Looking forward to this Matt. You know I'm a big fan of your work. Your past diaries have been beastly, so I'm hoping for the same here. Good luck.

ECW News and Notes: June 12, 2006
The feeling backstage is ECW: One Night Stand 2006 was a huge success.
There are no injuries coming out of last night, though Terry Funk and Mick Foley left “in excruciating pain.”
Speaking of Mick Foley, he is expected to continue working for ECW come the fall.
The feeling backstage is “anxious” as ECW’s premiere on Sci-Fi is now just one day away. It is being reported that Vince McMahon has heavily altered Paul Heyman’s script.

ECW on Sci-fi June 13, 2006 | Episode 001 Two nights ago, ECW redefined pay-per-view. One Night Stand ushered in a new era; Paul Heyman is in the Hammerstein Ballroom declaring "the tribe of extreme has risen again!" New faces promise to change the landscape forever; Kurt Angle and Big Show are shown. There was violence, blood, tears, and fire; A glance of Terry Funk bloodied, his forehead bandaged, wielding a 2x4 covered in barbwire. Briefly, Mick Foley is shown ablaze. Others tried to be extreme; John Cena smirks as his t-shirt is tossed back into the ring. And a new champion was crowned; Rob Van Dam is holding the WWE Championship high in the air. Let the bodies' hit the floorThe crowd is on their feet chanting "ECW" as Joey Styles welcomes us live to ECW on Sci-Fi from Trenton, New Jersey! Styles talks about how amazing it is to be back on national television and talks about the magnitude of this moment, before introducing the "Messiah of Extreme" Paul Heyman! Paul Heyman enters the ring to a standing ovation. He begins by discussing One Night Stand and how once again ECW revolutionized professional wrestling! He promises ECW will once again be the most original, innovative wrestling program in the world and the antiestablishment subculture will be bigger and better than ever before! Heyman gets down to business and invites WWE Champion Rob Van Dam to the ring. Mr. Tuesday Night strolls to the ring, welcomed by a huge "RVD" chant. Van Dam talks about his struggles over the years, how when ECW closed he never found the same level of success. And now ECW is back and so is the old Rob Van Dam, because he is now WWE Champion! Van Dam suddenly takes the WWE title and stares at it, before dropping it to the ground! Van Dam says that the WWE Championship represents everything he hates, it represents the company that has sucked the life out of professional wrestling, and is a title he wants nothing to do with! Heyman reaches into his jacket and pulls out the ECW Heavyweight Championship and presents it to Van Dam! RVD talks about how much this title means to him and how he plans on holding this title for a long, long time! Van Dam and Heyman begin to celebrate, until suddenly Rhyno hits the ring! He is standing behind Van Dam. Van Dam turns around - Gore! Gore! Gore! Rhyno stands tall over the ECW Heavyweight Champion, as a stunned Paul Heyman looks on. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- Joey Styles and Tazz are at ringside discussing the shocking return of Rhyno. In the back, Van Dam is in Paul Heyman’s office clearly aggravated over Rhyno”s attack. Heyman says Rhyno reminded the world of the beauty of ECW. That someone has the ability of make their own fame, to make a statement for themselves anyway possible. Heyman says he also forgot to mention that tonight their will be a 10 man battle royal to determine a number one contender for Rob Van Dam and the ECW Heavyweight Championship. Super Crazy versus Yoshihiro Tajiri At One Night Stand these two men were partners, but tonight they resume their historic rivalry. This lightening fast luchador match is a commentator’s worst enemy, but the crowd’s best friend. Super Crazy connects a beautiful springboard moonsault to the outside, the highspot of the match. Tajiri locks in the tarantula which severally weakens Crazy, and nearly finishes him with the buzzsaw kick. After a few more exchanges, Tajiri hits Crazy with green mist and finishes him with a brainbuster. Winner: Yoshihiro Tajiri | Pinfall | 10:12 | A- Following the match Tajiri helps Crazy up and hugs him to a standing ovation. Tajiri begins to walk away, but suddenly stops and levels Super Crazy with a roundhouse kick! Tajiri poses over Crazy, smirk smeared across his face. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- A recap of ECW: One Night Stand 2006 airs, reminding viewers they can buy the pay-per-view replay all week long! A short promo recaps Big Show deflecting to ECW last week, and his attack on the Full Bloodied Italians last Sunday. Show is standing in front of an ECW banner and promises tonight he will remind the world why “the World’s Largest Athlete is the World’s Most Dominant Athlete.” Al Snow w/ Head versus Big Show This match could be quick and painless, instead Big Show makes it a slaughtering. Show slaps Snow with several chair shots and tosses him the ring steps. Al Snow shines for a moment, when he kicks Show in the knee, causing him to hit the ring post. Show resumes control and eventually wins the match with a huge choke slam. Winner: Big Show | Pinfall | 4:30 | C- Following the match, Big Guido appears on stage staring at Show. He taunts coming down to the ring to face Show, but instead just walks to the back. A graphic hypes tonight’s huge main event. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- Joey Styles and Tazz remind viewers to purchase the Rise and Fall of ECW hardcover, now available at all major bookstores. “Enter Sandman” hits and the crowd erupts. Sandman appears in the crowd, Singapore Cane in hand, and cracks open a beer. The Sandman’s rather lengthy entrance allows Joey Styles and Tazz to remind viewers how important and absolutely brutal the Sandman is. Once Sandman hits the ring, the remaining competitors for the battle royal make their individual entrances. Balls Mahoney versus C.W Anderson vs Justin Credible versus Kurt Angle versus Little Guido versus Sabu versus Sandman versus Stevie Richards versus Tommy Dreamer versus Tony MamalukeVan Dam has joined Joey Styles and Tazz on commentary for this extreme bout. Balls Mahoney begins vicious swinging his chair, while Sandman swings his cane, together attacking everyman that moves. However, Balls Mahoney’s early advantage would not last long, as he was shockingly eliminated first by the combine efforts of Little Guido and Tony Mamaluke. The mayhem continues for a couple of minutes before finally C.W Anderson eliminates Justin Credible, and counters a surprise attack by the FBI to eliminate Tony Mamaluke. Kurt Angle eliminates Stevie Richards and Sandman tosses Little Guido out of the match. C.W Anderson continues a strong showing, before finally being eliminated by Tommy Dreamer. Angle, Sabu, Sandman, and Dreamer fight viciously against one another until finally Sandman is eliminated by Kurt Angle. Tommy Dreamer whacks Angle with a nasty chair shot, busting him wide open. Later, Sabu tries to eliminate Dreamer, but fails. Dreamer fights back Sabu and eliminates him, tossing him over the top rope and through a table on the outside [set up by Sabu before the match began.] Dreamer and Angle vigorously try to eliminate one another, but it is no easy task. After an Angle Slam onto a chair, Kurt Angle is able to toss Tommy Dreamer over the top rope to win the match. Winner: Kurt Angle | Elimination | 17: 36 | B+A bloody Kurt Angle falls to his knees in the center of the ring as Van Dam looks on from the announce table. Angle signals the ECW Heavyweight Championship will soon be around his waist, while Van Dam points to himself as the crowd yells “R-V-D”

ECW News and Notes: June 14, 2006
The debut episode of ECW on Sci-Fi seems to be a success, with an early rating estimate of 3.8
It is believed the show was heavily altered by Vince McMahon to fit a more traditional WWE Raw-esque format. It is believed Paul Heyman is pushing hard to escape any resemblance to WWE.
Many are still talking about the shocking debut of Rhyno last night. Rhyno's TNA contract had expired and he was working on a per-appearance basis. It is believe he officially signed a WWE/ECW contract last Saturday.
Depending of ratings, market research, and commercial success, there are talks of taping ECW from smaller arenas weekly. Another idea is to tape television shows during their weekly house show events.
Yoshihiro Tajiri is only signed to a short contract, to help ECW establish talent during these first few weeks.
For those wondering, Sandman was able to use "Enter Sandman" last night due to agreement reached between WWE and Metallica. No details on the exact agreement at this time.

I love the fact that you bought in Rhyno right away. I love this era for ECW, well, WWE-ECW, actually, the only era I liked.. It was fun while it lasted.
I hope you can build it into a monster.
Man, that Big Guido/Big Show is a recipe for disaster. Haha.

I loved ECW when it was reborn. I like seeing Rhyno in the company, he was always one of my favourite originals, and I'd love to see him hold the ECW Championship at some point. Giving Tajiri the victory is for the best with him only being a temporary talent on the brand. An obvious victory for Big Show over Al Snow. While Show/Big Guido would be a definite clash of the titans, I imagine it would be absolutely terrible in a match, haha. Amazing victory for Kurt Angle, and he should definitely stick around on ECW, he fit there so well as odd as it seems. I don't see him taking the ECW Championship this time around, but I do eventually. A good debut episode of ECW.

ECW on Sci-fi June 20, 2006 | Episode 002 Last week the revolution was reborn; Joey Styles is in the ring, “ Welcome everyone to ECW on Sci-Fi!” A new champion was crowned; P aul Heyman presents Rob Van Dam with the ECW Heavyweight Championship. The “Man Beast” Rhyno made his shocking return; Rhyno Gores Rob Van Dam. And a number one contender was crowned; Kurt Angle on his knees celebrating his victory. Let the bodies' hit the floorThe crowd is on their feet chanting “ECW” as Joey Styles welcomes us to ECW on Sci-Fi live from Albany, New York! Tonight we will hear from Rhyno. Big Show will be in action. But first, please welcome Kurt Angle! Kurt Angle makes his way to the ring to a loud ovation. Angle talks about how important ECW is to him, and how it represents everything he stands for as a professional wrestler. Last week, he won the right to face Rob Van Dam for the ECW Heavyweight Championship, and there is not a doubt in anyone’s mind that he will beat RV... Kurt Angle is cut off by the ECW Heavyweight Champion himself, as Mr. Tuesday Night makes his way to the ring to a stellar crowd reaction. Rob Van Dam talks about how great Kurt Angle is, but there is only one R-V-D! Van Dam continues that he respects Kurt Angle, but there is no way he is going to beat him and win the ECW Heavyweight Championship! Angle laughs and says Rob Van Dam is good, but he needs to stay off the grass if he thinks he can beat him. Angle says it is going to be one hell of a match regardless, and offers to shake Van Dam’s hand. Van Dam shakes Angle’s hand, but suddenly, Angle spins Van Dam around - Angle Slam! The crowd is in shock as Kurt Angle walks to the back, a fallen Rob Van Dam left in the ring. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- In his office, Paul Heyman recaps Kurt Angle’s attack on Rob Van Dam. He says he is dying to see these two men in the ring now, so tonight’s main event will pit Kurt Angle and a partner of his choosing, against Van Dam and a partner of his choice. “Enter Sandman” hits and the crowd goes insane. The coolest entrance in professional wrestling is the only time you will see a wrestler bleeding and drunk before his match begins. C.W Anderson versus SandmanLast week, C.W Anderson had an impressive showing in the battle royal, but this week he is looking for a victory. The match is a traditional brawl and quickly falls to the outside. Both men are thrown into steel steps, guardrails, and ring posts. Sandman whacks Anderson with a few cane shots, but eventually Anderson counters with a vicious chair shot. Later, C.W Anderson connects with a beautiful spinebuster onto the bottom half of the steel steps, to pin Sandman for the victory. Winner: C.W Anderson | Pinfall | 7:45 | BRhyno is arriving in the parking lot. Justin Roberts attempts to get a word with him, but Rhyno blows him off. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- A vignette airs hyping the Straight-Edge C.M Punk! Joey Styles and Tazz remind viewers to purchase the Rise and Fall of ECW hardcover, now available at all major bookstores. Backstage, Kurt Angle is frantically looking for a tag team partner. Big Show versus Balls Mahoney Balls strikes early with a few punches, and plants a nasty chair shot across Show’s back, but Show quickly takes advantage of the match. Show hits his usually moves, before putting Balls aways with a chokeslam. Winner: Big Show | Pinfall | 2:15 | N/AFollowing the match The Full Bloodied Italians (Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke, Big Guido, and Trinity) hit the ring. Big Show tries to fight off the assault, but the FBI quickly becomes too much to handle. They knock Show to the ground. Mamaluke and Big Guido than raise Show by his arms, as Little Guido climbs to the second rope and curb-stomps his head into the mat! Backstage, Van Dam is shown with Sabu and are heading towards the ring. ---------- COMMERCIAL BREAK ----------- Tommy Dreamer is talking with Sandman backstage. C.W Anderson walks by and taunts the duo. Kurt Angle versus Rob Van Dam and Sabu It appears Kurt Angle was unable to find a tag team partner, so the match has become a handicap match. The match is highly competitive. Van Dam and Sabu control a slight advantage, but Angle is able to maintain a steady offense. Van Dam and Sabu set up a table on the corner of the ring. Sabu tries for an Air Sabu to Angle through the table, but is attacked before he reaches the chair to jump. A few minutes later, Angle is down and Van Dam is looking to connect with a Five Star Frog Splash, but Angle gets his knees up! Both men are down and crawling towards their respective corners. Suddenly, out of the crowd Rhyno appears and hops on Angle’s corner. Angle tags in Rhyno, Van Dam tags in Sabu... Gore through the table! Sabu is down. Van Dam stumbles to his feet...GORE! RVD is down. Angle enters the ring...GORE! Angle is down. Everyone is out as Rhyno stands tall in the ring. No Contest | 10:12 | B+Following the match, Rhyno picks up a microphone. He cannot believe he actually needs to explain the situation. Rhyno claims he is the true ECW Heavyweight Champion, and no one is going to steal that away from him!

Love you bringing in Rhyno for this right away and making him a big deal by Goring Van Dam. Decent enough contest to open up ECW. A heel Tajiri with a push could be a great thing, looking forward to it. Big Show vs Snow was what it was a solid attempt to make Show look like a monster, don't really care much for an FBI feud with Show though. Nice battle royal, glad you made Dreamer look strong and Angle coming out on top with a match against RVD should be Ace.
Good stuff man, look forward to more.

Didn't even see you had a new show, sorry dude.
Anyway, an obvious situation to open us up with Kurt Angle and the ECW World Champion, Rob Van Dam. Wasn't expecting the Angle Slam at all, but I love it. A nice Tag Team Main Event made for later tonight; I wonder who they'll choose as their partners. Wow, C.W. Anderson with a victory... that's unusual for WWECW, haha, but glad to see it. An obvious victory for the Big Show over Balls Mahoney, but I loved the unexpected FBI attack, really makes them look like the dominant team that they are. Fantastic Main Event, and really 'ECW' of you to have Kurt Angle actually fail to find a tag team partner, showing that ECW doesn't always go according to plan. Rhyno joining as Angle's partner was great, but I loved the shocker of Rhyno destroying everyone in the ring, rendering the match a No Contest. Addressing Rhyno as the true ECW World Champion is great since he was in fact the last Champion of the original ECW.
I absolutely love this diary, keep it up, Matt.

ECW News and Notes: June 21, 2006
The second episode of ECW on Sci-Fi saw a slight .3 rating increase, for a final rating of 3.83
Vince McMahon seems pleased with the product; Paul Heyman is content, but wishing to make the product more edgy.
TNA Wrestler Abyss has signed with WWE after Paul Heyman and Rhyno heavily pushed for the star. WWE has been looking at several TNA talents lately as many only have per-appearance open contracts.

Big Show injured? 6/24/06 8:11 PM
We just received word that Big Show was carried away by stretcher at tonight's live event. Show was wrestling Little Guido. Big Guido interfered and hit Show with a nasty chairshot. Audience members are reporting that Show seemed to just collapse thereafter, falling out of the ring to exposed concrete. The match quickly ended as many officials, agents, and medics rushed out.
Big Show Injury Update 6/25/06 12:10 AM
Big Show's injury seems very legitimate. He is currently in a local Pennsylvania hospital receiving medical attention.
Big Show Out 1 year 6/25/06 12:00 PM
WWE has posted a message concerning Big Show's injury.
"Last night, June 24, 2006, at an ECW Live Event, Big Show was injured. Full details cannot be released at this time; however, a neck injury may leave Big Show incapable of competing for 12 months. Any audience member attending this Tuesday's ECW television taping is elligible for a refund due to Big Show's abscence. We wish him luck in having a speedy recovery."

Hmm somehow I must've missed the second show amongst me replying to the first anyhoo.
ECW on Sci-Fi 2 - Decent promo between Angle and RVD to open the show, nothing overly special just some basic hype. I prefer Sandman to CW Anderson, Anderson always struck me as someone with limited upside. But if you're going to take on that task of pushing him then I'm intrigued to see how you go about it. Isn't a vinaigrette a salad dressing, haha. But nice to see you bring in CM Punk and look forward to his push. Big Show over Balls was kind of meh filler, the post match assault by FBI was good and now you can make them look like a threat by playing off they put Show out of action. Nice main event with Angle taking on Sabu & RVD. Ooh loved Rhyno coming out as Angle's partner and then loved Rhyno taking out everyone and standing tall and laying his claim to the ECW Title.
Overall I was feeling a bit meh after reading it until I got to the main event stuff which was just great. Good stuff and hopefully you can build some interesting stuff for the undercard in the future. Keep it up.

ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 13th June 2006...Paul Heyman kicking off the show was the obvious way to go with the first edition of ECW. Rob Van Dam then getting invited out; not so much directed from real life, but regardless it did the job in putting RVD over as the ECW World Champion and WWE Champion. Rhyno jumping RVD was nice though, I expect an encore of their previous matches early in the decade, I mean Rhyno was the last man to hold the title before ECW went under. Yoshihiro Tajiri beating Super Crazy was fine, solid way to open up the show. The Big Show beating Al Snow was quite foreseeable. I hope Show doesn't get too far in ECW honestly, I hated his 2006 run. Additionally, don't constantly job out all of the ECW Originals like Al Snow and Justin Credible. Big Guido's appearance was nice to see though. Keep the Full Blooded Italians strong! Sandman's entrance going long was a nice touch. Seemed like a pretty lacklustre battle royal to main event the show really. Kurt Angle, Sabu, Sandman and Tommy Dreamer it seemed like it would come down to. And they were the final four. Kurt Angle with the win seemed so obvious in my eyes. RVD no-selling the Gore from Rhyno though? Hate that. In the old ECW, Rhyno would have fought RVD tonight for the belt. Not too fond of this starter show.
ECW on Sci-Fi: Tuesday 20th June 2006...Kurt Angle kicking off the show was a nice way to kick off, and the first match between Angle and Rob Van Dam (in what I'm hoping becomes a recurring series) for the ECW World Heavyweight Championship is a classic. Angle bettering RVD I didn't like so much though. CW Anderson beating Sandman was a strange decision, and I didn't like that it went nearly eight minutes either. Anderson wasn't all that great in my eyes. CM Punk debuting soon eh? Don't rush him up to the main event please. Big Show beating Balls Mahoney I didn't like at all. Did like the attack from Little Guido, Tony Mamaluke, Big Guido and Trinity however. Up next, I didn't like the thought of a handicap match, but good way to get Kurt Angle's new, fresh personality over against Rob Van Dam and Sabu. Is RVD a heel now or something? This feud is confusing me. Liked Rhyno getting involved. Interested in what is coming next, a decent show, improvement from the premiere.
