Edge is retired. Discuss. Edge is 100% right! WWE may be "scripted" but incidents are REAL! I applaud this guy. Its sad to see him go.

For some reason Edge wasnt a wrestler who I saw going into his 40's or 50's anyway like Flair and Hogan. His character always seemed to be young and full of energy it would have been weird seeing him wrestling as a middle aged Edge.

indeed,THANK YOU EDGE!!!!
from your initial appearance as the original "Charismatic Enigma" in the summer of 1998 , through the formation of the Brood (and it's subsequent assimilation into the Ministry of Darkness) ,to the tag career with Christian,to the singles push wit the King of the ring win in 2001 and the IC title, to the eventual emergence of the "Rated R Superstar" and 11 time World Champion/WWE Champion....i always enjoyed his work, and i will sorely miss the excitement and unpredictability he brought to the ring and the WWE....
for posterities sake...the national television debut of Adam Copeland in WCW circa 1996 as "Damon Striker'...

Whether it was the crazy spear bump at WM17 or his later heel turns and some odd storylines I can honestly say Edge has always entertained me. Thanks for the memories bro.

I wish I could find words to express how sad I was last night watching one my favourite wrestlers forced into retirement by an injury at a relatively young age.
I'm honored to say I watched him evolve from his debut TV match to the man that retained the world heavyweight championship at wrestlemania 27.
Thank you Edge; thank you for the incredible matches, the amazing memories and most of all for entertaining me for so many years. The wrestling world now has a void, one that will be very hard to fill.
I am grateful that he will now be able to live a healthy life, and as a previous poster pointed out, I am so glad he didn't go through with the ladder match at extreme rules.
Thank you, Edge.

Yeah, it's a really scary thought. The WWE gets a lot of hate for stuff, but this is one time where they should be commended for making sure their stars get the proper medical check ups.

The whole time I was watching the speech I kept waiting for Del Rio or Christian or someone to come out because I didn't believe it was real, after knowing that it's real and now knowing that we will never see Edge in the ring again, its truly sad because he was a great superstar for a long time, always entertaining. He put his body through a lot of crazy stuff through out the years for our entertainment, WWE won't be the same without the Rated R Superstar.
Sometimes its hard to think that Edge went from winning his first world title in 2006 to being an 11 time heavyweight champion 5 years later, I wish he would have gotten longer runs with the belt, thats 1 of the things that always bothered me.
A silver lining to all of this is that he went out on top as World Heavyweight champion, I'll always appreciate Edge because you know he didn't wrestle for the money or the fame, he wrestled because like each and every one of us he fell in love with the business. I always thought the footage of him from WM 6 in the crowd and the pictures of his yearbook that says MOST LIKELY TO BE WWF CHAMPION were pretty awesome considering he got to fulfill his dreams.
Best part of this all is that he hopefully won't be in a wheelchair like he said, and that he can live the rest of his life happy and healthy. Thank you Edge.

I literaly almost cried when I heard this. I've always liked Edge, and he's always been one of my favourites. It's a shame that his last match wasn't with Christian.

I am actually having trouble believing this. I have been listening to Metalingus on repeat since I heard.
I need a new favorite wrestler...

But that's another story... There is one plus point on Edges retirement though, I get to look back on some of the awesome matches he's had over the years ;D And for anyone that's interested, his Decade of Decedance dvd is up for £7 on silvervision.co.uk now, I'll definitely be getting it

I liked Edge right from his debut and thought The Brood was really fun. I loved E&C and their alliance with Angle. That was one of my favorite "factions" and some of my fondest memories from the Attitude Era largely because they were so against the norm of cool heels then.
I loved the Smackdown Six era and liked how he and Rey matched up with Angle&Benoit and the Guerreros. I wasn't a big fan after the news of he and Lita broke, but somewhere in between Hardy's rants, I slowly started to dig Edge again and my favorite heel moment is him cashing in his Money in the Bank and beating Cena. It was the most intelligent thing I'd ever seen a heel do.
I'm really glad he's able to be in some health and in a position to walk away and best of all can actually be at the Hall of Fame to accept his induction.

I don't know what to say, other than this is terrible. I haven't been this heartbroken over anything wrestling wise since Eddie Guerrero's death ever. When I first started watching wrestling, I was instantly fascinated by Edge because he was so unique to me in comparison to the rest of the roster. It didn't really hit me right away, but when I woke up this morning, it finally hit me "that was it". This is terrible news, and while he may not have been the best wrestler, he was certainly the most entertaining to me, and that's what this company is based on these days.
Edge's retirement has left a void in me that no other wrestler could ever fill. Thank you so much Edge for everything you've ever done.

Jeez, the guy isn't dead. Eddie Guerrero's name is coming up way too much on wrestling forums for my liking. Edge is a young, successful multi-millionaire who is now going to move on to the next chapter of his life as a producer, writer, agent, manager, or whatever else he chooses to do in the business.
Sure, it sucks that he can no longer actively compete in the ring (although I'm sure he'll be back for one last match in a limited capacity similar to what Bret Hart did) but judging from his promo last night, he is at peace with the situation and ready to move on.
Fans should celebrate his career, his life and his health, not mourn him as though he is dead.

Edge is my favorite wrestler of all-time, so to hear this last night really saddened me. He's been through a lot in the ring, so I am glad that he didn't stay for too long and seriously get injured. WWE isn't going to feel the same wth out him. Thank you Edge.

Edge wasn't one of my favorite wrestlers, but I respect and enjoyed the entertainment he gave over all the years especially back in the Attitude Era. Sucks to see him have to go. The saddest thing is probably that he never did get a 1 on 1 feud with Christian, which I know would've been awesome.
