I honestly wasn't too afraid when I first heard the news from Cole. I thought, Ah King will be fine. He probably just got a little too heated from his match and passed out.
But towards the end of the show, I started to get more worried. And I thought something was terribly wrong just by Cole's tone of voice. I am definitely shooken up by all of this. Especially after hearing he was lifeless for 20 minutes! #PrayForLawler.

I don't think anybody is that stupid. I don't know, I've been on wrestling boards for a few years now, and I've seen some really, and I mean really stupid people. I was around these boards when people thought Eddie's death was fake and he was going to return at Wrestlemania :/

Hell I remember some people talking, thinking that Kevin Sullivan killed Benoit and his family, and framed Benoit, because of the personal history, and because of Sullivan's cult character from his Florida days.

Wow, is that really true about him being dead? This is nuts.
Edit- I meant about him being dead for 20 minutes.

That is crazy how people can be brought back to life that long after they are dead. I really really hope he pulls through.

Absolutely crazy to watch the whole thing unfold. Total coincidence that the camera angle happened to show the announce table when he actually collapsed. I watched Raw late tonight because of the football, so I was vaguely aware of what had happened going in. Still, so eerie and surreal.
The rest of the broadcast clearly suffered, and it was incredibly strange to hear everything without commentary. Almost felt like I was part of the live audience.
Regardless, best wishes to Lawler. I know a lot of us here aren't exactly fans of his, but it's good to see that no one is childish enough to let that get in the way of hoping he pulls through and makes a full recovery.

I don't think we should speculate or start spreading around rumors that aren't true that are going to freak everyone out until we have actual confirmation.
Medically, if your brain is deprived of oxygen for longer than 6 minutes, you're looking at permanent life threatening damage....if the RUMOR of him not breathing for 20 minutes is actually true,...well, let's just say that's NOT good.
Hopefully the rumors are not true and Jerry will be ok.

I dont think it actually shows him passing out. When you hear him breathing deep and snorting the camera is on Titus. By the time the camera swings over you can see Cole bent over looking down in the floor at Lawler. When looking that the desk straight a head, Lawler had recently been sitting on the left side but tonight after the match he was on the right side. Creepy thinking that he could have been on camera having a heart attack though.

Yes we better hope that the news of him being dead for 20 minutes is just a false rumor. Because if that is the case then its doubtful he will be able to fully recover =/

If he was dead for 20 minutes, wouldn't his brain be badly damaged? Genuinely asking because I don't know.
I seriously hope not.

I could see that he may have been clinically dead, but 20 minutes doesn't seem right. 20 minutes and I think he'd basically be a vegetable.

I never saw Over The Edge, so this was my first experience of an event like this. I can honestly say that I felt very odd watching the show continue when I wasn't sure if Lawler was still alive. The lack of commentary on this show was one of the most eerie things that I have ever witnessed on television; Cole breaking character was very surreal. I was distracted, so it didn't register that King wasn't speaking until Cole's initial report. I rewound to the last time I head Lawler speak, his voice grew quiet, and then I heard the wheezing. I have always found sound to have a unique affect, almost moreso than imagery. That wheezing was just horrifying after knowing what had occur. I must say, I found it difficult to stay focused, though the Montreal fans seemed to have little trouble. I don't know what I would have done if I was there, but sitting at home watching on TV I really couldn't get into the storylines. A very odd night indeed.

FYI, Bret Hart's brother Smith was the one who said he had a friend backstage at RAW who told him Jerry was dead for 20 minutes. Here's the full Tweet:
“According to my friend Jeremy Prophet who was backstage at RAW, Jerry was clinically dead for 20 min before being brought back by defibrilator.”
