UFC president Dana White laid down the challenge to Internet phenom Kimbo Slice and the street fighter accepted it. Kimbo made it through his stint on Season 10 of "The Ultimate Fighter" and got two more fights with the promotion. Slice went 1-1 in the UFC after the reality show, including a bad loss tonight at UFC 113 against Matt Mitrione. The fight was so one-sided, the UFC president decided to give Kimbo his pink slip. "That's probably Kimbo's last fight in the UFC," said White. "Listen, Kimbo made it farther than I thought he would." When Slice was the centerpiece of CBS' EliteXC promotion, his status drove White nuts. He slammed and badmouthed Kimbo, saying the only way he'd make it to the UFC was to take part in the UFC's prospect show on Spike. That was a bitter pill to swallow for a guy who had earned between $250,000-$500,000 in each of three EliteXC fights. "I didn't know Kimbo, I just knew what I saw," White said of his previous pro MMA fights and his work on YouTube. "The first time I ever met him I said, 'This is going to be an interesting meeting with the [expletive] I've said about him over the years.' " Slice and his handlers were not combative. They just wanted the fighter to get a chance at legitimacy. "He came in. He couldn't be a nicer guy. He took things serious, trained and went after it," said White. "His first fight wasn't the YouTube fights you saw. He won that fight [against Houston Alexander on the TUF 10 finale]. He deserved another fight in the UFC and he lost. Got nothing but respect for Kimbo and I like him as a person. And I think he's carried himself really well." When asked about the "probably" in his original Kimbo quote, White then said definitively that Slice was gone. sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/cagewriter/post/Kimbo-s-run-in-the-UFC-is-over-White-cuts-him?urn=mma,239667

LOL. Last night was Kimbo's first and last UFC PPV appearance. The guy is all hype. Nothing more. And he clearly doesn't deserve to get paid anywhere near $250,000-$500,000 because he's such a sh*tty fighter. I'm glad he's history. He sucked.

i'm bummed he got cut....I mean he had 2 fights, not much time to prove himself
I realize he would never be main event material, but i figured he'd at least stay mid card, and be a good money draw

Kimbo is just too old. He gasses out quick, and I guess he really isn't motivated. I respect him for putting in the time with a real camp and trying to get more skills under his belt, but I think it just happened at the wrong time.

Kimbo is a terrible fighter and doesn't deserve the money he made or the hype that surrounds him. Last night's fight with Mitrione was proof positive of that. I just find it hilarious that last night marked Kimbo's first and last UFC PPV appearance. I do believe that may be a first... ;D

He didn't get his ass kicked by Nelson. You must have been watching a different fight... all Nelson did was smother Kimbo with his massive gut, and tap him lightly in the head a few times.

With Shogun being my number two fighter, I can't express how happy I am! Surely not as happy as him but still. And thank god Kimbo got cut too. and WHEN Rampage beats Rashad the we get Shogun vs Rampage 2?! I would to see Rampage revenge that loss and be the champ again.

First of all I thought Meat looked great for only his second PRO fight, very impressive.
Surprised that Kimbo is being cut, surely if nothing else the UFC could milk his name value a bit longer leting guys like Duffee & Barry get a "High Profile" Win. To be fair to kImbo he put the time in, actually leant some MMA skills & although he's never going to be a top guy in the heavyweight division I think cutting him after this loss is a bit soon.

I didn't find the Alexander fight boring...most exciting ever? no...it was more exciting than some i have seen though Heck, I found the Kimbo Houston fight more exciting than GSP v Hardy...note i said exciting, not more skilled or more impressive, just more exciting and people tune in because Kimbo has a reputation for knocking people out He should go into boxing, He has a better shot at that

it was a bit soon to cut him but as someone else said Kimbo is just too damn old. He looks great during the first round of his fights with his amazing slams and wild punches...but he just doesn't have the skill to hang with any of the HW division. I would have loved to have seen James Toney vs. Kimbo just for the hell of it.

I hope his Jakks figure is still going to be made...but that's a bad blow for him, hope he can recover from this and do something else worthwhile...

I honestly thought he'd get one more fight before getting bounced, but he just has nothing in the tank when he goes all out in the first 2 minutes.

They should let Kimbo have atleast two more fights before they decide to fire him he hasnt really had much of a chance to prove himself Oh, he's had LOTS of time to prove himself, it's just that he turns out to be a friggin' dud in the end. He got his ass kicked by Big Country on The Ultimate Fighter and was given a second chance to come back and redeem himself, but he turned that down. I think that may have rubbed Dana White the wrong way. Probably saying to him that Kimbo didn't want it bad enough. Then, he gives Kimbo another shot against Houston Alexander and it ended up being an atrocious fight where in the end both guys were GASSED beyond belief and Kimbo ended up with the decision. And finally, Dana throws Kimbo a HUGE "gimme" fight that he thought Kimbo would have no trouble in winning. I mean, the guys nickname is "Meathead" and he has a 1-0 record, so you would think a "legendary bad-ass street-fighter" like Kimbo would have no problems winning this one... Well, it turns out that Kimbo, once again, gassed out big time and got ing owned for the majority of the fight and once again, ended up getting finished. Long story short, between the time on The Ultimate Fighter and now, I'm sure Dana White had hoped Kimbo would've improved more than enough to get by a guy named "Meathead", but nope. "Meathead" schooled Kimbo, so Dana knew that if Kimbo couldn't get by a guy with a lousy 1-0 record, then what the hell good is he?? Dana can say all the nice things about Kimbo, but deep down, he knows how much Kimbo sucks at MMA, which is why he dumped his ass so soon. And I for one, am glad he made the decision to do so.
