Basic series 8 packaging looks insane!!! Like I said Mattel is doing a great job on detail on figures and packaging and im a MOC collector and Im glad they dont do those TNA cheesy ass packaging!!! The stands are cool but hey you can always find different type of stands anywhere !!! I do have over 90 loose figures but It wont bother me

Hopefully its just for Basics, for the amount we pay for Elites we should be the only ones who get Stands and Accessories not the cheaper collectors.

Wow I'm all for dissing a company when they do something wrong, but come on people, it's a piece of plastic with a piece of cardboard......
I think Mattel have done an amazing job thus far and it's not like they're being cheapasses like Jakks about things. I love what Mattel have done thus far and when Mattel have me actually contemplate buying a Chris Masters figure then you know they must be doing things right... lol.

It really doesn't bother me. I'd rather have detail on a figure than their stand and name tag. Besides, Bill said they did away so they can keep the detail. Jakks would drop both, so I'm glad they did away with something other than the detail. I'm glad they got rid of something that, IMO, is sort of useless for the basic line. I love them for Elite and Legends though, so hopefully they will still come with them.

I am just disappointed.

Inclusion of painted and detailed accessories with the more "collector based" figures > Stands.

They need to put out stand packs. I would be happy to buy them for my standless Basic 8 figures.

I was kind of serious when i said i might quit. I mean I still can't find Elite series 6 in stores not to mention every set has a ton of repaints. I am kind of tired of seeing the same crap when i go to stores too.

I think everyone is really missing the big picture here with this issue. Some like the stands some don't, ok cool that isnt the main issue. The fact of the matter is Mattel is needing to cut them for the reason of avoiding a "price increase." I'm used to companies doing this, happens all the time. Is it right? not really. If people truly believe this will allow Mattel to keep giving them ultra detail figures, you're half right. it will for the short term but eventually this same issue will happen again... and something else will have to be cut again. Wash and repeat. Eventually quality and detail is going to suffer, thats a guarantee unless they end up raising the price everytime to keep the same detail. This is a classic case of a company testing the waters to see what they can get away with to keep profits up. Remember last year during the summer that gas sky rocketed and everyone freaked out? All my bills went up from electric to trash to sewer using the excuse that cas was too expensive and they had to raise the rates to offset the cost. Ok but did my rates ever go back down once gas went back down? nope, in fact everytime gas goes up in price (even less in total value as that summer) i get a notice from my electric company that they need to raise the rates again because of gas. Nothing will ever go back down. At work if your company asks you to take a pay cut or a cut in your benefits because they are having a rough time, you will never see you pay go back up to the level or your benefits be the same even if they start to make monstrous profits. They already have established you'd work for less and take less and put up with it so they will continue to push it as far as they can. Companies will continuously use those factors as an advantage to take things away or give you less and you blow it off as a consumer and give them a pass. When you do that you open the door for them to take away more and more. (think what happened with Jakks, they knew people would keep buying their subpar product after all the cost cutting because they kept getting away with it) People who think that wont eventually happen with Mattel are delusional unless they raise the price significantly to keep making a profit. I think this issue really boils down to that. It would be interesting to know what all these little things cost and how much money they are truly making after costs. The worst thing you can do is be an apologizer for Mattel on issues like this. Excellent post and I agree completely. This is the bigger issue involved that most people are choosing to ignore. It's only a matter of time before they start cutting corners in other areas as well.

Not gonna lie, thats pretty disappointing. But with any hope, they just take them away from the basics line which kind of does make sense since they are supposed to be basic after all. I wish we would hear reasoning for this.

Mattel could sell something like this for WWE figures cgi.EBAY LINK NOT ALLOWED/Justice-League-Unlimited-24-action-figure-stands-Mattel-/280588481539?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4154607403 PS = Not my auction and nothing wrestling figure related.

Something like that would be ideal. Hopefully the people at Mattel are taking this into consideration.

Surprised they have done away with the stands as it was one for the main points of sale when they launched the line enabling collectors to easy display there figures.
Could possibly be a budgeting issue but I'm not sure...hopefully we'll find out sooner or later.

Could possibly be a budgeting issue but I'm not sure...hopefully we'll find out sooner or later. Here is the short and simple answer: In order to keep the retail price at the same level in 2011 as they are in 2010, and deal with the annual production costs in the toy industry ( this happens in every company) it was decided to cut the stands and nameplates as opposed to cutting detail on the figures.
