that the whole conference too. He knows he lost and doesn't want to say it. Shogun got screwed... he really did.

Wow, I didn't see that coming. Yeah, Shogun won that fight, especially in the last two rounds. But I guess it's like that old Boxing myth: In order to BE the champion you have to BEAT the champion. Neither man in that fight had the upper hand. Shogun didn't dominate the fight, he couldn't even take it to the ground. I bet you if he had a few takedowns and rocked Machida to ground he would have won this no doubt. I'm pretty sure Shogun will take it cleanly in the rematch.

I was completely s*itfaced when i watched it and even knew he won lol. Hopefully there is a rematch. Also really surprised Cain Beat Rothwell like that. Rothwell can take a lot of punishment, but he just looked totally helpless against Cain's wrestling. Velasquez was schooling him with takedowns and positioning, and Rothwell just couldn't maintain a decent position long enough to fight back. He wasn't knocked out cold, but there's no doubt Rothwell would not have fared any better if the fight continued, because he wasn't just going to magically become a Cain-level wrestler between rounds. Good win for Velasquez.

Once again, it just proves just how one-dimensional Heavyweight fighters are.

"Judges Cecil Peoples and Marcos Rosales both awarded Machida the first three rounds and gave Rua the final two. Judge Nelson "Doc" Hamilton scored Rounds 1 and 5 for Rua but gave Machida the middle rounds. Scores were united at 48-47 in Machida's favor."
so thats the breakdown. dont see it, just dont see it.

Wasn't saying it was a bad stoppage. Just shocked Rothwell got beat that bad. It WAS a bad stoppage. But he WAS getting his ass kicked and really doesn't have much ground to stand on if he's trying to say he deserved to keep fighting. Probably could've been stopped BEFORE that. LoL.

I watched the fight a second time and still don't really know how the fight was scored unanimously to Machida, I mean I guess I can see how the first 3 rounds were relatively close (though I was looking for ways you could score them to Machida the second time), but rounds 4 & 5 were pretty much all Shogun & you gotta think he takes at least one of the first 3. Machida pretty much knew it from his reaction when he the announcement was being made as well, like he was waiting for the news. Things like this really bring the question of legitimacy out. Still good to see a rematch in the works, I don't think anyone else was really immediately ready for a shot anyway, hopefully Shogun takes the rematch and we see Shogun/Anderson down the line.
Glad to see Rumble & Velasquez pick up victories & hopefully continue on their ways towards title shots in their respective divisions.
