OMG that's overkill. The comments on his FB page are absolutely ridiculous, and those "fans" should be ashamed of themselves. I know if I was any part of the Giants organization, and I saw those, I would be ashamed of those people. Hell, as an Eagles fan, I despise the Giants, and I'm even ashamed that those people call themselves fans of the team. It's sickening. Funny, I don't think anyone in the NFL had more of a connection with his fans on facebook/twitter than Steve Smith did. I don't know why, he just had that connection..He was like one of us, you know..down to earth, normal..he even ragged on the Eagles like we did, posting pictures of Philly with an empty Super Bowl collection and constantly making fun of them on a weekly basis. Then he signs with them? Real class act. He was always cool to me but I also didn't go out of my way to talk to him. But I've seen him be a real douche to the fans and act ungrateful.

Who cares, Smith is nearly done and has been Mr. Glass the past few years. His return to the Giants wasn't a silver lined situation. He works hard on his own to stay in shape and be ready and he was still getting hurt. His injuries cost us games last year but the truth is the O-Line and secondary cost us more than anything else. I see the bigger vision for the Giants and Jerry Reese. They are not trying to load up for a 1 to 3 year run. They are managing this Roster with the bigger picture in mind. The team has serious issues on the O-Line, and this isn't the time to pay WR's and TE's. With the O-Line issues they have, Smith's presence proved to be irrelevant last year, many times. He signed with the Eagles bro..he knows how bad we hate him, he's been making comments about them for years about how he would love to crush them, he's been in that locker room after all those crushing losses to them. He knew it, all of it..and ignored it and joined the hype, he's a bandwagoner. Money is money, he would still eat like a king either way, it's not like he's 31 looking for his last contract, he had many years ahead of him..he could of signed a 1 year contract with us to help his foundation for a better contract next year. Ralpho, nice play on words huh? Coughlin also talked a lot about Smith today before he came out and announced he's leaving. Sounds like both sides didn't respect what each other was offering. Hey whatever, if he wants to go play there then so be it. If he's taunting our fans later this year or talking crap about our team then yea, him. But for all you know, the Eagles could bust this year due to injury or Smith could bust due to injury, then sign with the Giants after this 1 year deal. I'm not that mad about it, although I sorta already knew Steve Smith was a little immature/narrow minded.

This has been one of the craziest NYG offseason's since 2007, and the fan favorite scorching us for the douches east to us really put a nail in the coffin. Some fans are taking it too far as JM said though...even calling him Benedict Arnold.

why is this such a big deal?
he is a slot receiver and not the face of your franchise

Nicks and Manningham put up 2000 yards, 140 catches and 20 TDs between the two of them.
I'm not worried. Not alot of receivers put up those numbers.

Giants fans are being ridiculous about it. The Giants lowballed him, and the Eagles actually gave him a good offer. He should have left a few million dollars on the table out of loyalty? The Giants didn't care about signing him, otherwise they wouldn't have lowballed him like that. If you're mad about him leaving, blame your team, not Smith.

To be fair, we offered him a contract before the season started last year that would've locked him up for 4 years.

If your doctor said you couldnt do this, so your job only offered you 10$ an hour. Another doctor said you could do more stuff at work, and another place offered you 20$ an hour. Where the do you think you will go work?

Where the do you think you will go work? I don't blame him for taking the Eagles offer, especially with his knee, and the fact that it's a huge guaranteed payday. I'm personally not even mad any more. He's just another Eagles player now.

I mean I understand that if you're pissed, you'll let it out. But just don't associate yourself with that player anymore. The comments that I read on Twitter and Facebook were so classless and distasteful it was un-real.
If you don't want to wish him well, that's fine. But don't say you want his career over, or possibly crippled, or harm done to his family. That's just ridiculous, Some people really need to grow up in that fanbase.

Misinformation, football or not, is one of my biggest pet peeves.
Don't take it personally.
