I was reading through some of those old “rumored” lineup sites. Man I hate reading them because, even though I know most of it is bunk, it still got my imagination going. I noticed PMS was on the set for 2Tuff series 5. If that were even to come to fruition, made me wonder what the set would have been. Maybe Terri and Jackie, Jackie and Ryan Shamrock....Meat and Terri? Lol. We will never know. Were you looking at this Figure Zone report from January 1999? If so, I think it was meant for Terri and Jackie. I don't believe for a second that all of those were legitimate names for Jakks at that time. Wishful thinking is the best way to summarize that list.

Yep that is it! Man I’d have loved to see all these! Honestly, I still wanted more BCAs when TTL came along. They had that simple look that wa adjust enough for a little kid in the 90s lol. Plus I was a HUGE Terri fan. I always thought that Marlena face was probably the best BCA face ever. I swore it was a real scam when I was a kiddo 😂 Seeing the grapple gear series makes me wonder if it was the TTL Titan Tron they produced later on. The Tron and ramp were listed so it just gets me curious. Plus Brisco and Patterson...if only they’d have kept doing BCAs for another year!!!

The Tron and ramp were listed so it just gets me curious. Plus Brisco and Patterson...if only they’d have kept doing BCAs for another year!!! Oh, of course. I'd have gladly sacrificed the first run TTL figures for more BCA in late 1999/early 2000, but it was probably best to just get it over with since Jakks transitioning to TTL full time was an inevitability. The worst part of it all was not that BCA became an afterthought, but starting over again with TTL slowed down the process of getting new characters into either line. Jakks had to focus on only the most popular names (Austin, Rock, Undertaker, Kane, Mankind, DX etc.) in order to get the ball rolling, and that didn't leave many slots in the lineups for supporting characters. I don't know if we ever would've seen The Stooges or P.M.S., but I have to think managers and personnel figures stood a far greater chance when there were new BCA series coming out each month. As for the Titan Tron Playset, here is a look back at the original prototype from Toy Fair 1999. This was shown mere weeks after those rumored lineups appeared online. I doubt it would have been possible to do the full playset as part of a Grapple Gear pack, nor do I think this would have been ready in time for the next wave of Grapple Gear. Was it always intended to be released with new figures? That I do not know, but I don't see how BCA could have continued without being altered in some way (chips planted in their feet) to accommodate the new technology.

What do these five BCA figures have in common? Think for a second before scrolling past the photo below. I'll be mightily impressed if anyone makes the connection. If you guessed that all have something to do with the Stone Cold Steve Austin figure in the No Chance 3-Pack, you're right on the money. As I was looking through my collection this past weekend, I was greeted by that unusual variation of Austin which utilizes parts from all five figures. Here is a closer look at the No Chance Austin figure (which was exclusive to KB Toys stores in 1999): Here is where the five figures mentioned above come into play. I think it goes without saying that this is the oddest assortment of parts ever used for a BCA Austin figure. Head: Stone Cold Steve Austin from the Off The Mat 4-Pack Torso: Ultimate Warrior from Superstars Series 2 Arms: Owen Hart from Superstars Series 2 Crotch: Shawn Michaels from Slammers Series 2 Legs: Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw from Superstars Series 4 I'd love to know the thought process behind combining all of those parts to make one run-of-the-mill Austin figure, but then again the insanity of it all is better left unsaid.

This unpainted pads always irked me as a kid. Seriously some of the oddest work I’ve seen on a figure. How easy would it have been to paint them or to just use different arms?

I like to imagine Austin actually wearing this out to the ring. Would the casual fans have batted an eye at that getup? Maybe Jakks knew something about his private wardrobe that we'll never know.
Here is my most recent BCA figure pickup from eBay: a less common variation of the Road Rage Series Hardcore Holly. It features 2 Tuff Series 2 New Age Outlaws arms with black wrist tape and Superstars Series 6 Owen Hart legs with white boots: As you can see from the back of the card, Road Rage Holly was originally intended to have Superstars Series 6 HHH arms with black wrist tape and Superstars Series 6 Owen Hart legs with black boots. This version does exist (see: eBay seller pic below), although I believe the most common version you'll find contains NAO arms and Superstars Series 1 Razor Ramon legs with black boots. Here are pics of my other Road Rage Holly figures I've shown in the past with the more common variation: Credit eBay seller napthyme for this pic of the Road Rage Holly figure which matches the prototype: And because it's timely, here is a re-post of the higher quality prototype image taken from the old Jakks site/ this post:

ChicagoI think I like the white boots better. But I like the Triple H arms over the Outlaws arms.

Chicago I think I like the white boots better. But I like the Triple H arms over the Outlaws arms. Yeah, I think Holly wore white boots most of the time so it just seems right for him. I agree about the HHH arms, although I do like them for Road Dogg and Billy Gunn. The only combo of HHH arms/Owen legs with white boots in that attire that I can think of would be the Holly from the Grudge Match 2-Pack with Al Snow. Here's an old pic of mine:

It's a great piece and is 100% legit. Would've been released by Jakks in a Ministry of Darkness BCA boxed set as a Walmart exclusive but it never came to pass. We talked a little bit about it last November. I'd love to know if a Faarooq sculpt exists.

Transaction was as smooth as smooth can be. Just locked down a fully boxed Championship Title set (the first one, with Undertaker, Rocky, Bulldog, and Owen) and a fully boxed Buried Alive set. $40 for the pair.

Share pics if you can. I'll always remember getting the first belt set for Christmas 1997. A couple of things jumped out at me about the belt set, neither of which really gave me any kind of upset. First off, I've long been familiar with this set containing a misspelling of the word "European" beneath Davey Boy, which seems to be corrected here. Fair enough. I didn't notice until after money and goods had been exchanged that Rocky here is in his blue gear rather than the black associated with this set. If I'd paid any more than retail for it I might be a bit peeved, but the entrance gear is in tact, as are all the belts, and the box is in perfectly fine shape otherwise for display. Add all that to the fact that I most associate Rocky with the blue anyway, and I'm good as gold here. This bad boy is pristine. It was actually handed to me bubble wrapped, and if it weren't 21 years old, it could have come off the shelf today. As my brother astutely noted - I paid five bucks apiece for eight guys that should run no greater than 5 bucks apiece. I never had either of these sets as a kid, which has been the whole point of me chasing the old BCA stuff to begin with, so I'm one happy camper here tonight.

Super jealous! I didn’t have the champions set but I had Buried Alive. I always like the Executioner because it’s such an obscure character to produce. Kind of like the Jackyl or Clarence Mason. They weren’t major stars but it’s cool they were made.
I sold all 100+ of my BCAs years ago. I’d love to pick them back up again. And, as you stated, they aren’t really worth more than $5. I’d love to find a big lot of them!

That sucks about Maivia. There are always going to be sellers who either don't know or don't care that their set has been tampered with. Unfortunately, it seems to happen a lot with this one. Either the belts are missing, Rocky's gear is missing, or the figures have been swapped. To my knowledge, there are no known variations besides the "Europeam Champion" packaging error and the different shades of gold (light/dark) in the belt plates.
Buried Alive was a special set for its time and it's still collectible to this day. The Executioner head, torso and crotch sculpts were never used again, I believe. We have it to thank for the excellent arms that were used on the Shotgun Saturday Night Series 1 LOD figures. I think the legs were the same as Superstars Series 4 Faarooq, though I could be wrong. Undertaker's entrance gear was exclusive to this set until the Bradlees Exclusive 2-Pack with Paul Bearer was released with it a year and a half later. The other accessories included were unique to this set, minus the urn, in the months before Grapple Gear became a thing.

For me, the hierarchy of that set goes belts, Rocky's entrance gimmick, Owen, Bulldog, then Rocky, and then Taker (only because I owned a few of him as a kid). It's still gonna look sharp as hell on my shelf, and to me, blue chipper Rocky always fit his Seahawks colors better. Buried Alive was always the thorn in my side. We didn't get a Target around here until maybe 1999/2000, so by the time they were finally part of the fabric around these parts, BCAs were practically on their way out, never mind finding a 2 to 3 year old set.

Haha I feel the same way about that Buried Alive set. I can still remember going onto the old WWF website and being in awe of those figures. I remember begging my parents to take me to a Target, but we also didn't have any Targets in New York yet -- at least, none near me.
