Pretty sure an African American currently dons the Spider-Man suit in the ultimate universe after Peter Parke kicked the bucket.

The OP has a good point. If there is a Captain America and a Captain Britain, why isnt there a Captain Korea? Even if there are Asian superheroes created by Asian media, they end up becoming white in Hollywood like Son Goku in Dragonball Evolution. I've watched the cartoon and Goku looks pretty caucasian to me. Maybe if Japanese animators didn't go out of their way to make their characters look about as far from Japanese as possible, things might be different. I never understand why whites think all anime characters are white. Is it some kind of inferiority/superiority complex?

Is it some kind of inferiority/superiority complex? because japan has a cultural obsession with the white man. most people in japan's advertisements are half-white, half-japanese. just as many of western culture's advertisements feature interracial relationships. this is, theoretically, imposed upon by years of media and conditioning. the white man appears strong, albeit ignorant, and courageous. just as we portray japanese people in our movies as stereotypes as well.

Personally I find it unfair that every super hero in the market of comic books and movies are all portrayed by white people. There's no real diversity in the genre. It seems like a formulated pattern is used to make all these hero flicks cater to the white demographic audience and shun out the rest. I don't consider myself a racist but I do see things for what they are and to sit through a movie that focuses on a 95% white american cast and polishes them to look like god sent angels from heaven, I have to question the motive. What I would like to see is something similar to the Street Fighter franchise which offers a variety of characters from different ethnic backgrounds throughout the globe and engaged in a story that's relevant to everyone. I want to see cultures from outside the USA. Captain America was total patriotic garbage if you asked me and didn't deserve the box office success it has. I would rather sit through some of the more cheesy Godzilla films that were made in the 70s and pay to see it at that than sit through Captain America a second time. That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've read on WF in a while. Captain America was created for that specific reason. Arguably, he was more or less propaganda for World War II.

^exactly, propaganda for WW2 so to see something like that done for today's audience I find it to be irrelevant. And whatever on your statement about my comments being dumb because if anything this is probably the most insightful thread in this forum.

So you're saying that, because you realize that the most iconic comic book heroes created during WWII are white American males who have remained popular due to their longevity, that makes you the most insightful person to ever create a thread in recent memory?
Grow up.
And yes, Captain America IS relevant. Even though at his core, he was CREATED during WWII as American propaganda, that doesn't mean that he's remained as such for 70 years.
