i just copied from my facebook status "just got word that my grandpa just passed away,he had been battling stage 4 cancer. i am numb, hes had it for several months we knew it would happen, in a way it helped prepare me for this but i dont think it has sunk in just yet. i am his only grandkid to go to college,so that puts a pretty big burden on my back and take it that way to do the best i can, i push myself because of that. i get my love of politics and history from him and could always talk about that with him when we got to see him,he was usually the only one who cared about those things i know he was in pain and in a way im glad hes not hurting and suffering anymore, and he is now in heaven. i didnt go and see him this weekend because i couldnt see him in that bad of shape. i didnt want that to be the last image of my grandpa i see. so if i am kinda distant and spacey around campus thats why. i dont mean to be pushy or mad or distant but thats how i usually deal with things. this is the first major death in my family that has effected me personally. i cant even hardly see the screen while im typing" he was the only grandpa i knew,my dads dad abandon his family so my moms dad grandpa jack was the only one i had. this is extremely hard if you are going to be a dick dont even post i dont want to deal with any of you mother ers tonight.

Sorry to hear. Always hard to lose a grandparent, especially when you were close. Lost both my grandfather's when I was real young, but lost my last grandmother, almost two years ago, this December.
I get what you're talking about, not wanting to see him in pain. The last time I saw my grandmother, was the Thanksgiving before she died, and she was fine. After that, she was in the hospital, and I couldn't bring myself to visit, because she wasn't herself, and I wanted my last memory of her, as I always remembered her. The numb feeling is normal, but trust me, at one point it will really hit you and hit you hard.

I remember hearing once, a statement that I can understand. While, yes, you should be sad, be a tiny bit happy about the sadness. He had to be a good grandfather, and person to be able to make you this sad of his loss. And be happy you got to have him in your life for as long as you did too.

Atleast you got the amount of years you did with him. Both of my Grandpas, and one of my Grandmas, died before I was ever born. The one I have is the only Grandparent I've ever know.
Sorry for your loss. Try to be happy for the time you did have with him.

That is horrible. I know how you feel since I myself lost my grandpa 3 weeks ago [it was more out of the blue though]. Hang in there; it will be rough for a while but eventually things have to get better.

I'm sure it was incredibly tough to hold the burden of your grandfather's death on your shoulders. Resmisence about the good moments you had with him and you will see that your grandfather is now a peace, he no longer needs to circum to the many things that holds such a major impact on the world. Despair, Anguish, Insanity etc, think of it as a new world to reimburse for all of his regrets for the better. You would want the best for your grandfather im sure.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my grandpa about a month ago. I am still not over the fact that he is gone. I still wake up in the middle of the night and cry for what seems like no reason. Hang in there man it will get better.
