I'm getting into BCA Collecting recently. For the last few months or so. I've already picked up several and have been using your checklist primarily, I found your blog through google and just noticed your started this thread as well. So thanks for the check list. I noticed that this two pack wasn't on it actually. It's listed under the Grudge Match series on King Of the Ring cards but not on the Wrestlemania XV card. The package is in crap shape, but I got it in a Lot off ebay.

Yeah, it's a variation I've been meaning to add, but I wanted to do some more research on it before I did. The figures are exactly the same. Listed & Unlisted (for now):

That's the first thing I've come across that wasn't on your list which is beyond impressive and probably the most helpful thing for me so far in collecting. Your blogpost about the rare backlash x-pac has me on the hunt. It really is that rare. I'm getting into BCA Collecting recently. For the last few months or so. Your blogpost about the rare backlash x-pac has me on the hunt. It really is that rare. It must have been made fewer than the rest. I don't have a case breakdown, but that X-Pac strikes me as a one-per-case figure at the very least. Here's another variation I'm unsure of, but I might add to the checklist anyway. It's the lone Backlash X-Pac in street gear, except this version comes with an older shirt design. Was there tampering involved? I don't think so. In fact, I'm pretty sure these were two separate listings I found (several years ago) on eBay. The top and bottom two photos are dated about six months apart.

Which series is the Stone Cold Steve Austin with the “Other Side Jackass” tee on? I helped sell one at Wrestlecon, which is the first time I’ve ever seen it.

The front is a skull with “SC” carved into the forehead. If you go to eBay and search “Stone Cold Jackass” it pops up.

By the way, I really like all of the boxed set suggestions thus far, especially for PPVs and the NWA idea (which, unfortunately, would have had no chance of survival). Others that I would have liked to have seen: 1. WrestleMania XIV "DX Raided" (to differentiate from the other one; also, red instead of yellow for the packaging) 4-pack - Stone Cold Steve Austin (Superstars 4/5 re-release with Austin 3:16 vest) - Shawn Michaels (like the DTA Tour 1 figure, but with added detail) - "Iron" Mike Tyson (DX t-shirt with black jeans) - Vince McMahon (repaint RSC1 figure) Sorry to bring up something from so long ago, but something old/new came to light. You had mentioned how much you would have wanted to see a Mike Tyson figure at some point in the line and that a box set would have been a good way to release it. I've been buying up Action Figure Digests to try and come up with a complete set of magazines. I'll have to doublecheck the magazine number/page, but I saved a passage from one of the news sections from 1998. My guess is that whatever this was was either scrapped altogether or became the Grudge Match series with much more lackluster names compared to Tyson and Austin (no offence, Taka and Brian Christopher)

Hey guys. Just registered to the forum to post in this thread.
So I have a question regarding the Bret and Owen 2 pack. I've been considering swapping the top and bottom of 2 Bret figures to make a black on black Bret. Naturally that means I'd have the parts left to also make a pink on pink which got me thinking; what would that look like in comparison to the official pink on pink Bret? I can't find any clear pictures online to form a good comparison. It looks like the official pink/pink Bret has more white on the sides of the legs but I'm not sure. I'd love to see some pics if anyone has done this.
Also, how does the Owen from this set differ from the standard releases?

Yes that's the one. What makes that Bret unique from a hybrid of the series 1 and 2 releases put together? And has anyone made an all black and all pink Bret by combing the series 1 and 2 figures?

Which series is the Stone Cold Steve Austin with the “Other Side Jackass” tee on? I helped sell one at Wrestlecon, which is the first time I’ve ever seen it. That would be the Wizard/ToyFare Magazine Exclusive figure. It was released in March of 1999 and limited to 8,000 pieces. By the way, I really like all of the boxed set suggestions thus far, especially for PPVs and the NWA idea (which, unfortunately, would have had no chance of survival). Others that I would have liked to have seen: 1. My guess is that whatever this was was either scrapped altogether or became the Grudge Match series with much more lackluster names compared to Tyson and Austin (no offence, Taka and Brian Christopher) As long as the subject is BCA figures, I'm cool with anything new or old being discussed. No worries. I think I've seen this blurb before, but I couldn't place it for the life of me. If you figure out the number, let me know and I'll check if I have it too. I knew they were originally supposed to be called Attack Packs and were once thought to be exclusive to certain stores. They ended up being made available everywhere but in "limited quantities." Austin/HBK was always going to be first. Taka/Brian Christopher in the release schedule dates back to at least mid February 1998, so I don't think it was meant as a replacement for Austin/Tyson. If anything, Mero/Butterbean and Vader/Goldust were rumored Attack Packs for 1998 which never materialized. Mero was eventually paired with Blackman, as was Vader with Mark Henry, but I think it's certainly possible that the set of HHH/Owen re-releases was a last minute replacement for something else. I just got back from vacation, but I'll try and pull out these figures and post a few comparison pics for you later tonight. As for Owen, he has a unique Slammy Awards attire plus a white cast painted on his left wrist (all the same parts, just repainted). Much like the all-pink Bret, it was never released like that anywhere else.

Here's a look at the Superstars Series 1 figure and the 2-Pack Exclusive figure. The trunks are not identical. Edit: Here's Superstars Series 2.

Thanks for posting that. Then I'm safe to make custom black/black and pink/pink combinations and can still go after the two pack release since it will be unique.
On a side note I always loved the BCA line and often cited it as the greatest line of wrestling figures ever produced. Sure the new figures may look more accurate but from a mass production standpoint nothing could ever top the BCA's. They were lightyear's ahead of what preceded them and they were more affordable than anything else on the market in the realm of licensed toys.
I'll post a proper introduction and some photos in the near future.

Ok so here it goes.
I'm probably older than most of the users here. I'm old enough that I was playing with WWF LJN's when they were still stocked on store shelves. In fact, one of my first memories is receiving the LJN Sling 'Em Fling 'Em Wrestling Ring for Christmas of either '86 or '87. Based on the terrible condition of my LJN's it's clear that I had a blast with them.
When the Hasbro's came along my parents were ticked. They were convinced that the WWF changed the scale of their figures so that parents would have to buy all of the same characters over again. That said, I did have a small handful of Hasbro's but by that point TMNT and Batman had stolen the thunder and monopolized my Christmas list.
My family didn't have cable growing up and by the fall of '93 Superstars and Wrestling Challenge were clearly 2nd rate shows compared to the flagship Monday Night Raw which I couldn't watch. By early '94 I quit watching altogether as a result.
Then in 1997 a friend of mine across the street began taping Raw and rewatching it with me on Tuesday afternoons after school. He also frequently rented PPV tapes. Before long I was hooked. In fall of '97 we went to a Toys R Us and for the first time in years I began stocking up on wrestling figures. Superstars Series 5 must've just hit at that point. My first buys included Sycho Sid (black), Ken Shamrock, Series 4 HHH, and the Toys R Us exclusive Champions 4 pack with Owen, Bulldog, Rocky, and Undertaker.
I was blown away because for the first time in my life I could actually stage matches with articulated wrestling figures. Over the next few years I accumulated about 30 BCA's; far fewer than most of you here, but a healthy collection for someone that was supposed to be done with toys. I began buying these at age 13 and stayed with it until the TTL figures. Back in those early days of the internet I loved looking at the work of customizers and browsing the scalping websites for hard to find figures.
When I hit 17 I moved on to other pursuits and sold most of my BCA line on eBay while they still commanded healthy prices. I also liquidated my WCW Toybiz and Hasbro's at the same time. Years later I began to recognize the BCA line as the greatest wrestling figure assortment ever produced. They were plentiful, affordable, well distributed, and I loved that Jakks provided all of the details previous licensees missed such as folding chairs and multiple title belts.
After years of dreaming about it, I've finally begun to reacquire BCA's. I now consider those carefree late 90's days some of the finest of my life, and BCA'S played a role in them.

Anyone know of protective cases for MOC BCA figures? Any input would be appreciated.

Is the HBK from the Shawn/Vader 2 pack any different than the regular Series 1 HBK?

Is the HBK from the Shawn/Vader 2 pack any different than the regular Series 1 HBK? No, it should be exactly the same as Superstars Series 2. Vader is a darker shade of maroon, or at least that's how mine looked next to Series 2/Series 4 Vader.

I've got a couple of Vader's. One is from Series 2 and the other Series 4. The only difference I can see is that the Series 4 has a peg hole in his foot whereas the first release doesn't. I've seen some photos where the Vader is more red than maroon. Is that just a variant? If so, from which series?

The one I was referring to with the darker shade of maroon is in the Superstars Series 2-Pack with Shawn Michaels. Bright red Vader comes from Live Wire Series 1 - my personal favorite.
