Very important day in American history.
A handful of Republicans have even voted to allow a vote for repeal.
Scott Brown Lisa Murkowski Susan Collins Mark Kirk Olympia Snowe George Voinovich
Senator Joe Manchin, D-WV, was a coward and decided to skip town or at least walked out of the chamber, he did not vote on this at all.
John McCain was being a bastard on this and he's still giant bastard especially after the speeches he gave less than an hour ago and less than 15 minutes ago.

I feel like Scott Brown, despite the pressure from Washington insiders to conform, and the pressure of a watchful eye from voters in MA, is still trying his best to live up to promises he made on the campaign trail.

...voted to allow a vote?
Still leaves too much room for potential snags.

...voted to allow a vote? Still leaves too much room for potential snags. This means there cannot be a filibuster now. We only need 51 votes to pass repeal, it will happen. It's just a matter of them actually voting. It isn't a matter of if, but when. I heard this afternoon will be the final vote, but someone else has said it may happen tomorrow or Monday. John McCain is still a miserable dinosaur, claiming that openly gay service members will increase the number of soldiers who lose body parts.

I swear, I can't stand that McCain. How is his senile ass expected to be able to do anything? His thinking is too old school to work today.

We will single handidly win in Afghanistan and Iraq, we will disarm Iran and North Korea, we will create a dual state for Israel and Palestine and we will bring peace to the world.

I still don't get the theory of if you're gay, you can't fight in the military. Makes no sense.

Glad to hear it, it's been a long time coming.
Very happy with Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe's decision to support the repeal. I was disappointed with their lack of involvement at first, but they've really pulled through for the state of Maine and I think they're making the right choice.

Well I know Collins was one of the only Republicans to vote in favor of the repeal the last time around, so I'd imagine she will again. Both of them have been pretty outspoken about it on local TV coverage lately, so I would be surprised if they voted against it, but anything is possible.

Sen. Leahy held up a poster of two dead soldiers and said "Now you tell me which is the gay one."
