I'd like to see other examples of the ratings dropping when Punk is on.
That segment's drop in ratings was more likely due to the Miz and Alberto Del Rio. Whether it's right or not, whether they have the in-ring talent or not (which they do), most fans think Miz and Alberto Del Rio are a bore and belong on Smackdown. Miz and Del Rio should NOT be main eventing or be in any matches with Punk, Cena, or HHH. That's why Vengeance got no buys and poor attendance. ADR and Miz in the main events.
It's not Punk. Who are they going to put the belt on? Cena? Listen to the boos Cena gets. People are tired of him.

Well, while the "article" mentions de-strapping Punk due to low ratings, a few of us are talking more about the current champion line up with Punk, Bryan and Ryder and the Raw turnout. While their opening segment put up decent numbers, those 3 were featured in the main event of the show which ended up being one of the lowest rated MEs all year. On one hand, 2 of the heels you mention as being "boring" were in that main event. However, if Ryder, Bryan and Punk are the preferred choice of all fans shouldn't the end of the show and the over-run have the highest ratings of the year just so the fans could see their favorites at center stage? By the way, you mention people being tired of Cena. Can you explain why each week his segments seem to put ratings on the board? Boos don't necessarily equal boredom. Some people are tired of him, but those people are still buying tickets and tuning in for Raw. Randy Orton receives some of the largest pops of the current roster, but like clockwork, the ratings seem to dip for his segments. Are "people" tired of Randy?

Hey I got an idea.. Let's just play it safe and let Cena hold the title for the next 5-10 years.. And then when his body starts to break down, and he can't perform anymore.. WWE can easily turn to... Wait that's right.. NO ONE ELSE. Who the else do they have that will increase ratings to the maximum? Kane? Del Rio? The Miz? Orton? I have another idea.. The Undertaker has another 10 years in him minimum.. HBK can always come back. Triple H.. And of course The Rock can show up 3 times a year. it lets bring DX back. They either stick with this long term, and find better writers that won't water down CM Punk.. Continue to build Ziggler, Rhodes, Punk, Bryan, Ryder.. Or they drop it all together.. Cena won't carry WWE forever.. They need to realize this right now regardless of what the ratings say.

Didn't Punk say his promos are his alone? Hasn't he said in several interviews that they told him to go out and say what he wanted to say? Maybe it's not the writers in this case. Could Punk be running out of edgy "insider" shots he can take? As cool as that was, how many times can he use HHH's real name or remind us that Nash is irrelevant circa 2011 or even tell us that the WWE rent's ADR's fancy cars for his entrance? Sorry, I should mention that I actually love Punk's current character and the people they're currently trying to develop. I'm just playing devils advocate on this one.

Then WWE is stuck with their thumb up their ass. They have to commit to building new stars and sticking with them. Love them or hate them, guys like Del Rio, Miz, and definitely Punk need to stay main eventers. You can't fire a half load like they did with Sheamus or Swagger and expect it to stick. Honestly, if anyone takes a beating for that rating, I don't think it ends up being Punk. DBryan seems like an easy target if you ask me. Having it happen one time though isn't a big deal, if it happens again then we could see WWE act. Cena has the advantage of great opponents. He became CM Punk's main adversary this Summer, and then he turned his attention back to The Rock, and now he is squaring off against Kane, a feud where people are intrigued by Kane's return. I think if Jericho returns and Punk has a solid opponent, that the ratings will be great. A top face is only as entertaining as the obstacles standing in his way, and right now Punk doesn't really have that imo.

Here's another thing you people need to consider....that's how ratings work. Ratings are measured through selected markets. Most of us watch raw every week, but how many of us are a Nielsen household? ratings aren't really much but an assumption...plus in this day and age with youtube hulu and dvr, ratings are harder to pinpoint

Dirtsheets = crapNews. CM Punk is not the blame of crappy ratings, it's the booking and the storylines. CM Punk is the WWE cash cow currently, his merch sells like crazy and the "Best In The World" Shirt was on backorder for a month or two.

I'm pretty much bored seeing the same people hold the WWE title 2 or 3 times. I think Punk should lose it sooner then later.

I don't think they are watering down CM Punk. He just doesn't come off as rebel as he did during his feuds with Cena and HHH. Those were ended right away. Punk was much more over than Cena and HHH were in those feuds and WWE got scared. Who's Punk going to get bigger reactions/heat from feuding with...Cena/HHH? Hell even Nash.
Or the Miz and ADR?
If Jericho returns and we get a Jericho/Punk feud, I expect Punk's heat to return to June-September 2011 level and I expect that feud to be instrumental in making Punk the next face of the WWE.
Or, WWE can play it safe, and make Cena champ again.

The report has already been confirmed as a fake. Somebody who's made up stories before said F4W reported that, it was posted on various websites and members of F4W said what is being credited to F4W was never on there to begin with.

It's WWE's fault the ratings are down. Maybe if we didn't get the same "6 man tag match" as our main event every other week and got main events that actually are entertaining, the ratings would be good. Obviously the fans love Punk, so how could you think it's his fault the ratings aren't doing good? I'll put it plain and simple. If you want the ratings to be good, you're gonna have to make an effort to make the WHOLE show entertaining. Not just one segment. And I know I'm not the only one that thinks this.

It's a chore just to get though his commentating every week.

Maybe if they didn't put him in such boring segments and matches when the ratings would be better when he is on. I mean he is the definition of personality. The best thing to do, IMO would be to put him in a different feud. To be perfectly honest, The Punk vs Miz vs Del Rio storyline bores the hell out of me (mainly because I have no respect for Miz's Gimmick). All it is Miz and Del Rio coming out talking about how great they believe they are and Punk just telling them to shut up. I mean the best part of the whole storyline is watching Ricardo receiving a GTS at this point. They need to just give all three of them a new feud.

You must be thinking of 2004, where seemingly every main event was a tag or 6 man tag featuring Evolution.

Can anyone make any sense to this??? It's to signify the WWE playing Hot Potato with the title, you know giving it from one guy to another to another.
