Thank You For The Memories Edge! You will always be apart of many of my favorite moments and matches in the WWE and I thank you for those moments and the time and everything you have given us as an wrestler and sport's entertainer.

Maybe they could have him screw over ADR at Extreme Rules and have Christian win the title?

im happy edge is retired im not bashing him but he was getting really boring in the ring and on the mic.
but it is a BAD way to end his career. hopefully he gets one last match with christian at WM29 and a better farewell

So bummed. So happy I got to see him wrestle numerous times live, got to see one of my dream WM encounters between him and Undertaker, and I got to see him win the World Title at back-to-back live shows in Pittsburgh. He's been one of my favs for ten years now and he'll be missed dearly. Hopefully he comes back soon in a GM/commentating role.

It's a horrible shame, but it's better that he retire at 37 than be crippled by 38.
Thank you, Edge, for everything you've ever done. All those insane matches that you put your body on the line for. Many of us have watched his entire WWE career and it hits close to home. But he was one of my all-time favorites, as I'm sure is the case for many on this board. He never failed to have his share of fans. I'm glad he managed to reinvent his career again and finally figured out how to be an awesome main event face before he retired.
Thank you again, Edge. You were truly one of a kind in this business.

Sad day for wrestling. Edge has always been one of my favorites. I have a feeling the 2012 WWE Hall of Fame will be Rated R...

Damn.... Edge has always been one of my favorites... I've been watching since 2000/2001 and he and Christian entertained me and I grew up over all these years seeing him on my TV screen almost every week. Now it will be weird not seeing The Rated R Superstar on my TV anymore, and the sad part is.... he is still one of the most talented guys in the buisness, but unfourtunatly.... he has to go because of a career ending injury that can develop.
This makes me really sad, as Edge is one of my all-time favorites, but THANK YOU Edge. We will always remember the Spear to Jeff at WMX7, the Spear through the Flaming Table to Mick at WM22, The Live Sex Celebration with Lita, all the classic skits with Christian, Cashing in the Money in the Bank breifcase and shocking everyone while claiming the WWE title the same night.
WWE is gunna feel weird without him.
Thank you Edge!

Accoriding to WWE website he had stenosis of the spine, isn't that the same thing Arn Anderson had? in any case glad they caught it early and thanks for the memories.

Shoot for sure. It makes sense and he seemed serious. Honestly if its a work I'll be ticked as they would have crossed a line. Honestly he's broke his neck many times and if this is a work then he still should have retired as he is getting older and with that comes easier broken neck and well his neck is as frail as a toothpick. I may not like Edge but I feel for the guy. I hope that wwe can recover from this loss as well wasn't he there longer then everyone else that was left? Taker, trips, hbk all gone. Well that leaves Kane as the sole veteran of the last millenium. And Big Show and Christian... I'm sad to see him go, I think shoot, he gave us some of the best matches ever.

Having had neck surgery myself, it's no work. If you have fusion in your neck (with he had, I didn't) a big enough blow can cause those steel plates and pins to move only a little bit and hit your spinal cord a paralyze you forever. (hence the wheelchair reference) I know it's wrestling but sorry guys it's legit.

Edge was one of my favorites in 2002 and 2003. I still love the guy. I'm honored to say I got to see his last match.
It sucks so bad to see everyone from my childhood winding down or retiring or dying.
I turned 18 a few months ago, and I'm about to graduate, and the fact that my childhood is about to end is really hitting me. The fact that it seems everything and everyone from my childhood is ending also is really frustrating.

I remember when he came through the crowd for the first time. I remember when he won his first WWE Title, defining the MITB and bringing a true shock factor back to the WWE.
I'll seriously miss Edge and I hope he'll atleast start announcing or something. He is still damn entertaining and I'm sure he'll end up with one of those "lifetime" WWE contracts anyways.

Edge's last match? Pics I took from SmackDown tapings last week. This was the main event dark match.
