Just saw about 5 different Austin figures, Ringside Collection Vince, and the Al Snow/Hardcore Holly 2 Tuff pack at a comic shop. All were still on card, for $5.99 each.
Almost bought them all, not because I wanted them, but for pure nostalgia purposes lol.

I would've bought Snow/Holly for that price, and maybe one or two Austin figures depending on which ones were for sale. Something I would be ashamed to purchase under any circumstances is this WrestleMania XIV boxed set (currently on eBay): Truly one of the worst listings that I have ever seen for BCA figures.

Well I did think about the Snow/Holly 2 pack, but the the package had some wear and the bubble was turning yellow. Besides, I was already buying something else and it was our first stop. Didn't wanna spend to much and then come across something else later in the night. And its a good thing I didn't, cause I scored a ton of Clearance Stackdown stuff at WalMart later.

With all of this talk about Jakks and WWE getting the band back together, I thought it would be a good opportunity to look back at a few examples of news that broke on that same day (September 15th) during the BCA era. This That Day in BCA History: September 15 19981999This was a significant set to me, since it seemed like they really took a major leap forward in quality with this series. The body styles and head sculpts looked way better than the BCA figures coming out until this point, in my opinion. There were still some gems in the line before this series, and some of my favorites, but here was were I could start to tell better things were on the horizon.

Man I loved how they (jakks) predicted the outsiders before they were the outsiders...meaning the very rare diesel and razor 2 pack!!

That's a perfect description of Superstars Series 6. Here is what I wrote about the set when I reviewed all of the Superstars Series figures on my blog back in 2012:

When I was younger BCA's were my life. I'd get home from school and would pull out all my figures and start a show. Weekends were no different, X-Pac was and still is my favorite. I remember how happy I was when I found his Livewire 2 figure during an out of town trip. Later I picked up his DTA Tour 3 figure. I always wished I would go to the store and find a figure of him in his Summerslam 99 attire (which was my favorite attire of his). When I got older I was browsing eBay one day and came across a bca of him in that attire. I thought it was custom mainly because it had a lot of wear & tear. It wasn't until a couple of years later that I found wfigs, this thread and found out it was an officially released figure in the Backlash Super Stars Orange card series. I looked and looked and some time later one popped up on eBay. It went down to the last second but I won the figure, paid $40 shipped for it. Last night I had the opportunity to meet the man himself. When I 1st got my tickets to the show I considered taking my E33 figure, but really there was no doubt in my mind which figure of his I wanted to get signed. I was the 1st one in line got the figure signed, along with a couple of other items. He even gave me the time to talk with him for about 5 or 10 minutes, really cool.

The fact that it revolves around one of the hardest to find BCA figures, Backlash Superstars Series 2 X-Pac, makes me like it even more. I got mine on eBay for $18 shipped back in February 2014, and I never regretted it for a second. I love the attire choice as well. If you haven't yet, you really should try and get a hold of Backlash Superstars Series 2 Kane for the matching SummerSlam 1999 set. I like to think that Jakks would have made a 2 Tuff Series 2-Pack out of those two repaints had TTL figures not become the top priority in the year 2000. Backlash Superstars Series 2 X-Pac and Kane were exclusive to KB Toys and Family Dollar department stores in November 2000.

Before there was an Elite Series 39 Sycho Sid, there were BCA figures of "The Master and Ruler of the World" made by Jakks in 1997. Sycho Sid had four BCA figures in all. 1. Superstars Series 3 (Debut figure in blue gear) (Released February 1997) 2. Superstars Series 5 (Series 3 repaint in black gear) (Released October 1997) 3. Limited Edition Superstars Twin Pak with Series 3 British Bulldog (Series 3 re-release) (1 of 10,000) (Released October 1997) 4. Special Edition Raw Is War (#1) 4-Pack Exclusive (Series 5 repaint with dark purple trunks) (Released October 1997) Similarly, both Godfather and British Bulldog were made in the BCA line more than once by Jakks in the late 1990s. British Bulldog had five BCA figures in all. 1. Superstars Series 3 (Debut figure in white gear) (Released February 1997) 2. Limited Edition Superstars Twin Pak with Series 3 Sycho Sid (Series 3 re-release) (1 of 10,000) (Released October 1997) 3. Championship Title Series (#1) 4-Pack (Toys"R"Us Exclusive) (Series 3 repaint in red/blue gear with European Championship belt) (Released October 1997) 4. Best of '97 Series 1 (Toys"R"Us Exclusive) (CTS1 re-release with removable pleather Hart Foundation vest) (Released December 1997) 5. Special Edition Series 1 (KB Toys Exclusive) (CTS1 re-release) (Released March 1998) Godfather had two BCA figures in all. 1. Road Rage Series (Debut figure with orange pants/removable purple vest, purple hat, gold cane, and wheelbarrow) (Released August 1999) 2. DTA Tour Series 3 (Walmart Exclusive) (Road Rage Series re-release with breakaway table) (Released August 1999)

Dying for Jakks to make BCA again with their new contract with WWE. Would love a legends series BCA. Hillbilly Jim, Koko B Ware, Ric Flair, you could go on and on. SO many superstars never had a BCA figure. Much like Figures toy company releasing Batman 1966 figures for the MUCH older fan out there I believe there is a fanbase for our old school BCA figures too.

I would say there is a small but growing fan base of BCA collectors on this site, but nowhere near enough to support even one $15-20 RSC Internet Exclusive, let alone an entire new line. It's the very definition of wishful thinking. For all intents and purposes, the original BCA figures as we knew and loved them died in 1999 with the advent of Titan Tron Live and later Real Scan technology. Not even the Backlash line or new BCA style of the early 2000s could save it, and I'm okay with that.

I would say though there were more BCA collectors than there were Mego collectors today. The Mego guys are OLD. Alot have died off. There are more of a fanbase who are alive that were into the WWE figures in 1998 etc. So yes I think there are more than Mego collectors. Yet, Mego gets a re release. And it is supported. I think you are way off Chicago.

I think you are way off Chicago. There were a lot of wrestling fans who were exposed to Jakks products in the late 1990s, I'll give you that. But I can't honestly say that I believe a significant number will drop what they're doing/collecting now to return to this niche style of figures. I would think that the overwhelming majority of those people have left the hobby altogether, and the few that remain from 15-20 years ago are lapping up near everything that Mattel offers them today, as they should. Mattel makes great figures and that is what Attitude era collectors want right now. If anyone deserves a revival of their favorite figure line, it's the Hasbro collectors. Believe me, I would love nothing more than for you to prove me wrong. I'll take that egg on my face any day of the week. Maybe it's the eternal pessimist in me, but I don't think Jakks will ever realize that their past success is the key to their future success with the WWE brand.

I think that if people were given the option of new guys in the WWE being made into BCA style or TTL style, the BCA style would win over all.
It's crazy how this BCA thread isn't tacked yet at the top of the Jakks section. It has had life now for like what?? Four years or so??

I would say that the signed BCA figures in your collection are worth at least two to three times more than what you initially paid for them. The boxed sets and early Superstars Series figures, especially the signed Razor/Diesel 2-pack, are currently the most valuable BCA figure-related items in your possession. Personally, I love the obscure BCA figure series that you chose to have signed (Best of '97, DTA Tour, Backlash, etc.), but I think most collectors would overlook those in favor of Superstars Series 1 and 2. Whatever you do, just make sure to store them properly so that the signatures don't smudge or wear off. A good clear signature on a nice and crisp card will make all the difference if/when the time comes to part with them. Your collection is truthfully a one of a kind and I would hate to see it neglected in any way.

Thanks for your feedback, it is difficult to keep up on the signatures deteriorating, i keep them out of the light and have a clear covering placed over the ones that are more susceptable to dust, I obv do what I can to protect them. Worst case, I get them re-signed, like Y2Js for some reason faded so badly, I just wiped it off & had him re-sign it earlier this year. In the event I did sell them, I wouldnt flood the market (on eBay), Id probably list them in waves

They looked awful and for some reason I just found difficult to play with. Now I did start collecting them after they got the real scan faces, but playing with them was still not an option.
