OK I'll ask what we're all gonna ask: Work or shoot?

A work on RAW and not Smackdown? I highly doubt it. It seems 100% legit to me.
And also saddens me a lot more than I thought it would.

Wait, did the doctors really say that or is it a work?

I think it was legitimate, though it does seem strange that they didn't hype his announcement at least a week in advance, or let it be the main event slot. I mean, the guy gave thirteen years to the WWF/WWE...but, oh well. Seems to be legitimate to me.

Wow, sad to see him go but glad he is leaving before his neck puts him in a wheelchair.
Edge returning in 2004 and spearing Bischoff was one of my earliest wrestling memories. I feel honored to have seen his career pique the way it did.

I'll admit, I was half-expecting Del Rio's music to hit and interrupt the proceedings.
If it's a work, then my prediction is that ADR will lure Edge into one final match at Extreme Rules with Edge putting his health and career on the line. He'll then pass the torch to ADR. Pure 100% drama.
If it's a shoot, then thank you Edge. Sad, sad stuff.

Shoot for sure. It makes sense and he seemed serious. Honestly if its a work I'll be ticked as they would have crossed a line. Honestly he's broke his neck many times and if this is a work then he still should have retired as he is getting older and with that comes easier broken neck and well his neck is as frail as a toothpick. I may not like Edge but I feel for the guy. I hope that wwe can recover from this loss as well wasn't he there longer then everyone else that was left? Taker, trips, hbk all gone. Well that leaves Kane as the sole veteran of the last millenium.

There is no way this is a work.

It was very sudden. No announcement needed because it seems like it was an immediate decision from the doc. Thank you Edge, that speech was FN moving, thanks so much for the memories. Edge was the last of a dying breed of wrestlers who worked their way up for years to DESERVE the status.
Hope WWE releases a definitive Edge DVD soon!

no way in Hell is it a work. It's impossible to script THAT kind of emotion.

I think it's a work. I'm pretty sure that if one of WWE's top draws was actually retiring they might make a bigger deal out of it.
I'm pretty sure they would talk about it a little bit rather than move on right away.
Does nobody remember Cena's fake retirement? They did the exact same wrestler lineup bit. I don't doubt that he'll be retiring soon, but it won't be right now.

Holy shit, I'm gutted.
Edge is LITERALLY my favorite OF ALL TIME. I have been following him since the first time I saw him come through the crowd over 10 years ago! I LOST MY MIND for him numerous times. Him cashing in MITB the first time and surprisingly showing up and winning the Rumble are two of my favorite Edge moments. I am in shock as I sit here writing this. I don't know what I'll do now that he's gone. :-(
This is a sad, sad day for Edgeheads around the world.

I wouldn't think it would effect me as much as it's doing. I grew up on edge. I got into wrestling right before royal rumble 98, edge debuted only a couple of months after that. I've seen him do everything. He was also the first wrestler I've ever met. with shawn last year and edge this year my childhood is truly falling apart.

That literally brought a tear to my eye. Seeing another guy that i watched debut and now retire is kind of weird to me. Am i the only one who was pissed CHristian wasn't there?

But right now, I'm betting everything on this being a work.

When i saw the news about it.. i was truly in shock.. i can't believe this..very sad news in the WWE. Edge,Christian,Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy back in the era of 2001 until 2010 was the start and the end of my watching wrestling but i was still watching because of them and other wrestlers. because of this 4 men I liked Wrestling.. and since the Hardys are in TNA and Effing up. Edge and Christian were my favorite in the WWE.. Now Edge is gone hopefully they do something good with Christian.. Edge Aka Adam Copeland will be remembered as an Amazing talent and that he is truly one of the best of his era really sucks I hope we will be ok sad news
