you never want to see some one you are a fan of have to walk away, but he is getting the rare opportunity to go out on top, a champion, and loved by the fans. he gave us so much over the past 13 years, so good for Edge. he is still young and healthy so he can live a happy life and not be an old bitter bastard like Billy Graham.

Well I'm from Hamilton, and I totally marked out when he mentioned that his first match took place here in 1996. I saw that match live. It was a house show and he worked against Christian. It was before they both debuted on Raw. Christian was announced as Christian Cage and Edge was announced as Adam Copeland. So to have been fortunate enough to have followed his career from his debut match till his retirement speech was amazing. After Bret Hart left in 97, Edge became the big Canadian Icon in the WWE. I even had my hair long like his for a long time. I was sad to see him leave but his health is more important than wrestling. I will miss watching him work his ass off every week.
There is a huge wrestling convention on Toronto in April 2012. So I'm assuming he would be a perfect guest for that since he won't have to travel. So if he is there, I'll finally be able to meet him and get his CS Exclusive signed

Did anyone else notice Edge grabbing his neck on SD! after he speared Brodus? Maybe something went wrong..

I knew this wasn't an angle when Edge started tearing up. That's the difference between Edge's retirement and Cena's "retirement". Edge was actually emotional and even the heels sent him off.

Gonna take some time to get used to him being gone. But as much as it sucks I'm glad he's still healthy enough to live a full life. He's had an outstanding career. Good for him.

This certainly wasn't the thing I was expecting to read after waking up this morning. Really am gutted about this, I liked him ever since his days with Christian and regarded him as my favourite shortly after Eddie Guerrero's death until this day.
Just a damn shame we won't ever see him wrestle again. But I totally understand the reasoning.

I'm shocked, and I'm gutted.
The whole thing brought a tear to my eye.
This past year I've been really getting behind Edge again, and now he's done. Too soon, too soon.

Without your health your life is nothing. So its best to walk away now and be thankful for the good times and the memories, id say Edge is probably in the top 12 of all time.

Only just watched Raw from last night. Absolutely, well and truly gutted. He was my favourite superstar along with HHH and The Rock when I first started watching wrestling. No way is it a work, worst news in wrestling for a long time, one of the most intense and charismatic superstars of all times, definitely will be missed, but its for the best if it's the difference between him being in a wheelchair and not.

This is really sad. Good for Edge to get out in one piece while he can. It honestly seems like the Ladder match could have crippled him.
I think we'll see him for one more Mania match down the line, but not for a long long time.

Could not believe it. A remarkable career, which deserves to be celebrated. Thank you Edge!

If Edge ever returns for just one match, it's gotta be at Wrestlemania against Christian.

Before it happened, I was sure it was a work. After seeing it, I was in shock. I'm happy he will get to go out on top and live a better life, but I'm sure going to miss the guy. Edge has been my fave since 2004, some great memories over the last 7 years. Cashing in on Cena at the EC was one of my favorite moments in WWE bar none.

feels bad man Will always remember the 10/30/00 episode of RAW where Edge and Christian celebrated Edge's birthday. Not only because it was hilarious but because it was my birthday too. and my birthday to! edge was one of my favorites from 01-10 but for the past year you could tell that edge has become stale and a little rusty in the ring. its good he retired before he ended up in a wheel chair. hopefully down the line he wrestles christian at WM29 in his last match putting over christian for the world title

I've never been a huge fan of Edge. I don't hate the guy, he's just not my favorite. With that being said, it's still sad to see anyone give up something they love so much.
I'm just glad he's getting it taken care of now as opposed to when it's too late.

I could absolutely see Edge being the headliner for the HOF next year. He deserves that.
