The first couple of episodes are very boring, so don't let that discourage. But once the action picks up, it gets good.

Thank you haha was gonna say, ep 1 was abit boring, the kid needs to stop  ing crying. I liked the guy who punked out Piccolo, he seems pretty badass. Not gonna lie, really thought this was the theme  |

Not gonna lie, really thought this was the theme That was the theme song when it aired on Cartoon Network, I believe. A lot of the older DVD's had it, but the box sets don't. |

If you don't want to wait for Manga to trundle the whole of the rest of the series out, the American Funimation release works on R2 players/UK PS3s. The whole series has been out for a couple of years now.
The only difference is that they're in boxes like the 3-disc WWE sets...and the American releases are a couple of quid cheaper. They came with a nice book too...but I'm not sure if the Manga releases do, so maybe ignore that.

It mostly features Gohan's training. |

The Gohan and Piccolo subplot is definitely one of my favourite arcs in the show. Gohan's a great character no doubt, but it's Piccolo who does it for me. One of the best anime characters for sure.

So Season 1 is pretty much filler of Goku and Gohan training for when the Saiyans show up? there is..well alot of filler in DBZ... i read because they needed filler because Toriyama was still doing the manga at the time and had to wait for him to finish issues before making the episodes based on the issue. so unless you are watching KAI,.. prepare for alot of filler. |

Not sure I'd call it filler, more just build up. There are some filler episodes in DBZ (I remember one of the first episodes I ever saw was one where Goku and Piccolo learn how to drive haha) but there is also a good number of episodes where yeah, they're training and not a lot seems to be going on, but it all adds to the character development and builds the tension. For me, it only gets bad around the time when Goku first goes Super Saiyan. Swear to god that fight was like 50 episodes.

Disk 2 and 14 episodes down Gohan is less of a cry baby but he's still pretty annoying, Goku and the snakeway are getting boring at this point, though I do like that they changed it up abit and have him fall off and meet the ogres, I was going to flip the out if he had to do the snakeway agan from the start, 5 episodes worth of it, but fortunately they sped it up. Not really liking the Z warriors or the girl who changes when she sneezes and I'm not sure what to think of the Saiyans after their ep where they were made to look like heroes on Arlia Gonna watch disk 3 and the next 7 episodes tomorrow |

I noticed a little continuity error too, in the ep where Goku goes to that mirage palace with the Snake princess, he runs past the snakeway sweeper, and the sweeper says "thats the guy who I gave a lift to the other day" Then when Goku is offered food he says he hasn't eaten in over 3 months because he ate the fruit from under the clouds. So he'd been running on the snakeway for over 3 months Why do I get the feeling that the Z warriors are gonna get destroyed by the Saiyans haha even though with Goku/Gohan and Piccolo it'll be 10 on 2 |
