those are some of the best bca customs ive seen, awesome job Thanks. I've got more in the planning stages. I'm hoping for one (or all?!?) of Al Snow's failed gimmicks in mid-90s WWF. I can't even imagine how tough it must be for you to decide between Avatar and Shinobi. Leif Cassidy it is then! But seriously, The New Rockers would be welcomed into my BCA collection.

The New Rockers, now that's a good idea to add to the custom list.

Excellent work, ellisd! I watched the 1996 King of the Ring yesterday and thought to myself, "I really wish there were more BCA Jake Roberts customs." I love everything about it, and for my money there's no better base to use than the Backlash Series 5 Al Snow figure. Hot Rod really looks exceptional and about as good as it gets using those parts. Same for Sergeant Slaughter and The Undertaker. There's something about Golden Age WWF BCA customs that genuinely excites me, and of course your work impresses me to no end. Please keep doing what you do. I can't speak for anyone else, but it's fun for me to live vicariously through your talents. Thanks, I knew you would enjoy seeing some of these. I'm surprised how well the Al Snow head works for Jake after modding it a little. It doesn't look just like Jake, but works for a pre-real scan look. I've got more in the works, just gotta get the right mix of parts. You may have already answered this, but what paint do you use on your BCAs to get the paint so smooth? Those are incredible! Awesome idea on using Backlund for DiBiase!

I can't believe that in just a few short hours I'll be joining the 27 club. No, not that 27 Club, but today is my 27th birthday! The only club I hope to belong to in the near future is the one where you share scans of old toy magazines with your peers and reminisce about the good ol' days. I've dug up a few issues of Lee's, so let's take a trip back to late summer/early fall 1998 and see what Jakks had in store for us. P.S. Happy birthday to fellow WF members "The Gothic Superstar" Ronin, @apwekzor, @avmufc, @bboy, @camkruse81, @camtheone, @dafirastarta1, @eltaker, Venom_Spewer, hulk86, @jeffwhaley06, @jeje0890, marklud, @mikeblizered, @murrayyyyy, @ptcollector, r1ch1e, @rifismint, @sirjoseole, @thecameron81, @themasterelite, @tmillhone, @weirdchris25, and wyleecyotee! Its not that I would want it. I was basing it off of the way Jakks chose to release WWF. Check out the first few series of WWF BCA and you'll see why Yes, for added realism. There were 13 new figures released by Jakks out of a possible 18 in the three original Superstars Series assortments; make that a total of 20 if you include the Diesel and Goldust re-releases from the later shipments of Superstars Series 3. 3Lephant (Naptown Icon) is actually holding back a spot in his lineup for Series 3, which I might give to Johnny B. Badd (a la Series 1 Razor/Diesel) or one of the Cruiserweights (Eddy Guerrero, Rey Mysterio Jr, Dean Malenko - take your pick). I'm not as well-versed on WCW talent as I am with the WWF roster from that time period, but your selections seem fine to me. Anyone with knowledge of the '95-'96 WCW roster care to comment? Should the nWo have made it in by Series 3 (Released February 1997)? Just curious, why was Diesel and Goldust re-released in Series 3 but not Razor Ramon?? And was Diesel and Goldust hard to find?? In Canada, I remember seeing Series 3 (Actually, I remember seeing Series 2 as well, but never Series 1, I am not sure if it even came to Canada) but with the Series 3 set I saw, all I remember seeing was Bret, HBK, Ahmed, Bulldog, Sid and Mankind. Never Diesel or Goldust.

Most of the reports I've read on the Internet suggest these figures could be found at Toys"R"Us, Target, and KB Toys stores. No word on if any of these sightings took place in Canada. Edit: Add Ames to the list as well. Also in those final shipments, the packaging was changed from the die-cut cards to a rectangular shape because the die-cut cards were easily damaged. Kudos to the Ringside Collectibles Figure Insider column for that bit of trivia, but let's get back to the re-releases. I couldn't begin to understand why Jakks would include those two, but it wouldn't be the last time they chose to re-release figures in later shipments. HHH (from Superstars Series 4) and Marc Mero (from the Triple Threat 3-pack) were added to cases of Best of '97 Series 2 in February 1998. The "Best of" assortments were exclusive to Toys"R"Us stores, by the way. Interestingly enough, I once read someone mistakenly report Yokozuna (in black and white) and a new Shawn Michaels (in black and silver) had been added to the Best of '97 Series 2 shipments, but this turned out to be false information. Way to get someone's hopes up, eh? Edit: Here's a nice clear MOC pic of Diesel and Goldust courtesy of eBay user toyaddictsannonymous in Canada.

Does anyone else remember the back carding to some shotgun Saturday night figures randomly having a picture of a mini wrestler with the weapons? I wanna say it was chainsaw Charlie. I can try and find pics, but I definitely remember this good on BCA packages back in 98

What did poor Phineas ever do to deserve this?

I picked up that Diesel on Mother's Day way back when at Target in 1997. As my dad was trying to get me to pick out flowers for my Mom, I convinced him to let me purchase that Diesel in addition to the flowers. And when we made it back home I didn't care about anything aside from adding that figure to my book bag of wrestling figures, which was also my regular school backpack. I brought Diesel on the bus and this kid asked if he could borrow him along with my Superstars Series 2 Vader. I obliged, unknowing that this kid was being transferred to a different school the next day. Being so mad as a 7 year old, a friend and I found some nail polish and vandalized the kid's former home, thinking it would send a message. It did not hah.. I didn't own another Diesel until I found a loose one on eBay for $12 shipped in 2003. His head broke off shortly after he arrived

Now I can't stop thinking about you living in a town where there are more discarded bottles of nail polish than, oh I don't know, rocks lol.

I loved it when I found a re-released Diesel in the stores. I remember him and Razor being difficult to find when the 1st line was released. I eventually got them both, but I always played pretty rough with my figures and Diesel's head ended up popping off....I think most of my figures ended up that way. Anyway, I remember being so happy to find this in stores; especially since he was no longer wrestling for WWF at that point.

So a while ago I saw that Ringside had this for sale.... so I had to buy it, even though they were asking like $50 for it. I didn't care. I never had it as a teenager and I always wanted it. Well, I have it now. It will forever stay MOC since I have no real reason to open it.

I have a question for the BCA experts, here: over the weekend I was on ebay looking for a BCA Stone Cold with a leg brace and I came across an auction for an Austin I hadn't seen before. It looked like a Superstar series 4 SCSA head on a Dan Severn body; is this a custom or a legit variant?
