United States Championship
Kofi Kingston vs Bryan Danielson©
The bell sounds as Danielson and Kingston stare each other down before proceeding to circling the ring. They step forward and lock up, Danielson backing off slowly. They lock up once more, Kingston now backing off. Circling once again, Danielson shoots for the legs but Kingston jumps over him. Danielson gets up to a huge fury of kicks to the ribs and legs, getting backed into the corner. Kingston hops onto the second turnbuckle and begins the ten punches. He stops at nine and taunts to the crowd. Danielson takes advantage off it and pulls himself under him, tripping him face first into the turnbuckle. He then hits an inverted DDT and goes for the pin, Kingston kicking out easily. He drags Kingston up to a sitting position in the middle of the ring and kicks him in the back, and then the chest right after to send him down. He drops to the mat and applies multiple variations of arm locks and head locks. He gets up with Kingston cockily shouting, "I'm the best!" He gets shoved off to the ropes and met with a huge dropkick that sends him through the ropes. Kingston pops right back up and fakes jumping over the ropes in a springboard by landing on the apron, Danielson moving for no reason. He believes he has outsmarted him, but turns to a crossbody into the barricade. Kingston gets up and taunts to the crowd some more as the referee reaches a count of seven. He pulls Danielson up and tosses him in the ring, following right after. He awaits his rise and when he does, he delivers the Trouble in Paradise. Danielson wobbles before collapsing to the mat. Kingston hooks the far leg, and Danielson manages to place his free one on the ropes at two. The referee points it out and Kingston cannot believe it. He drags Danielson to the middle of the ring and goes off to the ropes, returning for the Boom Drop. However, as he does so, Danielson manages to put his knees up. Kingston lands right down on them and ends up curling up backwards. Danielson quickly finds the advantage of it and applies the Cattle Mutilation! Kingston struggles and struggles, but the pain becomes unbearable and ends up having to tap out.
Winner and still United States Champion: Bryan Danielson (9:51) ***1/2
Danielson raises the United States Championship high to the disapproval of the audience. He takes a mic and looks around the arena with a grin, gaining his breath still. He says that he is once again the best of the best! Once he gets heavy boos again, he just laughs it off. He says if they don't believe him - maybe they should listen to his theme song just a bit more! It plays once again as he steps out of the ring and makes his way to the back.
Cutting to backstage, The Hart Dynasty are shown in their locker room. They adjust their titles and ask Natalya if she is ready. She says she sure is, and then asks the same to them. Tyson says that they can't really say because they have no clue of who their opponents are. Bret Hart walks in and Natalya immediately gives him a hug. He says that he just heard in the hallway that Vince doesn't plan on telling them who their opponents will be until it's time for the match. Smith complains that isn't fair but Bret says he knows that. He says that he taught them a lot months back when he was getting them into the groove of things. He talks about how just two months after they almost wanted to kill each other, they became the Unified Tag Team Champions. He says they need to be ready for anything - because who they face could be absolutely anybody. He wishes all three luck and walks out.
Women's Championship
Melina vs Beth Phoenix©
As Beth is handing the Women's Title over to the referee, Melina rushes over and kicks her in the gut. The referee calls for the bell as Melina strikes down across the back and tosses the champion into the corner, applying her boot to the jaw and pulling away at the ref's count of four. She is warned but doesn't care, and kicks Beth in the gut. She tries to finish things early and sets up for the Last Call, only to have Beth pull out of it and hit a huge clothesline. Furious, she drags Melina up to her feet and hits some hard forearms to the face and then a suplex. She taunts a bit and drags Melina up once again, delivering a powerslam. She does it once again, but on the third attempt, Melina cheaply rakes the eyes and drops down onto her feet. She slaps Beth across the face. Beth remains still for a moment before slowly turning back to Melina in rage. She pushes her back in the corner and unloads with shots to the face and gut. She pulls her out and goes for the Glam Slam, only for Melina to roll through it and go for a pin - but she just barely kicks out. They both rise, Beth going for a clothesline but Melina ducking under it. She kicks the legs hard and then hits a dropkick. Beth hits off the ropes and returns, missing yet another clothesline. Melina then suddenly hits the Extreme Makeover and lets out a huge scream, hooking the legs and getting the pinfall.
Winner and NEW Women's Champion: Melina (5:22) **1/2
Melina is awarded the title and she is in shock. She flaunts it to the crowd, some seeming in disapproval well others just don't care. The seven month long reign of Beth has been ended, and Melina couldn't be more satisfied with her dirty tactics leading to her ultimate win.
Cutting to the back, Josh Mathews is shown and he introduces his guest at this time to be Wade Barrett. He asks about finally getting the chance to win the Intercontinental Championship here tonight. Barrett laughs a bit, and says that R-Truth is a nobody. He claims that tonight will be the uproar of Wade Barrett here in the WWE. He talks about abandoning and destroying his own mentor in William Regal, and now he is doing something with his career unlike Regal. He asks where he has been since he destroyed him in the ring over a month ago, and then says that will be the display on R-Truth here tonight because he is going to take the Intercontinental Title and make sure R-Truth doesn't walk around here again.
Intercontinental Championship
Wade Barrett vs R-Truth©
The bell rings and the two go to the middle of the ring, each talking trash to each other. Barrett shoves Truth away and gets met with a sudden strike to the head. Truth fires off with a few more before mixing it up with a few kicks. Barrett pushes him away and as he comes back, delivers a vicious clothesline. He drags Truth up by the tights and tosses him in the corner like a rag doll. He hits a few hard shots to the forehead and jaw, and then Irish whips him to the opposing corner and misses a clothesline, Truth striking across the back hard. Barrett doesn't take light to it and big boots him down. As Truth gets on his hands and knees, Barrett kicks him in gut. He then applies his boot to the neck and pushes down on the ropes, the referee counting to four before he lets go. Barrett talks some trash to the ref and tries to intimidate him as well. He pulls Truth up, but gets met with a fury of strikes and then a spinning wheel kick that sends him down. Truth then hits off the ropes and hits a low dropkick as Barrett is on one knee and drops him down. He then pops right back up, hits off the ropes, and surprises Barrett with the Axe Kick! He hooks both legs, but Barrett just barely manages to kick out. Truth gets up in disbelief and allows Barrett to get up and he kicks him in the gut. He goes for the Axe Kick again, but Barrett manages to pull away and catch him by the leg in mid air. He lifts him up for the Wasteland, but gets to cocky by holding him in the middle of the ring and showing his strength. Thanks to this, Truth manages to hook onto the arms and roll to the mat, pulling Barrett through and getting the three count.
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: R-Truth (8:02) **3/4
Truth rolls out of the ring and takes the Intercontinental Championship as Barrett pops onto his knees with wide eyes, completely in disbelief of this loss. He pounds his fists into the mat and gets up as Truth taunts the title up at the top of the ramp. Barrett demands a mic and is handed one by Justin Roberts. He says this is ridiculous! He says that the Intercontinental Championship should be his. Truth is soon given a mic up on the ramp. He says that Barrett is just a sore loser - because he knows that he can't beat him one-on-one! Barrett says he knows he can, he just got lucky! Truth shoots right back saying that he didn't get lucky, he'll do it again and that's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth! He walks backstage in celebration.
A hype video plays for Hell In A Cell in just two weeks time.
Diva's Championship
Natalya vs Michelle McCool© w/Layla
The bell rings as McCool quickly runs away from Natalya as she gets closer quickly. Layla grabs the ankle after two jukes, and Natalya immediately is distracted. McCool attacks from behind with strikes and then hits a bulldog. She tries to finish the match here, but to no avail. She argues with the referee and pulls Natalya up by her hair. However, she is tripped up and Natalya goes to lock in the sharpshooter. McCool does manage to push her off though, and gets right back up to a clothesline. Natalya drags her up by her hair and chops at her against the ropes and delivers a few strikes. She whips her to the opposing side, and hits a huge clothesline on the comeback. She goes for the pin but only gets a two count. They get up against and Natalya ducks a clothesline, reversing it up into a powerslam. She goes for the sharpshooter quickly, and manages to lock it in. The crowd believes she is going to win, but Layla aids McCool by grabbing onto her hands and pulling them to the ropes. The referee catches it though, and goes over to Layla to break it up. He then ejects her from ringside! Natalya lets go of the hold and mocks Layla who argues with the referee on the way up the ramp. Natalya smiles and turns around, and is hit with the Diva's Championship from McCool! Layla then begins to walk off as McCool hooks both legs, the referee coming back to the ring and counting the 3.
Winner and still Diva's Champion: Michelle McCool (5:34) **
McCool celebrates the victory as if it were fair as Layla quickly rejoins her in the ring. They mock Natalya as they stand over her, and step out of the ring - making their way to the back. Natalya is seen being checked on by the referee as she seems to be out cold.
A promo video is cut to, showing Christian winning the WWE Championship for the very first time at Summerslam. It then cuts to Abraham Washington announcing the scramble match and Christian saying he won't back down from any defense. It then cuts to recent heat between Edge and Randy Orton, along with Christian having his back up against the wall against Jack Swagger, Sheamus, as well as Edge and Orton as things lead into tonight.
Scramble Match for the WWE Championship
Jack Swagger vs Randy Orton vs Sheamus vs Christian© vs Edge
Swagger and Orton are the first two out as the bell rings. They circle around until Orton suddenly charges and hits an uppercut. He unloads and forces Swagger into the corner, hitting a few hard shots to the crowds approval. Swagger gets out of the ring and begins to walk around, checking his mouth for blood. Orton slips out of the ring and follows up behind him slyly, but Swagger expects it and jabs an elbow back into the gut. He takes Orton by the back of the neck and throws him into the ring apron before pulling him back into the ring and following. They both rise, Swagger hitting a few stiff shots to the head and ducking a clothesline. He hits a belly to belly suplex, and then hooks the leg but only gets a two count as the pinfall does not get in. He is frustrated and drags Orton up again, shoving him into the corner and hitting a few shoulders into the gut. Orton sends a knee up on one of them and proceeds to clobber down across the back and gets Swagger down. He begins his slow and punishing stomping process to the arms and legs and lastly the face. After that, Sheamus makes his way down to the ring and quickly gets in, trading blows with Orton. He ducks one and quickly hooks hold of the waist, hitting a German suplex. He then gets up and clotheslines Swagger over the top rope. He turns to Orton with a sick grin across his face. Orton rises, but ducks under the Bicycle Kick attempt and hits the RKO on the spin around! He hooks the leg and gets the pinfall. Randy Orton is the interim champion. Orton coils as he rises to his feet as the crowd cheers him on. Swagger trips him from the outside though, and drags him out. Orton is quick though, and sends a strike and then gets back on the apron. Sheamus comes storming at him and dives at his gut, but Orton manages to move and he ends up falling to the outside into Swagger. Orton slowly gets back in the ring and just allows time to continue onward. Swagger ends up getting in the ring, and ducks a clothesline. He clobbers the back a bit and throws Orton into the corner once again, hitting a few shots and shoulders to the gut. Sheamus is back in the ring now though, and pulls Swagger away and trades some shots with him. Orton storms out of the corner and clotheslines them both down. As they hit, the champion Christian makes his way to the ring. Orton looks satisfied with him coming down to the ring and watches from the ropes. Not a good idea, however, as Sheamus hooks hold of his arms and pulls him up in the air from behind, delivering the Celtic Cross. He scrambles into a pin as Christian tries to hurry to the ring, but just gets in as the three is counted. Sheamus is the interim champion. Christian gets up and immediately trades blows with Sheamus, forcing him up against the ropes and hitting some sharp chops. Meanwhile, Swagger pulls Orton up in the corner and hits a few knees to the stomach. Christian ducks a clothesline and hits a dropkick to the back that forces Sheamus out of the ring. Swagger then rushes to Christian and goes for a big boot, but gets tripped up into the middle turnbuckle. Christian walks right into Orton, who goes for the RKO - but just barely gets pushed off. He holds onto the ropes though and goes for a clothesline on Christian - who ducks it - and goes right to Sheamus who is crawling through the ropes. He pulls him in slightly, feet hanging on the ropes, and delivers the devastating hope rung DDT. He pounds his fists into the mat and awaits the rise, but as Sheamus grabs hold of the ropes and gets to one knee, Edge makes his way down to the ring. Orton immediately changes his plans and rolls out of the ring, trading blows with Edge on the outside. Sheamus is up and backs into the Killswitch from Christian! But no pin is made - by Christian at least - as Swagger comes over and shoves him out of the way and hooks the legs of Sheamus, getting the pinfall. Jack Swagger is the interim champion. With about 4 and a half minutes left in the match, Swagger celebrates as if the time is up and he is the actual champion. He turns to a huge shot from Christian that rocks him, and then another, and then a few more. He dips under a wild shot, and hooks hold of the arms, trying to hit the Killswitch. He gets pushed through the ropes, however, and Swagger catches his breath. He turns to a spear from Edge out of nowhere though, and the legs are hooked for the three. Edge is the interim champion. The crowd boos heavily, but Edge is almost immediately met with the RKO! The crowd's reaction then turns into thunderous cheers! But Sheamus makes his prescense known as he hits the Bicycle Kick on the risen Orton, and goes for the pin on him and gets the three count. Sheamus is the interim champion. The time left gets down to 1 minute and 22 seconds as Sheamus taunts. Orton goes for a roll up on him, but that fails. Edge then does the same, and so does Swagger. Nobody can pin him and Orton slides slyly behind Sheamus, who is trying to catch his breath. But Edge reaches first as he goes for the spear - but he doesn't reach Sheamus, who moves out of the way, and gets Orton. He settles for it though and begins to strike down on him and they eventually fall out of the ring. Swagger gets up and goes towards Sheamus, only to be lightly tossed into the corner and smashed with a clothesline. Time is now down to 35 seconds as Sheamus believes he has this won! He looks around wildly, and nobody is around. Suddenly, however, Rob Van Dam comes rushing to the ring and begins to trade blows with Sheamus! He ducks a clothesline and delivers a spinning wheel kick. He then delivers the Rolling Thunder and gets out of the ring. Christian gets up in the ring as the time reaches 10 seconds, and he pulls Sheamus up to his feet. He struggles a bit but manages and to hit the Killswitch! He hooks both legs at four and the referee counts the three. Christian is the interim champion. The time is down to one second after the pin is counted.
Winner and still WWE Champion: Christian (20:00) ****
Christian is awarded the title as his first defense is a struggling and stressful success. However, he has made it through. He climbs the turnbuckles and raises the gold high with a smile as wide as he had when he won the title just a month ago at Summerslam. He shouts out to the crowd, "The time for Christian has finally come!" Meanwhile, as he is still celebrating, Orton and Edge are still battling it out as the cameras pan through the crowd!
Orton fires off with a strike that stumbles Edge backwards through the crowd. They make their way up the stair set, Edge trying to get away from 'The Viper'. The crowd will them on as Orton takes Edge by the hair and the tights, and rushes with him into the concession stand area and tosses him over the counter of the food stand. He begins to walk away, but Edge slowly gets up and goes right back after Orton. He turns and gets a spear right into the popcorn machine! The glass shatters as it falls over with both men. Security makes their way over and pulls them away, Orton wincing in pain. Edge backs off and says that is the least of what he deserves and he'll get what's coming to him sooner or later!
Returning back to the arena, Unified Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty make their way down to the ring. They get a pretty good reaction from the crowd overall and wait in the ring for their opponents. However, Mr. McMahon struts his way down to the ring. He says that in the past weeks he has been in search for a tag team duo that will do exactly what he wants them to do and excel in doing so! He says that this search has been hard and he just made the decision 3 days ago. He says that he had some contemplations as if this team can really cooperate with each other as good as it seems or not, but he ultimately decided that it didn't matter because he has known these two men for quite some time and he knows that they will be successful in taking away the Unified Tag Team Titles from not only The Hart Dynasty but the Hart family altogether! The crowd boo him as he says he would like to introduce the first man to destroy The Hart Dynasty... Kurt Angle! The crowd boo tremendously but are also in complete shock. Angle makes his way down to the ring and shakes hands with Vince, who laughs and says that isn't all! He says he knows that Kurt could do this all on his own but he does require a tag team partner and that man is none other then Triple H! Even more boos of shock and disbelief. Vince shakes his hand as he gets in the ring and laughs a bit, looking to The Hart Dynasty with an evil grin. He says that he told them the truth: they have no chance in Hell! He steps out of the ring.
Unified Tag Team Championships
The Hart Dynasty© vs Kurt Angle and Triple H w/Mr. McMahon
The bell rings as Kidd starts off with Angle. He goes right at him, and gets juked very quickly and met with a belly to belly suplex. They get up and Angle ducks a shot, delivering a German Suplex. He turns it into the triple, and gets up with a cocky smile. He makes the tag to Triple H, who lets Kidd tag in Smith. He rushes in to HHH, who just tosses him off to the ropes and hits the spinebuster on the return. He then delivers the knee drop to the jaw, and hits one on the rise. He kicks the gut and locks up for the Pedigree as Angle slaps his shoulder. HHH hits the Pedigree as Kidd gets back in the ring. He pops up and ducks a shot, delivering the knee to the face as well. Smith gets up as Angle prepares behind him. Kidd is kicked in the gut and is locked up for the Pedigree. Angle hits the Angle Slam as Hunter hits the Pedigree and just to add insult to injury, Angle pulls his straps down. Hunter then applies the figured four to Kidd as Angle locks in the ankle lock to Smith. He drops down and wraps his legs around it as both men are struggling in pain. However, they eventually end up tapping out simultaneously as the experienced Angle and HHH is too much.
Winners and NEW Unified Tag Team Champions: Kurt Angle and Triple H (4:50) ***
Angle and Hunter are awarded the gold as McMahon pumps his fists in the air on the outside with a smile only Satan could mimic. He gets in the ring and raises the arms of his 'boys', but Jim Ross commentates sickened by the display of how McMahon went about doing this to The Hart Dynasty - whom he praises for working so hard to get the Unified Tag Team Titles in their grasp after not even getting a chance at the gold for so long.
A video is cut to of The Miz cashing in his Money in the Bank at Fatal 4 Way and becoming the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time, and being a constant coward and be very cheap in matches. The video cuts to recent build up - especially within John Cena and Batista, but also the involvements of Ted DiBiase and Ezekiel Jackson showing dominance and trying to work out deals with each other, but everything always resulting in a ring-clearing brawl.
Scramble Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
John Cena vs Ted DiBiase vs Batista vs Ezekiel Jackson vs The Miz©
Cena and DiBiase are first out as the bell rings. They lock up, Cena pushing DiBiase up against the ropes and referee splitting them apart. DiBiase stays still for a while before walking out. They go to the test of strength, but DiBiase kicks Cena in the gut. He dips under his arm and rolls him up fast, getting only a two count. He pulls him up and clubs across the back, and whips Cena off to the ropes and hits a back body drop on the return. He attempts the pin again, but Cena easily kicks out once more. DiBiase seems frustrated a bit and drags him up again, kicking the gut and dipping under the arm. He sets up for Dream Street, but Cena takes hold of his wrists and forces him up and over his head to the mat. He motions "You Can't See Me" and goes on to hit the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He pops up and awaits DiBiase, lifting him up for the Attitude Adjustment as he gets up. However, DiBiase manages to squirm free and hit a neckbreaker. They both stay down for a short while, and Batista ends up coming down to the ring. He goes right to Cena and begins to strike down across the back hard. DiBiase comes up behind him and delivers a cheap shot, Batista not happy about it. He turns right to DiBiase and grabs him by the throat, tossing him into the corner and delivering massive shoulders to the gut. He backs off and tells him to stay down, and turns right into a drop toe hold from Cena. However, as soon as the STF is locked in - Batista taps out. John Cena is the interim champion. Batista rolls right out of the ring as Cena at first seems happy, but realizes that Batista didn't want to be worn down. Cena begins to talk to him over the ropes, and as they are doing so back and forth, DiBiase rushes up behind Cena and hits Dream Street! He hooks both legs and gets the pinfall on him. Ted DiBiase is the interim champion. DiBiase gets up in celebration as Batista gets back in the ring, and he backs up a bit. As The Animal closes in, Ezekiel Jackson enters as the fourth man in the match. He comes down to the ring and stares down with Batista. As they get face to face without saying a word, Cena and DiBiase come running at them and take them both down. Cena beats down on Batista as DiBiase fends Jackson off to the corner. Cena and DiBiase both go to whip the two, but it gets reversed, so they end up hitting each other. They turn back and each meet clotheslines. Batista and Zeke once again step up to each other, and after a few seconds, Batista unloads. Zeke fights back, however, and they end up spilling into the ropes. Batista ducks a big boot though, and tips Zeke to the outside. As Cena gets up, he spears the living hell out of him. He goes for the pin, but Cena manages to kick out. He is frustrated and drags him back up, delivering a huge spinebuster in the middle of the ring. He goes for the pin again, but this time DiBiase breaks it up and begins to try and keep Batista down on the ground, but gets shoved away. The Miz then makes his way out as the final man, but doesn't get in the ring. Instead, he stays at the bottom of the ramp in observation of the match. Zeke gets back in and is immediately bombarded by Cena with a fury of strikes. DiBiase goes for Dream Street on Batista, but gets elbowed in the ribs. The Animal turns and hits the spinebuster. He goes for the pin, but Cena is shoved into it by Jackson from the corner. Batista gets up and rushes to Zeke, hitting a huge spear that flops him to the mat! He then goes up to DiBiase again and goes for the Batista Bomb, only to have DiBiase jump down and dropkick him to the ropes. He comes rushing back to clothesline, but DiBiase ducks, and Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment! He has no time to go for the pin though, as Batista rolls out of the ring. He turns to DiBiase and unloads with strikes to him, receiving some back. He goes to hit the Attitude Adjustment once again, but DiBiase once more hops down and hits the Dream Street. But he can't go for the pin as Miz comes into the ring and clocks him with the World Heavyweight Championship! He picks up the scraps by pinning Cena. The Miz is the interim champion. With less then two minutes left now, Miz laughs about it as it seems like he'll be leaving with the gold still around his waist. He begins to strut around the ring, but ends up walking into the now standing Cena. They glare at each other and Miz goes for a cheap shot, only to be dropped with the spinout suplex. Cena pops up and motions "You Can't See Me" once again, and hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle. He climbs to the top turnbuckle and awaits Miz, hitting the leg drop as he gets to his hands and knees. He motions for him to get up, as Jackson comes rushing at him. Cena dips away from him though and ends up tossing him over the top rope. DiBiase then comes running but is tossed over onto Zeke. He then walks up to The Miz as he staggers to his feet and lifts him for the Attitude Adjustment. But Batista gets up in the ring and slightly spins him around, kicking him in the stomach. Miz is dropped and the Batista Bomb is delivered! The Animal hooks the leg as the referee counts the three, the time down to 12 seconds. Batista is the interim champion. He gets up and looks around with a sick grin. The clock ticks down to 0.
Winner and NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Batista (20:00) ***3/4
The referee awards Batista the World Heavyweight Title and he raises it high. After over a year, The Animal has regained the championship he never truly lost. Cena, meanwhile, lays down on the mat in pain as DiBiase and Jackson stand on the outside frustrated. The Miz sits in the corner throwing a fit like a little child not getting what he wants in the store. The final image of Night Of Champions is Batista taunting the title in the corner.
