TNA Hall of Fame inductee Sting recently did an interview for The UK Sun, and had the following to say about his near-WWE signing and who he would have faced if the signing had taken place:
"I was close to signing with the WWE. I'd have faced Undertaker at WrestleMania. It wasn't to be and we couldn't come to an agreement. He was the only person I'd want to wrestle there. I'd like to fight Undertaker, but here in TNA I think I could go well with some of the younger guys too. Especially a guy like Magnus."

I guess Im the only person that has absolutely no desire to see Sting vs Taker. I really dont understand how this is a "dream match" when neither of them have anything in common except they both wear black and are old.

I love 'Taker, and he always puts on show-stealing matches at WrestleMania. However, I have zero interest in seeing him face Sting. |

I do quite resent Sting for his choice to never come to the WWE. The deal they were making must not have been relating to money, as i'm sure they offered him more than he'd get working for TNA, he just chickened out that he would run the risk of not being a top dog and really, the only people to suffer from it were the fans. The dream matches he could have had in that time frame against Taker, HBK, HHH, Austin, Rock, Cena, Orton, Jericho, Guerrero, (while they were at the top) Lesnar, Edge etc, all because he was worried the ball would be dropped.

In no way shape or form should Stings first (and possibly only) match in WWE be a loss to The Undertaker. |

Taker/Sting NEEDS to happen. Weather Sting likes it or not he needs that one run in the WWE to solidify his career and i know im going to get flack for that statement but with what he is doing right now in TNA it is only hurting his legacy much like it did to Hogan and Flair. Had Sting retired after WCW closed then ok he'd be one of the greatest of all time but this TNA run is only down-grading him and he needs to have a run in the WWE against Taker or Punk to cement the legacy he built in WCW.

If Vince and Dixie can negotitate for a Flair/Christian swap....why not step and do a deal for Sting? From January to March....Sting can work WWE. Vince can pony up the dough to make it worth Sting's time and TNA gets someone of equal caliber from August to October for BFG.

sting probably doesnt want to go the way of goldberg.
he has stated before that he simply does not trust the wwe with the sting character.

In fact, given recent matches, getting to face The Undertaker at WM is pretty much one of the biggest honours you can get in the WWE right now. The outcome of the match would not be the important thing, it would have been the build up and the quality of the match. Given the fact he's been in TNA for so long, I doubt it would have been his only match, and it would in no way, be jobbing. |
