I think i see it differently than most of you. While I have no problem with gay marriage, I do have an issue with the phrasing on that shirt. I am married and do not like her implying that all marriage is gay. If she wore a "support gay marriage" shirt it would have been different. She would be offended if somebody wore a shirt that said "marriage is only for straight people", so she should show the same respect that she expects to get.

Does that mean I should be able to wear a shirt promoting sex or drugs or alcohol to school, church or family function? I agree with the whole freedom of speech thing of course, but just because I'm able to have free speech doesn't mean I should be obnoxious about it. Yup, sure you can. It's free speech. If someone has a problem, that's their problem, nobody is forcing them to read the t-shirt or even look at the person wearing it.I think you are wrong. While YES you do have freedom of speech, the park also has the right to refuse service. So if you want to be all LESBIAN rights activist and wear shirts with lame/mean/hatefull messages on it go ahead. Just not in a family park. Or rather I should say a PRIVATELY OWNED family park. Really people who would wear a shirt like that to a family park have issues and just are DESPERATLY trying to get attention. So she got attention, from park staff, and they didnt think her shirt was cute, so she is throwing a hissy fit. Really I feel sorry for the park, now it will prob be swamped with complaints from other misguided gay and lesbians who think the park was gay bashing when really it was just trying to uphold a friendly peacefull FAMILY environment.

my question is why do the women getting married look like men? It's a silly double standard, lesbians tend to look like men and society usually has no problem with a woman dressing like a man. Now had that been a guy in heels and a skirt not only would he not have been allowed in the park society prob would have mocked him.

My first honest reaction was "Who the hell would want to go to Dollywood?". My second reaction was laughing at the shirt, as I thought it was funny.
When it comes down to it, if she paid to get into Dollywood and they have policies dictating what someone can and can't wear, then she should turn it inside out when asked. Free Speech and all that jazz is nice, but it doesn't apply when you aren't in public. Even if you are "outside", if you are still on the company's property, it's their rules.
No different than a "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service" rule that any McDonalds has.

How is offensive to a family though? Is it just cos it says the word 'gay' on it? •Well for one some people may take offense to you calling there union/marriage gay. Just as gays want to be allowed to exist peacefully so do I want my marriage to not be slandered.
•Then think for a second, there are small children in the park. Why should a baby have to exposed to such a message? Just because the lesbian wants attention I have to explain to my baby what the shirt means? What gay means? Too much of a hassel which is easily avoided by either not letting her in or asking her to flip the shirt inside out.
• It is a privately owned park. If they dont want you wearing a certain peice of clothing in there park then guess what..... either comply, leave, or open your own park. It's a silly double standard, lesbians tend to look like men and society usually has no problem with a woman dressing like a man. Now had that been a guy in heels and a skirt not only would he not have been allowed in the park society prob would have mocked him. What so women can't wear jeans and t-shirts?[/quote] • Women can wear what ever they want. I prefer my woman in a sexy skirt but if women out there want to be frumpy/manly in jeans and a shirt.... meh so be it.

Does she have a right to wear whatever she wants? Yes. Does the place have the right to do what they did? Yes. Now if she was walking on a public street and a cop told her to do that then there would be a problem.

Yeah, you can't express yourself much here in Tennessee... Tennessee is right in the heart of the bible belt and has always been a very conservative place.

Jeez...Disney World is more tolerant than Dollywood, and Walt Disney was an antisemite.

You call it Sexism, I call it being a man. I love a nice sexy pair of womens legs in a short skirt, instead of being hidden away in jeans.

Yeah, personally I think it's gross when a woman wears men's clothing. I'm not saying that they don't have the right to wear what they want, I'm just saying I find that to be a major turn-off for me.
That's not being sexist and it is incredibly absurd to say that it is.

honestly, i think she was wearing it if anything for those kinds of reactions, however she completely has the right to.
BUT she's going into a park, and as lorenzo cleared up, she surrendered certain rights when she entered the park as i'm sure the park clarifies.
it's so pathetic of us all, as a race, to continue to fail to accept one another so blatantly.

Here's the thing though, why does she need to wear a shirt that advertises her sexual preference? She has the right to, definitely, but why does she need to? It seems kind of obnoxious to me just like I would find a person wearing a shirt that speaks out against homosexuality obnoxious. Why do people need to advertise their beliefs or lifestyle.

that's a question she can only answer for herself, and we can only presume of.
