Its a great figure. I love it. And I think its cool to get a variety of characters from different eras, whether from the 80's, attitude era, and after that. My only complaint with Booker Ts fig is that it would of been cool if his crown was polished like the belts that come with like andre and dm bret hart. not a big deal tho

King Booker was in the 2008 WWE video game. So that gimmick is barely 5 yrs old. lol, he won the King of the Ring in May 2006, that's 6 years as of next month.

I've been saying since they announced his fig that they should have done a Booker T from the final WCW Nitro w/ both the WCW and US Titles. The upper body is also WAY to big for Booker. The guy was never that big. Should have used an upper body similar to Sheamus.

I did not like the Edge or Booker flashbacks but that is what mattel did and as far as I am concerned the flashbacks are legend figures so I have all 6 flashbacks from series 12-15 because I am a legend only collector. Big Boss Man is the best flashback so far because he goes with Akeem for the twin towers.

Think about it; what have they said is the main reason Flashbacks/Legends don't sell well? Kids generally don't buy them. With this one, many kids probably remember the gimmick, and therefore would be more inclined to buy it. And, to them, it's most definitely a Flashback, considering the King Booker gimmick might have been featured half of their lifetime ago. I think it's a very smart idea, and I for one loved the King Booker gimmick. I can say, that had it been Harlem Heat Booker, I most likely wouldn't buy it. I don't really have any connection to that version of his character.

I wasn't a huge fan of the King Booker gimmick, but the figure looks sweet!

I don't think it was about which era Booker was "worthy", it was a matter of making a marketable and successful action figure. King Booker as an action figure is much more interesting and appealing then Harlem Heat Booker. Mattel said they love to see wrestlers with props/gimmicks because it gives them a chance to create cool and unique figures. This is one of those figures.

King Booker was a great idea. Awesome accessories and it's one of the best figures Mattel has done so far. agreed

My nephew didn't remember anything about Booker, only that he won king of the ring and even though he hated him at the time, he's a fan now.

It was a good choice. Obviously they wanted to include Booker as a flashback which he does qualify for, but then when it came to attire they thought the King gimmick would make for the best looking figure and it also fits well as a current day Booker T so in general its a crowd pleaser with a good balance.

I imagine the reasoning to do it goes like this:
Legends failed, now they know they have to play it safe with the premium retail "classic" figures. King Booker is instantly recognizable as Booker T to anyone who has been a fan of the last several years. By this token, they also could have done straight up Booker T, but the Elite line enabled them to add the extra accessories they otherwise wouldn't, so it made sense to use his king motif over a standard WHC or something of the sort.
If they would've done WCW Harlem Heat Booker in the long flame tights, it probably would've done okay, but I doubt it would've sold better that King Booker. Logos aside, it's basically Booker T's established look anyhow. I hope to see Harlem Heat (or at least just Booker) sometime myself, but I don't mind the King version coming out first. In the mean time, hopefully they do a modern day Booker in a 2-pack with Cody or something.

Other than a Harlem Heat version it's the only Booker T I'd want.

I agree, i definately wanted a Harlem Heat Booker figure....I collect only Classic/Legend figures, for me its anything pre 2001, (pre WWF/WCW merge)....I also wanted to mention that its funny how Mattel is having a hard time selling there legends line, however the andre and rockers are sold out on matty collector....which if its true, is great news for those, like me, who are hoping to get the classic line re-instated in retail stores...I spoke to a couple Mattel WWE representatives one day at a local walmart....they were checking out the WWE figures , taking pictures, etc and i asked, 'Do you guys collect wrestling figures?' and they replied that they worked for Mattel's WWE line....Well , i ended up talking to them for quite a while , and they pretty much told me , what everyone knows, that the legends line just didnt sell well...The funny thing for me is that (and i told them) I had a hard time finding certain figures from series 3, 4, 5, and 6....Everyone knows series 2 was a bust (from a selling standpoint) , because although i like series 2, they just didn't sell and were stuck on the shelves FOREVER....but then series 3, i didn't really ever see a Mr Perfect or Rock figures ( i had to get those online) and for 4, it was the same with demolition and warrior....same with Macho for series 5, and warrior and eddie guerrero from series 6.....anyways, long story short, even though Mattel says that the legends line didn't sell well, someone is buying these figures, because i really had a hard time finding a lot of them...Well im really excited for the flashback line, which i hope they keep putting in REAL flashback worthy wrestlers...no more edges and king bookers......I wanna see 80's....early 90's ....and even NWO era/ Attitude era figures....I know that others wanna see the same! Well, im a long time watcher, first time poster on this forum, and ill be around now from now on....thanks!
Hope to see some more good legends/classic figures soon!
P.S. and whats the deal with the jakks tna classics? Did they just give up or what?

Mattel should have released any Booker T from his time in WCW since that's the only Booker T I'm interested in at the moment!

flashbacks aren't necessarily legends, and theres really no guidelines for what can be included, so I don't see why Booker doesn't deserve it. A lot of people wanted a Booker T anyways, and I agree, it was the best way to get some accessories with it. It's a sick figure and I can't wait to get it.

Although it may or may not be a worthy Flashback, I would definitely pick up a King Booker figure without a thought because it was such a good figure.

In my opinion, if a wrestler is off the active roster, ANY era of their career is fair game for a figure. The E13 Edge is one of my most-hunted for figures right now, because it's a representation of the E&C period.

Mattel made the right choice in releasing King Booker. Its a much-sought after figure nowadays. Personally, I would have preferred a WCW Harlem Heat version but can't complain with King Booker. It's an awesome figure.

Who defines what era a flashback has to be ? People are never happy on this board... Stop moaning and just be happy that the spot went to someone who was never done before and it wasn't another repaint of Orton, Mysterio or Kofi. It's a damn good figure.. Buy it and enjoy it!
