If they give him an immediate rematch it'll be silly. Have him work his way back up against someone like Vitor and really test his skills. He will probably make it back up to the top as well. Sonnen for YEARS has left himself open to submissions, and tonight proved no different. He has needed to work on this for YEARS and still hasn't done it. Anderson showed true heart after being beaten and dominated and still pulled off the win. Do Sonnen vs. Vitor next. Interesting, Sonnen vs. Vitor. Never thought of that match up to fix this. Very good idea. Depends on how long Anderson wants to sit out. From now, then at least until November(when Vitor I believe said he was ready), then whoever wins would get Silva around March or so barring any injuries. That's a pretty long layoff. Honestly, I think they'll go with Vitor/Anderson in November first though. Somebody fresh you know? Plus, Chael rocked him and Vitor is a harder and faster hitter. Who knows man. Chael rocked him while Anderson was tired. Maia did the same thing. Do Vitor vs. Sonnen and see who fights Silva.

Sonnen admits to tapping, and says he's "heart broken" for what happened.

Actually Rogan said that the punch didn't take him down, he went to dodge it and slipped.

"He says he didn't feel well, and I believe him. I expected more resistance from Anderson and there just wasn't much of it. He says he was hurt and not feeling well, that's probably the case."

I'm glad that just because he lost Sonnen didn't loose his sense of humor because that was the funniest press conference that I've seen.

"He says he didn't feel well, and I believe him. I expected more residence from Anderson and there just wasn't much of it. He says he was hurt and not feeling well, that's probably the case." resistance* Just clearing that up incase anybody gets confused.

Even me being a Sonnen fan I have to say thats sad. It was VERY clear the tap was made. Making excuses like that is just very cheap. Just say "Hey, I fought a great fight and he caught me in a submission, fair and square. I'll do better next time." Outside of what he said to Rosenthal, did he really go on and on about not tapping though? I haven't seen any of the post-fight interviews (if there are any)yet. I expected it to be a repeat of his fight with Paulo, but he seemed to shut himself up before going too far. Anyways, it was a great night of fights. It was really hard to see Sonnen go down after shocking everyone up until that point. From the moment he landed that first big punch on Silva, all of us were on the edge of our seats watching intently. Just an all around great night of fights, despite the bitter ending. Overall I'm just really proud of Chael. Only the people who love a good underdog were really giving him any sort of legitimate chance, and he went WAY over the expectations of ever diehard Silva fan. In reality, tonight was just a great night for both sides. The Silva fans saw their hero show the heart of a champion, and the Silva haters saw him look a little human for once while getting dominated. As much as I loved watching Chael during this whole thing, I also gotta say that I don't think he should get an immediate rematch. He fought the good fight, did great, but got finished. No controversy whatsoever, regardless of how hard it is to swallow for Sonnen fans. With his performance, Chael simply placed himself ahead of someone like Nate, as a fighter who lost to the champ and deserves another chance. -Edit- Nvm on the initial question, I took way too long to get this post out and my question was answered about Chael and the tap out stuff.

In that photo, you can tell Silva was REALLY trying his hardest to get the submission, and it paid off for him. I enjoyed the end of that fight. It was an awesome and very, VERY dramatic ending.
