I saw an interview with Dana White & The CEO of the UFC on Fox & here's some of Dana's comments on WWE. When asked "In how many years do you think it would take to become bigger than the WWE & Boxing?" He said: "We already are. Last year we were bigger than both combined." (in PPVs) And other comments he made were "We're a sport WWE is not. We're actually real; they're not." Opinions? Dana is a punk. Stop taking the time to take potshots at the WWE in the press and worry about trying to keep talent from leaving b/c of your ego and arrogance. IE Dan Henderson.

All sports are forms of entertainment, why else would we watch?

I'm confused. Are there still people out there that don't know this? Sport : An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.Anyone care to explain how something rigged can be undertaken competitively? And please no one use the "They are performers, trying to outdo each other" excuse, because it takes at least two to tango. So if MLB rigged the World Series so that the Yankees would win, then baseball wouldnt be considered a sport?

How often do UFC stars travel and fight? Depending on injuries and what not, but if your healthy you might be able to have 3 - 4 fights a year.

It's sports entertainment. Even if some people don't actually kick the sh*t out of people they still make contact and people can still get hurt or get concussions.

How often do UFC stars travel and fight? UFC fighters have to be at 100% health to fight though. They still work hard in between fights. They have to stay at a certain weight to fight.

I don't even read that as being condescending, he's just making a point that they're two completely different products. It's like comparing apples to musket balls.
Hell, here's another Dana quote.

Wait, what does travel have to do with sports? So if when the Yankees play in New York baseball isn't a sport for them that night?
As I said before, there is still some pro wrestling out there that is a sport, but the WWE is not a sport any longer by their own admission.

vince started this fact over 10 years ago. When he came on tv and said it's not wrestling it's sportentertainment And he did it to save himself a few bucks. Which is low, but understandable from a business standpoint. Does the Monday Night Wars count? That was competitive. Besides, at least WWE comes out and admits they're rigged, which to me makes them more legit than the so-called "legitimate" sports. Remember the home run race that united the country in excitement a decade ago? Turns out Mac was juicing and Sammy's bats were corked. Multi-time Super Bowl Champs the New England Patriots? A bunch of filthy cheaters. Tiger Woods, the nicest guy in sports? Yeah, not only is he an adulterer, he has worse taste in women than Bill Clinton. And to a much, much lesser extent, Brett Favre has retired twice, only to suit up for a different team the next season. So you know what? I'm glad WWE isn't a sport, and I'm happy to admit it's rigged, because at least I'm fully aware that what I'm watching is a sham put on solely for my enjoyment.

Don't they have to adhere to the rules of athletic commissions?
Why would a non-sport have to do that?

UFC real, WWE not. WWE entertaining, UFC not. UFC sucks. Months of build-up for a two second fight. that.
