Ok, in that case, can you explain a few things to me because obviously I haven’t been paying attention. How can a steel asylum match end in a no contest? Also, a month or so back on Impact, Beer Money faced The British Invasion in their last opportunity for the tag team titles in a steel cage match. The match ended in a DQ. How can you have a DQ in a cage match? What’s the point of having cage matches if they end like that? If you’re going to have a DQ or No Contest wouldn’t it make more sense to have a match that facilitates that sort of ending?
Show me the wrestling rule book where it says you can't have a DQ in a cage match. As far as Monday nights match went-there was a reason "behind the scenes" why the match had to end in a DQ. These are some of the things wrestling "critics" never take into consideration. Sometimes things happen "off TV" that may determine why we do a finish we do.
Also--are you saying that you would never see a DQ in an MMA match because it's inside a cage?

Oh, sorry. I didn't reliaze there was some rule on here that says "All Vince Russo news & discussion must be placed in one post". Just thought since people were complaning about DQ in the cage so much I would post his response where everyone could see it.

Once again, why are they comparing MMA to wrestling? Different rules, and one of them is planned. The issue I have is TNA SPECIFICALLY STATED that the only way to win the match, was the climb out of the cage. Why does this matter? Because the only way the match should have had a conclusion of some sort is when someone climbed out of that  ing cage. To me "THE ONLY WAY TO WIN" means that a ing bus could drive to the ring, filled with jello covered midgets, and dance around the ring while taking shots of cold medicine and hitting each other with purple rubber malletts.......and THE ONLY WAY THE MATCH WOULD END would be that way. The whole point of that phrase is to emphisize that its not a normal match with normal rules. If it was a normal match, that just so happen to be in a chage, then I'd understand. I'd understand, because it'd make sense. One of the issues that TNA has always had is they rely too much on the view to figure everything out. |

Here's JR's comments on Russo's comments on TNA's fans and critics' comments:
"Been reading on line some interviews with those in the biz who feel that Cage Matches need not a winner via the stipulations set forth in the presentation. I could not disagree more. Cage Matches were created to bring about closure, literally and figuratively, and to have a disqualification in a cage match is wrong...in my opinion. Granted, my opinion may not be 100% accurate either but it's my opinion nonetheless.
I'm not even a big fan of 'escaping the cage' to determine a winner in a cage match but I can live with that easier than I can seeing someone get disqualified inside a cage in a pro wrestling match. Ugh."

We could have all guessed that the DQ inside the cage was a 'Russo Idea', nobody else could have thought about it.
An explanation or not, Cage matches of any kind NEVER end in a DQ...
