Love him or hate him, when you're the champ you're not out there too impress. Against Maia, he performed like shit, but did Maia do anything about it? Sonnen dominated him, but did he finish? He's got nothing to prove and nobody has finished him.

Guess you didn't pay attention to the fight. I DID pay attention to the fight...Edgar was more controlling on the ground and his stand up looked better then Penns. How am I wrong for saying "I saw a unanimous dec." when one judge saw it 50-45. I don't think Edgar won all the rounds, and I'm not saying a split decision was a bad call, but I don't think Penn deserves an automatic rematch. It was not that close. Penn landed more strikes in the standup, and Edgar did not keep him down for long when he landed the takedown. Are you seriously using judges as a base for your argument? Judges have made terrible calls before. See Shogun/Machida I.

And please don't use the cliche "Don't leave it in the hands of the judges" line that is used far too much. I know you didn't, but I just see it coming. Maybe if they weren't employing judges that clearly have little knowledge in any form of martial arts, wrestling or boxing, they could get more of these god awful calls correct. Then the Penn's, Shogun's, Hamill's would stop getting screwed out of fights that they've clearly won.

In my view, you should be able to leave it in the hands of the judges and know a correct call will be made. I guess I just saw the fight with Penn/Edgar differently. I still think Hamill should have beaten Bisping

For the most part, I think they should adopt Pride's judging/card system.

For the most part, I think they should adopt Pride's judging/card system. That wasn't perfect either. Ricco got screwed vs. Nog. Ninja vs. Rampage. Steibling vs. A Jap ( I think Shoji??) Just off the top of my head. As for the fights being discussed in the UFC As a Brit & a Bisping fan I can say that Hamil clearly won that fight terrible decision. However iMO Bisping should have got the nod over Rashad. Edgar didn't dominate BJ in any way, however he did win rounds which is all you need to do to win titles. None of this "Beat the Champion" BS. BJ was clearly flat in the fight & Edgar used his speed & movement to land the strikes to steal rounds. Machida/ Shogun. Well that was terrible but at least the rematch sorted that out fairly!!

Nogueira won under PRIDE's judging criteria. They judged primarily by "effort to finish the fight by KO or submission", which Nogueira was doing multiple times.

Not that it's as big a deal as writing columns and getting paid for it, but I made it into the Sunday Junkie mmajunkie.com/news/20289/the-sunday-junkie-aug-15-edition.mmaLook for Sean Allee. I'm pretty sure everyone that emails them gets put into the post...and it's not like I won or anything. Just thought it was cool, and relevant to UFC 117.

Funny how I'm still running into idiots that think Chael didn't tap. Even though he's made statements and went on Inside MMA saying he never disputed it.

Didn't he also say that Josh more or less had to "wake him up" after tapping as well?
It's like, I get it. He won the first 4 rounds by a long shot. But a submission is a submission.

Even Forrest got him with a triangle choke...But that was a long while ago.
