They have 2 tuff 4 listed with Val Venis/ Dlo I didn’t know about the changed line up and it must have been a Late change So cool to fall down that way back machine rabbit hole Yeah, that was the plan before D'Lo got switched over to a singles release in the Breakdown series. Oddly enough, the Billy Gunn figure that found its way to that set with Val was more than likely the one we were supposed to get in Superstars Series 8, but it was sent packing by the first one-sleeve, non-Slammers Kane. Val had his turn getting bumped from a 2 Tuff set in the next wave; he was scheduled for Series 5 with Godfather, but both were replaced by Austin and Rock. |

Got my first BCA in today, and holy crap this is an incredible figure. Arrived in fantastic condition too! Congrats! It's much bigger than your average BCA so I wouldn't get too used to them being that size. I've always felt it has a very strong likeness and is one of the more impressive full-figure sculpts. I would personally rank it as one of the best overall figures Jakks did during that time. The proportions are ridiculously exaggerated, but if you can overlook all of that, it's everything a larger-than-life character should be in action figure form. I can see why some would rather it be an actual BCA figure roughly the same size as Kane and Undertaker, but I'd argue guys like Kane and Undertaker should have subsequently been brought UP to Paul Wight's dimensions to make it fair. Not doing that for two of the biggest names of that era was a much greater disservice than making Paul Wight the giant he absolutely should be. |

Thanks mate, don’t worry I know they ain’t all as big as this one. I agree too, the Kane & Taker should have been bigger, I always think that Takers are too small and Kane is too skinny. If you compare this Show, to the one in the later Backlash series in ‘03, there’s no comparison for me. This one is quite literally head and shoulders above it. I think that this could possible be one of Jakks best figures, and I’ve only had it a few hours 😆 |

Post came with a late delivery today! A friend on Twitter saw I was starting a collection and very kindly offered to send me these. I had no idea Hardcore Holly was coming too so I'm glad I hadn't bought that one as it was on my list.  |

Scott! Great pickups! I see the ‘99 bug has sunk its teeth into you lol. Here’s one of my recent purchases from eBay. Backlash Series 3 Billy Gunn, with the Kurt Angle body (notice the bunched up straps around the waist).       Here are some pics of it next to Legends 12 Billy Gunn.     The soft goods shirt is a tight fit on the BCA because of the larger, rubbery biceps. If you fiddle with the pants long enough, they do fit and don’t look half bad on New BCA legs. Haven’t attempted original BCA Billy Gunn legs yet, but I doubt they look as good as this.   My main motivation for getting it (besides adding to my collection) was so that I could take pics of my BCA Billy Gunn figures together. Only ones not shown are doubles and my childhood 2 Tuff 4 Billy Gunn that I painted to look like Mikey Whipwreck. Felt incomplete to take pics of them all without the New BCA figure. My favorite is Fully Loaded Series 1. The colors remind me of DX, and I just love the bright color attires he wore. I’m all about greens, blues, pinks, and yellows for Billy Gunn figures. Ringside used to make a multi-purpose defender that was kind of big for Series 1 and 2 but better than nothing. They haven’t stocked it in ages, though. I've been keeping an eye out ever since, but haven't seen another one. I wish I had seen this while it was up.  |

This is definitely something I’ll keep an eye out for now that you mentioned it. I’d like to think it’s not just a one-off and there are others out there. This post got me to thinking about another prototype photo I stumbled across last Thursday when I shared the image of the S.T.O.M.P. Series 2 shark cage. It's a nice clear shot of 2 Tuff Series 1 Goldust and Marlena from before the figures were released:  Here is what the final product looks like for comparison:  Even though the prototype is basically a Signature Series 1 Goldust figure from the neck down, I've got to say that I like the look of it better than the final figure. I mean, don't get me wrong, the figure we received is an exceptional repaint (and the only one of his BCA figures with "Goldust" printed on its back), but it seems... incomplete to me. Maybe because the hair wasn't painted properly on the one side of his head? I don't know. Which do you guys prefer? The prototype or the final product? |

By the way, I found a pic of Goldust (seems to be on a t-shirt) with the Signature Series/Best of 97/Break Down and Ripped & Ruthless facepaint design. I'm guessing Jakks based it on this (or another pic from the same photoshoot).  |

Apologies if this has already been asked, but how did everyone here get started with BCA figures?
Were you there for the beginning of the line? Who was your first figure and what was the context when you acquired it? What was the first match you ever played out with your first figures?
If you guys don't mind I'd like to share my first experience with BCA figs =). Apologies in advance, I'm diggin' deep into the memory banks with this post.
For me, I was 11 years old and I really never expected to get into wrestling figures at all. It was Christmas 1997, and my sister and I were lucky enough to have been given some money from my grandmother. Our entire family and some extended family stayed at my grandmother's place on Christmas Eve, and all opened gifts together the next morning.
During the afternoon Chistmas day, my grandmother asked my sister and I if we wanted to go to K-Mart nearby to buy some toys. Spoiled as hell, I know. Not knowing exactly what I was going to get maybe other than a huge Lego set, we headed out to the store.
I'll never forget doing down what seemed like an endless downward escalator to reach the toy section in the back corner of the basement of this K-Mart. Running over to the toy section while leaving my grandma and sister behind, I entered an aisle first that I was in complete awe of. Micro Machines as far as the eye could see, Ninja Turtles, Toybiz Marvel figures from X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and more.
There were EXO Squad toys, Kenner Star Wars, Toybiz Batman, and hoards of what are now considered classic Lego sets like Pirate, Exploriens, Wild West, Town, Aquanauts and Castle sets.
Racing through the aisle, frantically scanning, in complete sensory overload, I turn a corner to the next aisle and BAM! Directly in my crosshairs were the most beautiful, iconic packages I had ever seen in an action figure in my life. Jakks Pacific's Bone Crunching Action figures. The blue colored back carding pulled me right in.
I had $100 to spend, I had practically no idea who any of these guys were, but I reach for a Rocky Maivia, a Stone Cole Steve Austin, and kneel down to grab a blue and white Monster Ring. I was over the moon and I never looked back. I didn't even realize that this was already wave 5 in the set and that I had missed out on so many Superstars prior.
We headed back to my grandmother's place and I must have played with those two figures for hours until it was dark. My next pickups after that (with the same Christmas money lol), were the Godwinns and Headbangers. MY WWF was starting to take shape and it brought me many more months and years of collecting. It was a magical time and it catapulted my interest in watching more wrestling after that. Thinking back, it's odd that I started collecting the toys before I had really ever watched the product.
