God ing dammit. Silva got SO ing lucky, it's unreal. Sonnen was like 2 minutes away from being the new champ and everyone knows it. He OWNED Silva for 4 straight rounds and got caught. Simple as that. I think Sonnen proved to everyone watching that he is certainly championship material and if I were Dana White, I'd sanction a re-match for sure. Silva got lucky. All there is to it. Sonnen was a bitch though. Saying he didn't tap was VERY cheap when it was clear as day that he made the tap. Silva saying he had hurt ribs going into the match and saying that "he wanted to fight for the fans and UFC even thought he doctor wanted him to pull out" is pretty cheap as well. I bet his ribs wouldnt have been "hurt" if he would have won in the first round.

Would anyone agree that Sonnen deserves a rematch?? Completely 100%. Anyone dominates a champion like that for the entire fight then gets caught with under 2 minutes left, hell yeah he should.

Would anyone agree that Sonnen deserves a rematch?? Nope. He left himself open and paid the price. Big props to him for making it a very dominant fight up until he lost. He should fight Vitor next.

Ignore me...if you can't beat somebody, just walk away right?
and oh no I've been smited!! How mature of you.
And I think there should be a rematch for sure. This fight will definitely make Silva think and reevaluate.

But we do know for certain that Sonnen DID tap, and denying is it just a bitch move when it's clear as day on tape.

It was VERY clear the tap was made. Making excuses like that is just very cheap. Just say "Hey, I fought a great fight and he caught me in a submission, fair and square. I'll do better next time."

Yeah, but dominating Anderson Silva the way he did...Come on man. Who has ever done that before?? Yeah, NOBODY. I think dominating him the way he did, is enough to grant him a rematch. However, I really don't know if Anderson would want to fight him again after getting his ass kicked the way he did. He got OWNED tonight and you know it. By all accounts, Silva lost that fight and just got EXTREMELY lucky with that submission. You know it to be true.

It will be Anderson's advantage if they made a rematch. Anderson will know what Sonnen does and not let it happen. Chael literally left his right hand at Anderson's waist for nearly the entire last round. That is literally the most basic thing they teach you in BJJ class to prevent triangles. Sonnen has had this problem for YEARS.

I agree with Old School. I think the people who say "NO Way he should get a rematch! Never!" are the diehard Silva fans who know their guy got completely destroyed and don't want to see him get beaten again. Nobody's invincible and that was proven again tonight.
Chael did something NO ONE has done and DOMINATE Anderson for 23 straight minutes. That should = rematch

Have him work his way back up against someone like Vitor and really test his skills. He will probably make it back up to the top as well. Sonnen for YEARS has left himself open to submissions, and tonight proved no different. He has needed to work on this for YEARS and still hasn't done it. Anderson showed true heart after being beaten and dominated and still pulled off the win. Do Sonnen vs. Vitor next.

I don't think we'll see the exact same thing again though. But Chael is funny as hell, and pretty good at fighting. And btw, nice sig.

Watching the press conference, Silva looks a lot LESS ed up than Sonnen does. It's crazy.

"This is NOT AN EXCUSE, but my ribs were hurt while training with Lyoto and the show must go on. Not an excuse, but this whole time, I wanted to finish by submission. It just took awhile to let the opening to come to me."

Well, I had to work a ten-hour shift today and I'm dead tired, so I'm calling it a night and heading to bed, folks.
Just one last thing to remember: a win is a win is a win. As Hetfield said, Chael has had problems for years where he's left himself open to submissions.
In regards to an immediate rematch, if enough people demand it I think it'll be given no matter what I or anybody else thinks. Dana loves the big bucks, and a rematch would be pretty huge. That said, Belfort is waiting in the wings no matter who wins, and I think Belfort vs. Sonnen or Belfort vs. Anderson would both be amazing fights.

Very good idea. Depends on how long Anderson wants to sit out. From now, then at least until November(when Vitor I believe said he was ready), then whoever wins would get Silva around March or so barring any injuries. That's a pretty long layoff. Honestly, I think they'll go with Vitor/Anderson in November first though. Somebody fresh you know? Plus, Chael rocked him and Vitor is a harder and faster hitter. Who knows man.
