Yeah, but nothing he will get will be nearly as bad as what he did. If he goes to jail, big friggin' deal. He gets to live the rest of his life behind bars where other inmates and sickos will praise him for what he did. Yeah, that's really some justice alright... I say, take him out back and fill him up with bullets just like he did with the innocent people he took out. Life for a life, as far as I'm concerned, especially when you include a child into the mix. That guy deserves death and nothing more. Bring back the gas chamber or electric chair or public hanging or hell, even the guillotine would be nice in this case. Just as long as he doesn't go on living for the next 20+ years. He doesn't deserve to live and eat and stay healthy behind bars after what he did. He deserves to die. End of story.

Yeah, because if you kill a child, you deserve to die more than if you kill an adult.
I'm pretty sure Arizona has the death penalty. Also, he killed a federal judge, so he could get the death penalty on the federal level.

Westboro Baptist Church has announced they will be protesting the funerals of those killed yesterday. Among other things, this was part of their statement. "WBC prays for your destruction--more shooters, more dead carcasses piling up, young, old, leader and commoner--all." Please let Jared Loughner escape and somehow kill them too.

He reportedly has ties to an anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant group, American Renaissance.

Banning guns doesn't fix anything. There's no correlation between guns and violence. If people have violent tendencies, it doesn't matter if they've got a gun or a knife or just their two fists. Again, this guy had an illegal gun. If you banned guns in the US, he'd still have an illegal gun. The problem is we have a culture of violence. You know why other countries have lower crime rates? It's because their culture is less violent.

The people on yahoo are laughable and delusional.
Saying he was mad about the stuff Obama and the Democrats were doing and then saying the shooter was a Democrat. How does that make sense?
They are blaming the Democrats, saying if they hadn't pushed their radical agenda, then this guy wouldn't have did what he did. Saying that Democrats knew this was coming and they kept passing stuff to basically entice this guy.

A filing in federal court is expected today listing specific charges against the shooter Jared Loughner and elaborating on his stated motives

No known national political organization should be blamed for this attack. None of them condone violence.

www.infowars.com/arizona-assassin-obsessed-with-mind-control/Apparently the shooter had become quite fixated on the aspects of mind control. Any possibility that he may be a 'manchurian candidate?' As a budding professional journalist, many of the news stories that have presented themselves in the past year have troubled me greatly. I fear that our country is headed down a path of unending fear and prejudice towards those that we interpret to be enemies of our way of living. Most of my college classes are filled with intelligent students who willingly admit that they are fearful for their well being when seated in close proximity to a person of Arabic descent during any form of public transportation. Many of them support the decision to install full body scanners in national airports, giving up constitutional rights in exchange for a sense of safety. What troubles me the most about all of this, is that American citizens have clearly been conditioned to reconsider the manner in which they live their lives, based upon perceived 'threats' sensationalized by the media. Hailing from perhaps the most liberal area in the country (just east of NYC), it upsets me to see otherwise clearheaded individuals allow themselves to be swayed by fear. Politics have become accustomed to the divisive means that government feels is necessary to reach its goals, and so have politicians. It is my fear that divisiveness will eventually excalate into more elaborate acts of violence between groups that are seen as 'opposing' one another, ie christians and muslims, democrats and republicans, wikileaks supporters/detractors etc etc. Although this particular news story has little to do with that, it is my belief that if America had not become so divisive in recent years, that domestic terrorism such as this wouldn't be taking place. By instead allowing our fear to dictate our reactions to perceived threats, we have created a state of perpetual fear that will help politicians get elected, but ultimately will not better serve the lives of those that they govern. Also- for those interested in learning more about the governments role in mind control, I found this wikipedia page to be extremely informative: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKULTRA

The last mind controlled assassin we had was Sirhan Sirhan.
I doubt they would train this guy to kill a congresswoman.

Jared Loughner is charged with one count of attempted assassination of member of Congress, two counts of killing an employee of the federal government and two counts of attempting to killing a federal employee.
Why isn't he charged with the deaths of the others?

Bit of a local tie to me...the 9-year old that died was the granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green. He reportedly has ties to an anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant group, American Renaissance. Lovely. They'll be able to use that (because he shot a pro-immigration reform congresswoman) plus his MySpace postings (because what mentally sound person still uses MySpace?) to prove he's insane.

Why isn't he charged with the deaths of the others? Those are the Federal Government's charges. They don't have the jurisdiction to file charges for the deaths of the civilians, just the federal employees. The state of AZ has to file the civilian charges.
