The argument about how it would sell doesn't work though. Mattel said that almost all of the Legends underperformed. Yet the flashbacks have done quite well so far. I don't he would be the best seller of the line, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't do well. That said, maybe RSC would be the best place for him. I don't care how he is released though, I want this figure. Its reasoning like this that makes me believe that Magnum could/would be successful. You have to think, put in a Flashback package he's going to sell to the people that want him, the people that buy complete sets on RSC and other sites, he'll sell to the older collector who may not be members of this website but will see it in stores, will sell to the parents who randomly buy figures for their kids thinking "i dont think he has this guy" and then obviously he'll sell to scalpers looking to make an extra dollar. In turn if you do as previously stated and short pack the hell out of him like Yokozuna is. I would be HIGHLY HIGHLY surprised if you saw more then 1 figure at a store of him warming a peg. I would bet more money there would be Flex Force or a Randy Orton on the pegs first.

It would be awesome if TRU had it's own Exclusive Legends Line with 4 figures per series with a BAF. If TRU priced it at $12.99, it would sell great! I know I'm dreaming and just can't grasp with no more Legends on Matty next year.
I'm just sad there isn't more collectors out there buying this stuff but there is so much stuff out there to collect from Hot Toys, to DC to Marvel, just too much stuff out there.

I think a $12.99 price point is unreasonable, but I'd absolutely love for Mattel to test the waters with a "Best of 2012" series involving Legends at TRU. Instead of doing those god awful, widely released "Best of" series that clog shelves, do a "Best of Flashbacks" exclusive to TRU. Start it out as a way to give fans a better shot at these ultra-rare FB figures that have become a chore to find. If it works, then Mattel could maybe branch out even more with the Flashback moniker, and eventually start squeezing in older names with less worry. Mattel has worked on getting more precautionary policies in action for figures they deem "tough sells". That, combined with these being exclusive to a single store chain, could be beneficial for the line.

This has been a pretty fun topic to read through and I am for sure on the side of releasing this figure. I love the idea of doing as part of a BAF series so people will need to buy him to complete whatever figure's piece he would come with.

Id be worried that if they put magnum in a baf, that they would never be allowed to put another legend in a BAF again. Even if you needed all 4 guys to baf , I still think he would warm shelves. He is a collector driven want. Matty doesn't have faith in Diesel/Nash WWF WCW TNA World champ to put him at anything other than 1 per case and i believe .5 Revision case then a guy like Magnum should not be in retail. The best thing to do would be to make him some sort of online exclusive or some sort of promotional deal like a mail away. Matty already pumped out lots of early 80's guys in retail by Legends and unfortunatly it didnt work for us like we hoped. Too bad they wouldnt put him on M.C but i understand why they cant.

Why not make him as a Basic Exclusive? It would be such an easy switch to Elite. and cheaper to make/sell

RSC exclusive or lets all forget about him.
I need want a figure properly put together, not a BAF. BAF is good for announcers and managers, but please no wrestlers!
That said, i'd love to have Magnum in my collection. He had a really cool cowboy look, and was a pretty damn good wrestler. I absolutely love his matches with Tully Blanchard.

For those of you that say, "I dont know who Magnum TA is" or "He never did anything good" just take 18minutes out of your life and watch this match. Honestly just trust me on it. Especially if you grew up in the attitude era and you like cage matches, blood, weapons and violence....Just watch.

I mean make magnum TA an actual figure, just include an essential part for a BAF. ie Teddy Long or John Laurenitis' head.

It was probably the first match I ever saw featuring Magnum. First one I remember anyway.

Like I said yesterday make him part of a TRU BAF set. That way he's limited quantities as he's only at TRU. And if you put him in the BAF set it forces the people who would normally pass on him to pick him up to complete whoever the BAF figure is. It worked with DC and their BAF lines there were a couple clunkers I bought just so I could finish the BAF

I think ringside would have to pick up the slack here if you really want to be honest, I'd love a Magnum TA fig but it isn't going to happen unless it's a Ringside Exclusive, same goes for the cancled nWo Giant figure. Both would have been great releases but I don't see it happening anytime soon. On the note of cancled Legends figures, that Austin in jean shorts would be great too but again I don't see them dipping into cancled figures. It's just not Mattles priority, sorry to say

I'm half on half wanting the figure because it's absolutly brilliant and wanting Magnum TA as part of my collection.
Like I said I'd never heard of the guy until he was rumoured to be in Legends 7 then I did my research and the figures perfect.

ha thanks for dragging up that thread where I went near-crazy in the end advocating for a Magnum T. A. figure release! I can't help but feel that the folks that don't want Magnum to be released because he's a "nail in the coffin" are being very cynical. We always talk about at the end of the day Mattel is a business and it's all about making profit/money which I completely agree with. The flip-side is at the end of the day we're all collectors that want to throw money at Mattel for figures we want. Our collective voices were heard loud enough for SES Punk, why can't we as a collector group rally for this already-proto-typed Magnum T. A.? I'm not a big SES Punk lover, but I supported that cause.
