1. Fair, you don't like her, don't need to put her. 2. She was extremely talented and made pop music look like it was worth something when she was on top. 3. Yeah wasn't that shocking. But the rest didn't live in an era where they were hounded by media 24/7. So that point is pretty invalid. When was she on top? So far as I can tell, she was more famous for the drugs than the music, something that really can't be said for Cobain, Hendrix, Joplin, Jones, or Morrison. Morrison is more known for stories about himself and "Light My Fire" than anything else. Same difference. How about when she won 5 Grammys and her album going 2x platinum? In terms of career, I'd say she was pretty much on top at the time. Yeah, she was also in headlines for her issues. But she was thrown up to the spotlight because of her music and how much people liked her. Also calling Winehouse another pop singer? She produced soul styled pop in an era of electronically produced artists. She could actually sing and didn't play shows with 50,000 things going on to distract from lack of talent. I will state again, with how media is these days, the rest didn't live in the same style of treatment. If the internet existed how it did, do you know how many videos of Cobain being ed up in public would exist? Cobain was as known for his heroin abuse as he was his music.

Eh, not surprising. When you openly admit to drugs use, and also admit you don't want help, what the hell do you think will happen?

I am pretty upset about this. I own all her music and love it. So much soul. Such a beautiful voice.
R.I.P.
But if you're at all surpised by this, you just weren't paying attention. I almost feel like she wanted this to happen.

I know it's easy to make jokes, and to say she did it to herself, because she did. But I guess I find it sad that everyone saw this coming, and we all watched her spiral out of control and head down a path of self destruction, and nobody, including herself was able to stop it.

Honestly...I'm surprised it didn't happen earlier.

She has always been one of my favorite artists, but I honestly am not surprised. She had so much talent & she just couldn't get her life straight. Such a shame. Maybe its a little selfish, but I hope she got a lot done on her last album. People were talking about how innovative it is. Hope it sees the light of day eventuality

Cobain was as known for his heroin abuse as he was his music.I don't even really agree there either... "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is probably one of the 10 most popular and critically acclaimed songs of all-time. He'll be known for that more than he will be for overdosing. I doubt the same is true with Amy Winehouse and "Rehab" (or whatever else you would think is her biggest song). Just my opinion though.

It wouldnt suprise anyone if it was, but has it been confirmed to have been drug related? From what i remember she had a pretty major illness back in '08, could have been that again

I guess I find it an interesting represtantaion of our culture that many seem to find it amusing or funny that Amy Winehouse is dead, yet many of the same people think the deaths of Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, Chris Farley, Ryan Dunn, Jimi Hendrix, Sid Vicious, Jim Morrison, John Belushi, Miss Elizabeth, Sherri Martel, Test and others were tragedies.

Why was my thread locked when I started mine 9 minutes before this one? More importantly, who cares about trivial stuff like that?

Because there was already one on the entertainment section, where it belongs, and it already had 3 pages of posts, where yours didn't even have a full page.

I loved the sound of her music when I first heard of her in 2006, but I haven't listened to her much since with the exception of Rehab being in Rock Band.
Unfortunately, it seems like she made a number of poor decisions in her personal life that cost her a chance at becoming a great artist.
It's sad to see the talent go to waste, but I remember a time when people were expecting her to die or end up in jail sooner rather than later.

I think all of those people (with the exception of Ryan Dunn) had more to add to their profession and the world. Amy Winehouse was going to just add to an oversaturated market of pop music. I've never been a fan of hers and I can't for the life of me say that she had any form of measurable talent imo.

Lol, I wasn't not exactly a big fan of hers, and I respect people's opinions, but your reply is stupid. Untalented? Really? Have you ever listened to her music? She's was probably the one damn good singer in the whole of the world of popular music at the time(note, not pop, which she didn't even make). Sid Vicious? Seriously? You honestly believe that he had more to offer, and that he was more talented?
