The players want the age restriction removed... which normally I was in favor of putting in the age restriction but...
with the mess that is college sports and the culture that is the NBA I think it's useless at this point. College sports aren't or really incorporated with academics at all and as we saw with Brandon Jennings they can just go overseas and play pro before the NBA. Even if they are forced to make it into a college for one year, academics are a no factor because the kids don't have to meet a regulated amount of credits per semester... it's per year. So they never even really focus on them.
Also, one year of forced college is going to be resented and forgotten by those the age restriction is really intended to help, anyway.
edit: I double posted cuz of two entire different topics but my Blazer's talk is on the previous page

I don't give two sh*ts about their academics, that's their prerogative whether they want to learn or not, judging by how many players manage their money they really should, but ultimately they should have that freedom to decide. However when it comes to the NBA, if I were in charge thinking solely about the business side of things and keeping the best product I can put out there on the floor...there's no doubt I would raise the age limit.
I wish they would raise it to 20. I don't care if they go to college of Europe, I don't want to see a watered down league at least no more than it already is. Too many players that come into the NBA don't know their fundamentals or are deemed "project players". Some guys get by just on athletic talent alone but even they aren't well rounded players yet, especially defensively. It seems like the guys who come in after a few years of ball in college are always more NBA ready.

Yea I mean I completely agree about raising it, deep down.... deep down I'd say they need to at least be college graduates but that's just not reasonable at all. In fact it's ridiculous.
Which is why I've moved on to the conclusion that they should just get rid of it... it's more or less society and where the modern world is at, that is creating these people. Sucks... but just look at Dominique, Jordan, Magic, Isiah, etc. When they did interviews they were very well spoken and not to bring race or class into this, but they sounded white or refined. It was a different time.
These days the hip hop culture, while accepted and more prevalent... may not be the best influence and transfer into the real world.

Knicks win again blah blah blah Amare with his 6th straight game of 30 or more blah blah blah
7 offensive rebounds (are you kidding!?), 14 total, 2 blocks blah blah blah.
18 points in the 4th quarter tonight.
Amare is flat out making a case for best big man in the league right now. Obviously it's very early and he hasn't faced LA or Orlando... but he's certainly setting the stage.
What other big has a game like his right now? A jump hook, ability to face the basket down low AND draw the foul and score with contact, range out to 3 point land, consistent scoring from 20 feet as much as under the basket while averaging 2 blocks a game, a steal per game and plays for a team such as the caliber of the Knicks?
Gasol has Kobe creating space, Howard still can't play with his back to the basket to save his life or hit from mid range, also has big contract guys in Vince Carter and Rashard Lewis. I'm not saying Amare is better... but I'm saying it right now that if this keeps up it's going to be hard to deny that he's making a case for elite big man status.
Oh yea and also, his FG% is at 53%... his career is 54%... losing Nash hasn't slowed him down at all, he's actually producing more all around. Meanwhile, the Suns look like a potential lottery team without Amare.
He's also the best "and one" man in basketball and has shot around 180 Free Throws this season for 77%.
He also has a rookie in his starting lineup as arguably the third most important component of the team (Fields).
Best Free Agent signing of the Summer... he's improved his team more than anyone else and has completely reshaped the Franchise. So far, completely worth every penny.
just won his 2nd Eastern Conference player of the week award this season...

Celtics are gettin some breaks with these teams not having their big stars out there. Nonetheless, love how they're handling their business. Good to see bradley finally getting some pt as well.

ing awesome. I'm in public health and mental health awareness gets no love. This helps the kids out which is also important. I think this is a great move that can have some really positive outcomes. As crazy as Ron Artest is, it's nice to see him making these contributions. Thanks for sharing the link. Of course he's not the only one donating money to charities and such, but any publicity about mental health awareness is good publicity. I'm sure other players are just as generous, if not more, but don't make the headlines.

Ron Artest. Champion in life, champion at heart lol. But this is really giving of Ron. If half of the top paid players would give 1/5 of their earnings, they'd be able to support all the needy children from the infomercials.

What a finish to the Celtics game, a Rondo heave to KG who put the C's up 1 with 1.4 seconds. Damn.

Yeah, I was actually at that game, it was pretty sweet and easily the most complete game I've seen them play all year.
The got down and played some D and that really fueled their offense. That's first time I've seen Howard in person and that man is worth the price of admission. There was this play where Roy was spotting up for a 3 on the baseline and Howard came all the way from the center of the key to block his shot. It was ridiculous. The rest of the Magic kind of sucks though.

Same old story for the Knicks tonight... Amare with 36 (7 straight games with 30 or more). 7 game winning streak. What else is it 12 of 13 now?
MVP chants on the road.

Mavs can win all these regular season games, but they can't get it together for a 7 game series in the playoffs. Mavs suck except for Marion!!! The Knicks are playing great right now. Can't say the same for the lakers but Gasol is still filling up the stats n staying I the top 2 fantasy players on yahoo for total season stats. He's 1 or 2 every other night.

Was at the Bulls Lakers game last night...it was very cool. The place was loud and into it all night from the "Kobe sucks" to the "MVP" chants for Rose, it was all pretty awesome.
The game itself was really exciting the whole time too. Rose was amazing, and he put up one of his best performances of the year yesterday. Lakers had won 7 straight against them, and it was really good to finally break that at home the way they did. 13-8 i'm happy with pretty much everything so far, just have to keep it up for the long haul, and possibly not fall behind early as they seem to do at times.
Gotta take the Wolves tonight...won't be as easy as always though..Love is a monster.

Knicks beat Denver.... 0 turnovers in the 4th, 1 turnover in the 2nd half.
Amare with 8 consecutive games of 30 or more, sets a Knicks Franchise record.
3rd place Eastern Conference... half game out of 2nd place Eastern Conference.
