There are a million reasons I wouldn't want you near a poll, but you being mentally ill wouldn't be up there. The thing is there has never, ever been a claim from someone that they were denied their right to vote because they were mentally ill. Do you think someone with Down syndrome who can't take care of themselves should be allowed to vote? Now they can in my state. They can here too. I was at a polling place in 2006, waiting for the result so I could report it back and this man came in with who I assume is his wife and she was in a wheelchair and her head was flopped back and she was drooling and her eyes were closed. He first filled out his ballot, submitted it and then wheeled his wife over to a voting booth and took her hand and voted for her. And you don't think that's ridiculous?

Mother er, the Republican just won our Governorship. He voted to stop funding mammograms for women. How the could he be elected? Pay for your own goddamn mammogram. Why should a woman have to pay for a mammogram, if she can barely afford rent and food for her family and the mammogram will financially screw her over?

But to just say "mentally ill" is too vague.

Why should that woman potentially be left to die just because she couldn't afford a screening for cancer?

Why should people have to pay for anything? Why should that woman potentially be left to die just because she couldn't afford a screening for cancer? Should I get a free prostate exam then? How about genetic screening for diseases I may be genetically pre-disposed to?

Why should people have to pay for anything? Why should that woman potentially be left to die just because she couldn't afford a screening for cancer? Because goods and services cost money...

How about genetic screening for diseases I may be genetically pre-disposed to? Yes. No, because I'm guessing 90-95% of the time, you have family that can tell you what diseases your family has had and what you may be pre-disposed to.

Because goods and services cost money... She pays her taxes. But it's not the government's job to prove that kind of care. There is a little thing called personal responsibility.

Because goods and services cost money... She pays her taxes. And the government spends it like a bunch of ing intellectually- disabled apes flinging crapat one another, so there isn't enough to provide things that would actually help people. Which is why we should stop giving them money in the first place. If she got to spend her money on things that would help her and her family, maybe she would be able to pay for her own mammogram instead of paying for pointless crap.

If she got to spend her money on things that would help her and her family, maybe she would be able to pay for her own mammogram instead of paying for pointless crap. The first thing we need to do is get rid of the tax cut for the top 2%. That is going to cost us $700 billion.

The first thing we need to do is stop spending money like it doesn't exist. Agreed. If you've got a major hemorrhage, it's usually not your first priority to go out and get a blood transfusion. Just saying.

But it's not the government's job to prove that kind of care. There is a little thing called personal responsibility. Because of the Declaration of Independence. "that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life." UNALIENABLE RIGHTS. Life is amongst that. We are guaranteed life, so the government should be there to ensure that right by having health care for every citizen.

That definition of "life" means that practically everything could be lopped into the "life" category.
Food and water are needed for life, but can we walk into Subway and demand they make us a sandwich for free? No.

I look at health care as national defense. We dump billions into the military to help protect out nation and it's citizens, so why not protect it's people by providing health care? Other countries do it, so should we.

Food and water are needed for life, but can we walk into Subway and demand they make us a sandwich for free? No. Subway is not a necessity, it's a perk. A mammogram for a woman with a lump is a necessity. Cancer treatment is a necessity.
