oh christ, I remember the snake road thing. It goes from delightfully charming to ridiculously boring very fast. I seem to remember the manga handling it much more swiftly. Definitely not as convoluted and drawn out.
Also, can we make this the Official Dragonball Z thread? Since this thread I've had the nagging itch to start the show from the beginning and re-read the Dragon Ball manga. So awesome to see so many fans of the franchise on this forum, I'm willing to bet this show was a lot of people's childhoods like it was mine!

There was nothing I enjoyed more than to watch Dragon Ball Z Friday nights on YTV.
Still remember how excited I was during every saga. The filler didn't really bother me as a kid.

I used to come home from school every day and rush to the TV just so I could watch Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z during the Toonami block on Cartoon Network. Was my favorite show as a child, but unfortunately, I only had the opportunity to watch the Majin Buu story arc. I decided to buy all of the season sets and I watched every episode. It was definitely worth it.
And I second the notion of making this an official DBZ thread. There's enough fans on here to keep a decent discussion going.

I consider Dragon Ball Z and Toonami my childhood, and I'd be all in favor for an official thread. And I love a lot of the fillers of DBZ; Goku and Piccolo getting there driver's license is still hilarious to me; The Strangest Robot was great, and of course Pikkon came from fillers, and he's awesome.

I still watch Dragonball Z every now and then for nostalgia but it has to be with the Canadian dub actors since that's what I grew up with. Scott McNiel's Piccolo and Brian Drummond's Vegeta can't be beat IMO. The first three movies that Funimation did with the Ocean cast are really awesome and it's a crime they didn't get to dub the rest.

I first saw DBZ on syndacated Television which was the version from the canadian dub.... my UPN station on Sunday mornings, WAY before toonami ever did.. but of course it went up to abotu halfway through the Freiza stuff... so I'm glad toonami did pick it up as I finished the rest of the series throguh toonami,.. weekday afternoons. |

Just finished disk 3, 21 episodes down  Finally the end of the  ing snakeway, 12 episodes he was on that for.  its over haha thank god, I liked the King Kai character he was really funny imo and I liked how he gave more of a backstory to the Saiyans. Piccolo/Gohan are ok right now, not the best thing in the show but not the worst. Thank god that the Saiyans have finally reached earth, really can't wait for the story to pick up now, I assume that its going to be full force with the action now because theres only 17 episodes left. |

Be ready for some long battles! as well as the wait for Goku to arrive! I was fine with the Raditz/Goku/Piccolo battle and that lasted like 3/4 episodes and Kai said it'd only take 2 days for Goku to get back, that's like 2/3 episodes max right? |

Is there an offical TeamFourStar thread too? I'm sure a lot of the fans here have heard of it and watched it so a thread about it would be cool. After seeing all the serious stuff in the Anime it is always fun to see how TFS replicates it  |

Dragon Ball Kai is like a directors cut of the series that cuts out alot of the filler and other parts to fit more like the old manga,.. it aired in japan about two or three years ago. It was made for the 20th anniversarry of DBZ in 2009. The opening i posted was from the Cell Games Saga which is near the end of DBZ, but the openign has alot of the Sayian saga stuff in it. the show had a new opening made for it in HD goodness. Thoguh I would not be against them remaking the series in HD aniamtion lol Here is the first version of Dragonball Kai's opening. ( thoguh it does show Frieza from the frieza saga. (which is BEAST btw) |
