Those were excellent repaints for The Godwinns, but I always wanted them without their caps.
Jakks probably would have given them removable caps later on in the BCA line, but not so much during the early days.

My gosh, I would have paid the $4.75 just for the Henry Godwinn. Mattel needs to make a Godwinns two pack. Ive got the Henry and Phineas from that set. I believe it was a Shotgun series. To this day Im still surprised they put them in rebel flag shirts I never thought about that lol.. my first BCA fig was Undertaker from Series one. I always looked for Hardcore, The Godfather as well as Blue Blazer...never found them.

I was lucky to get the Blue Blazer figure since only one was released in each case of figures. I never opened it either and back in 2006 I sold it for $50 to a buddy of mine. I don't know if I short changed myself on that deal or not. I doubt I did since it was 2006 and BCA's were pretty much an after thought with the wave of RA's and AD tag sets and Classic Series figures out there to buy.

Let's just say you'd be very fortunate to receive $20 for one nowadays, so I think you settled on a very good amount back then. Closer to $10 is more realistic for 2010 prices, so I would look into buying one if I were anyone here interested in getting it.
Of course, all value would be lost if Mattel or Jakks were to sign Owen sometime in the future.
I would love to know if anyone has a signed Blazer figure with a COA or picture of Owen autographing one.

I could be wrong Chicago, but didn't the Blazer figure come out AFTER Owen had already died?? Because that was the only reason why I picked up a Blazer figure and kept it MOC, cause Owen had already died at the ppv.

No, it was available at least two weeks before Owen died.
Since the series was exclusive to Wal-Mart stores and few shipments were sent out at first, collectors were having a difficult time locating Blazer and the rest of the figures from DTA Tour Series 2. Then, when Owen unexpectedly died, it became a highly-sought after collector's item and skyrocketed in value on the secondary market.
Blazer, in particular, was going for $15-20 after the initial release, but then prices jumped to around $50 shortly after his death. The timing was eerie, but it was just a coincidence since the figure had been reported on back in early May 1999.

Owen Hart The Blue Blazer That figure is potentially the rarest signed wrestling figure around, especially for Jakks. I'm sure less than 50 got signed

Oh, absolutely; I doubt there are more than 25 in existence.
I'm not certain about the first week, but I know for sure that this series, especially the Blazer, was found as early as the second week of May 1999. That means there would have been about two weeks for people to find them and track down Owen for an autograph; if you think of it like that, there probably isn't even 10 in the world.
Back in mid-March 1999, someone at AFR relayed information on upcoming Jakks figures from a "reliable" source within which states that DTA Tour Series 2 was to be scheduled for a March 1999 release (if this was true). Obviously, it must have been delayed until May for whatever reason, so I think that would rule out any conspiracies on the release date lol.

I honestly didn't know that it came out before he passed on. My buddy saw it at a Walmart in June of '99 and bought it for me since it was the only one there.
So did Jakks stop releasing the Blazer figure in those sets eventually after the incident at Over The Edge??

As far as I know, additional shipments were sent out following Owen's death due to the increased popularity of the series. There were no bans or recalls on the figure like there would be Al Snow's Road Rage figure months later.
Eventually, it became easier to find the figure after a few weeks of scalpers cleaning out the pegs, but by no means was the figure ever cut off despite all of the media's coverage.

The one walmart in NJ did some stupid S**t with the blue blazer fig. the manager took them to his office and if you wanted one you had to have someone page him and he'd sell you one and only one. I managed to get my G/F at the time to get another one so i could have one to open and one to keep MOC

Chicago, I don't think that killing a woman, cutting off her head and carrying it around as we all yell "Head Head Head" is stupid... cause that's what Al Snow really did, right?? haha

My favorite part of the story is when the Sleepy Hollow figures were made a short time after all that happened and nothing was ever said about them.
I'm convinced it was a double standard.

Wrestling has always gotten a bad rep when it comes to things. It's sad but true. There are so many other toys out there that are way worse than Al Snow and the head. But some lady had to have her 15 minutes of fame. She probably hated wrestling to begin with too, because if she would have watched the product and understood what Al Snow was doing with the Head then I am sure nothing would have happened.

Nice to know this set actually exists. I just came across this on eBay, but I have the feeling that I've seen it before and just couldn't remember it. It's basically a re-release of all four figures from Superstars Series 8, and these kind of sets are distributed mainly to Big Lots/BJ's/Sam's Club stores. Also, if they are going to do this anyway, why not just release them in a regular, rectangular four-figure boxed set? This seems a little out of the way to me.

Man, that is so cool though! If nobody knew, they would think it was just regular carding with four small figures of that series 8 line. Imagine how big that is then hanging on the rack at stores haha That's freaking insane!!

Definitely, which is why I would never want to pay shipping for it lol. There was this set, too, of the KOTR Break Down: In Your House figures.
