I haven't had many bad experiences while going looking for figures, besides of course not finding what I was looking for which is natural most of the time.
Today however was a different story, I live in Westchester, NY and my closest TRU is the Bay Plaza TRU in the Bronx, so I went there after going to Best Buy to pick up Halo Reach, i go to TRU and automatically see that they added the TNA Legends of the Ring which was exciting, I picked up Sting cause I think the rest are god awful, then i see they also added the UFC Bring it On series which look pretty cool, but I will wait for the 8 pack though so i can save $15...
then after looking up in the caps I see FOUR UNOPENED BASIC WWE FIGURE BOXES... now i'm not exactly the tallest person in the world so I couldn't reach any of the boxes, I have been looking for Kelly Kelly and figured there was a chance it might be in 1 of those boxes, I used the help button in TRU near the price checker, and after 20 minutes someone finally comes over (with an attitude of course).
I ask them politely if it would be possible to get a ladder and allow me to look in the box because I have a feeling something I need is in there, the lady goes away for a few minutes, comes back and tells me "they're not allowed to open boxes that haven't been scanned in the system".
Of course I think it's BS considering the boxes all had scanning stickers on them, so I got angry stating that in the isle next to the Wrestling figures there are 6-7 Macfarlane boxes wide open on the caps, so how is it possible they can't open the boxes for me?
After the b*tch walked away i went searching for something I could step on to reach the boxes myself, because frankly she was being an ass and clearly could have gotten someone to help me. Bottom line is i didn't find anything I could stand on, i tried bringing a box of diapers over to the toy isle because they looked pretty sturdy but it didn't work (lol), so there the boxes sit, 4 unopened boxes sitting on the top of the cap and i'm left to wonder, what was in there...
anyone else ever have problems like this? i really don't think i was so unreasonable to get some help, especially if I was going to buy them and give them business they desperately needed considering how empty the store was.

She's full of it. There's no need to "Scan them in". They are already in the computer system WEEKS before they are shipped to the store.

They are generally just lazy. She just didnt feel like helping you. Next tim ask her for her name. I really hate TRU.
One time I went in there and asked them if they had figures in stock... this kid (who was a manager) told me that they have a siren that goes off in the back that tells them when they need to restock something. Complete lie.

Call, talk to a manager - or next time find a different employee man.
Sorry to hear about that.

They are already in the computer system WEEKS before they are shipped to the store. the items are in the computer but have to be scanned in for location puroses in the back, floor. once an item is off the truck, on the floor, or on the overheads then its scanned in. The items are not scanned in weeks before.

Sorry your TRU employees weren't very helpful. I love the employees at my TRU they are always very helpful, but on the bright side I doubt that they were Series 6..So you didn't miss Kelly. But it should have had the Series on the side of the boxes.

There is actually something to that scanning, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. I had it happen to me once before but they scanned it and I bought what I wanted. The rest went on the shelves. So long as there is room on the pegs for the rest of the case, you should be good to go.

Like PJ said, it probably wasn't Basic 6, most likely it was either Royal Rumble or Basic 5 depending on where you live, maybe the Wrestlemania Basic figures. Basic 6 has only started to show up at KMart and Walmart if I remember correctly.

I seen Mattel WWE boxes unopened at my local Walmart one night when they were stocking , and i go an ask an employee if i can see what was in them . The box said Elite series but not a number . She refused to because the pegs were full of Elite 4 already . I should of just opened them myself because alot of people wont help you for crap .
So to make a long story short I hid the Elite 4 that were on the pegs and a few days later Elite 5 popped up .

The few times I've caught a employee restocking stuff and there's been WWE boxes unopened they've been nothing but 100 % nice and let me go through the boxes and everything, Though I've never encountered boxes without someone opening them...sorry to hear about your bad experience.

That really sucks!! For me just being in the toy aisle already makes me nervous So of course the few times i'm brave enough to ask an employee 8 times outta 10 they are complete asses!! Sorry that happened to you! On a side note can I just say with absolutly NO offense meant I kinda died laughing at your story! These boxes are something you really really wanted to the piont that you would stand on diapers and the idea that your epic mission was ultimatlly ended simply because you just weren't tall enough to reach it!! Growing up my brother was always short and we (more so me) would joke about that all the time and your story brought me back! LOL

That reminds me of when CS 26 came out. I went into TRU in the morning on a stock day and saw Dr Death & Iron Sheik sitting on the shelf but no others. So I looked around and finally I looked up above the extra storage and someone had stacked them at the very top.
So I went and asked for some help and the lady called someone in the back to bring out a ladder. I went back to the isle and waited for like 15-20 minutes and nobody showed up. I'm pretty tall at 6'2 but it was still a bit high and the one I wanted (Bret Hart) was at the very bottom. So I stood on the edge of the shelf and slid the whole stack forward. Needless to say they all came falling down onto the floor but hey at least I got down the one I wanted.

Just open them yourself, always! LoL. Can't rely on anyone but yourself. Last time I was in TRU I saw 3 basic boxes up top. They just said WWE basic collection. Nothing else. There were 3 boxes. I didn't even ask. I couldn't really reach them but was able to get my hands on the bottom one and made all 3 come down. Some young kid who works there was giving me crap but I was just MAD nice to him and went on to pretty much ignore him lol. Found 2 cases of B5 and a RR. Not bad

TRU people are ALWAYS lazy. Usually whenever I ask them to look up something to see if they have anymore in the back, they always go "All we have is what's on the floor." without even looking up for me to see if it's true. I HATE lazy people like that. When I worked at KB Toys and someone asked me if they had a figure in the back, I'd always go look because that's how I would want to be treated....lazy employees suck.

There would be people asking for cases of Hotwheels or whatever be opened. If the shelves were full, we couldn't open the case.

Try to look for a manager. They will usually check for you especially if you go to the customer service desk.I usually have pretty good luck there but other then that i could give a crap and usually NEVER see cases up on top.

MAYBE they arent lazy.. and do know that there isnt any in the back.. i work retail.. and have for a long time.. when im at work , i can usually tell you how many thing are in our back room.. yeah , the store i work at isnt nearly as large as a TRU .. but i can still tell you if we have something or not... as for this.. yeah next time.. find an other employee... or ask for a manager.. i know every time i check out , im asked if i found everything ok... the one time i said no.. they tried to look for what i wanted...
