Which games do you think get waaaaay to much credit than they deserve and are overrated?
For me, its definitely Gears Of War 1 and 2. I absolutely hate both games, if you are not perfect, you die. Just bam. Not to mention the multiplayer is horrendous. A full clip from a rife = no kill. 2 shots with a shotgun = kill. Explain that. Horrible, just horrible.

Halo series, Gears of War series, God of War series, Dead Space, Modern Warfare series, Bioshock, and Portal.
I don't hate these game. I just don't understand why people act as if they are the greatest greatest game ever made.

'new' super mario bros. i mean, its fun but i think its always kinda samey, i'd much rather play a 3d mario.

I think the word "overrated" is the wrong word to use, especially in reference to video games. Every video game, no matter how bad, is subject to it's player's own interpretation. There was a game called Samurai Western that got very bad reviews for being a linear hack 'n slash, but it's actually one of my favorite games to pop in when I'm bored.
But to answer the OP, the Halo series hasn't been able to get me back since quitting at the middle of Halo 2. FPS is by far my least favorite genre, but the story from the first Halo was SO good that it kept me playing.

As previously mentioned, I find that Halo gets a bit more credit than it may deserve.
I understand the appeal, but for those people (like myself) who don't really play online a whole lot, Halo really isn't anything special. There are dozens of games I'll take over Halo any day. I thought the first one was great story wise, I played all the way through it and really enjoyed it. I had a harder time with Halo 2, and I got so bored with Halo 3 that I couldn't even finish it.

MW2
I loved the Campain and also loved COD4 but MW2 online was just, a mess. It can get fun sometimes but it got old fast and the spawn killing got annoying. Also $15 map packs? That killed any chance of me download 3 new maps (and 2 I could play on COD4). And personally I find COD4 maps to be better then MW2 imo.

Killzone. The first was hyped like a mother  er then it came out was average at best got average at best reviews. Then when Killzone 2 is announce all of a sudden Killzone 1 has become a great game and people claim it was great, I still don't understand what the hell happend Killzone 2 was so hyped despite the first being not that great. I tried to get into Killzone 2 i really did but it was very boring in single player and just didn't suck me in at all. |

I hate halo 3. I really think it's just a mediocre game that doesn't deserve all the high scores and accolades it got. There are way way way better fps than halo 3.

The Halo story. I love the multiplayer, its really awesome. But the people who are like 'ITS OUR GENERATIONS STAR WARS!!!!!' you. It was a good story, but it wasnt super amazing. |

People usually use the term overrated when referring to a game that they suck at, which sounds like GOW for you.

i will respectfully disagree with Bioshock, it got rave reviews when then two games came out, but they arent constantly talked about.
For me its the Halo series, the CoD series and the L4D deries
Tho thinking about it, i'd say that almost all modern games are 'overrated'... i always have more fun playing the old 90's sidescrollers with great longevity, replayability and fun over modern games that overcompensate with modern technology and graphics and undercompensate for anything else.

Call Of Duty MW 1 and 2 = Im good at it but the fact that people find it awesome isn,t for me I think this game is ok with all bug , glitchs , hack and crappeople do and spawn kill really sucks but the worst game EVER : GEARS OF WAR serie. It sucks plain and simple , the game is ugly , the guns sucks and online people are just so ing no life . |
