That was the first time I ever saw one of those infamous TNA red cage of death matches and I was utterly confused. I have been a wrestling fan for 20 years and I was very confused. Considering TNA was banking on having an influx of new viewers that night, you would think they would spoon feed the casual audience that was tuning in. Instead they had a cage match end in a DQ, had one of the competitors in the match awkwardly climb and attempt to escape said cage...and rely on the TV and live audience to know that a "behind the scenes reason" was the culprit of this debacle. Got it. Go TNA. This is your answer... Sometimes things happen "off TV" that may determine why we do a finish we do.... [/b] [/center]

Vince Russo is an absolute joke. I can't put into words how much I despise the man. Until TNA get rid of him and do the whole of the Wrestling business a favour, they will not go forward as a company.
Stick him in the 6 sided ring and chuck 'em out with the trash.

-- Jason Powell on Prowrestling.net has a report today that Vince Russo's job is safe for now as TNA writer. Meanwhile, he's giving himself enough rope to hang himself as a wrestling booker with his near-daily Facebook answers to fan questions.
Scary Point #1 - Russo doesn't watch anyone else's wrestling to understand what else is out there in the market. What's WWE doing right that TNA could incorporate into their product? What's WWE doing wrong that TNA could be better at to grab viewers or create a competitive advantage? Who's hot in ROH that could be worth incorporating into a TNA storyline?
Scary Point #2 - He's not familiar with Shelton Benjamin's work. That means he hasn't been paying attention to what else is out there in the wrestling market for a long time. That's a big bubble to be inside without understanding the market or what wrestling fans are being exposed to in addition to TNA programming.
Scary Point #3 - He doesn't understand why you protect the cage match gimmick, especially when TNA has an entire PPV dedicated to the cage match. No, there isn't a "written rule" about not being able to have a DQ in a cage, but you just don't do DQs in a cage. The cage is the ultimate decision-maker when a feud culminates. Every feud that ends up in a steel cage should have a decisive winner and loser. Of course, this is the same company that throws out cage matches on free TV hype with no hype for no reason whatsoever at the beginning of a feud or even when a feud does not exist.
If Russo understood the very basics of what works in pro wrestling, then perhaps he would be able to effectively incorporate his style of writing into TNA's TV product. But, these three scary points should be concerning to TNA management. We will assuredly see more scary points as Russo continues to answer questions to promote his new book, while he continues to expose himself for not understanding the fundamentals of the wrestling business or understanding what else is out there in the marketplace.

Great report... besides that one detail which is the fact he stated he wanted Orton in TNA. So, he must watch WWE product to know he wanted Orton.

Ya know, most parents love their kids, but if they see them doing something that's gonna bring them harm, The parents are not just gonna sit back and not say anything about it. They're gonna yell, scream, do whatever I can to get her to go the other way, not because they hate them but because They want her to be safe and they care. There's alot of kids that wish their parents would take a little control and not just let them do whatever they want. Those same kids probably do whatever they want with no filters in their life and end up messed up. Yeah, random thought, but weigh it up if you can.

But, he has to be familar with the WWE product (even if it's just a little bit) to know he wants Orton in TNA. He's not going to want someone in TNA that he hasn't seen wrestle. Does that mean he watched WWE last night? No. But, he has to watch it at some point.

he admits in his answers that he doesn't pay attention to the wwe product and has never seen an roh show. that's suffice to say he has no real idea what has happened in the wrestling world since he was thrown out of it.

Anyone can watch just one wrestler, but it doesnt necessarily give you a feel for the product or how the show is produced. And that's the problem. Russo, doesn't learn from anything..he takes the same square peg and continues to try to cram it in a round hole with the same results. Then he whines and complains about how everybody is against him and makes excuses instead of lookin at what he does and adapting. That's just a prime example of someone that doesnt give a shyt about anything but their own ego.
