What's up everyone?
I am just curious to know if anyone here collects figures with their son or basically buys most of their figures for their son?
I have to admit my son has really got me addicted to figure hunting. I live off the adrenaline of finding a new figure on the pegs. It's a really cool experience that I can share with my son.
My boy is 5 years old and loves watching WWE. We have been collecting since July 2011.
When I was a kid, I collected a lot of the Jakks Superstar series figures
I also had a ton of LJN and Hasbros that were handed down to me from my older brother.
Well, my biggest mistake was selling all my Jakks figures from 1996-2000 and all accessories I had for $100 on Craigslist. This was before my son was able to actually play with action figures.
I had my son at a rather young age. I am 23 and he is 5. I have a really close bond with him and WWE and figure collecting adds more to it!
If it was up to me, I'd be a MOC only collector, but as soon as we purchase any figures, he's so eager to play with them. I can't blame him. Although he's only 5 years old, he is really meticulous with his accessories and figure organization. He understands that if he ever loses any accessories or figures, then I am less likely to buy him any other figures.
My son loves to browse through eBay and RSC looking for figures and new releases. He understands that some are really hard to find. (We are looking hard for King Booker!)
Here are some videos I posted on YouTube of him. Excuse his mispronunciation of words and names. He gets really excited when he's being recorded or talking about his figures or WWE in general.

Aw man, this was such a great read! While I'm only 19, I do have a strong desire to one day have kids with whom I share a special relationship, and with both wrestling and action figures being a big part of who I am, I can only hope to have the kid of relationship with my kids as you do. Again, it was great reading this and watching your son and his enthusiasm! You truly have something special there buddy!

A collection buddy! I know what you mean. If I had a kid, we'd be rushing TRUs and WalMarts all day, everyday. Lol. I have recently been in a different kind of a figure hunt for Monster High dolls for my girlfriends little sisters ages 5 and 7. So I can relate. I wish they'd be so meticulous as your son. When they play with my collection of WWE stuff, I'll find out that my macho man's glasses are lost or John Cena's dog tags have disappeared and Undertaker will have a beautiful white mark all over his chest. I really don't mind, but the child in me rages. haha.

That's awesome. on one hand your had to sell your OLD figure collection so you could make way for the new collection that you and your son can share.

Every time my wife and I go shopping for home essentials or groceries, the first thing I do is head over to the toy section, whether my son is with me or not. I really enjoy bringing him a surprise home! He bursts with a bright smile whenever I say "Guess what I have for you?"

However, I wish I could have kept the accessories. I had a ton of different things back from the Early Jakks years. I didn't really know accessories sold for so much. I saw a similar lot sell on eBay for over $140. I was never figure savvy until I started hunting for guys last year. Then I started reading and researching about prices and rarities and all that stuff.

I buy Rumblers for my son, and give him my doubles of elites and basics. My son doesn't really have any interest for rumblers. We only have a few of his favorites like Cm Punk, Sheamus, John Cena and the Undertaker. I definitely want to get the Brodus Clay rumbler if I ever find it. I usually sell any doubles when we upgrade to Elite versions or newer elites. I throw them on eBay and buy him other figures he doesn't have. He's more about completing the Roster than collecting Every figure of the same wrestler.

It was so great reading this. I just had a son on May 4th and I keep telling my girlfriend that's what me and him are gonna do. Of course she doesn't understand the excitement I express, but I can't wait till he's older and get him into it too.
